Im still learning, I tried to make things feel not so forced but I also felt the pacing of the story was a bit too fast. And with the old man, I wanted to add something new so it doesnt get boring. Also, I didnt nerf the character its just that he got rather ahead of himself and I made the beasts stronger than what they were in the anime.
