This is such a bittersweet ending for this volume. After reading these past few dozens of chapters I really appreciate how Marlina's personality was foreshadowed by the person she became in the alternate timeliness (without looking it up, I believe she was referred to as the Violet Lady). With that said, if the foreshadowing from back then continues to hold true, I'd expect to see a particularly tragic end for Marlina and I dearly hope that isn't the plan for her. The ending of this volume also gives me the impression that we'll be exploring the more evil side of Ansel's personality in the next volume. That sounds quite intriguing and I can't wait to see how things unfold from here. Now, I don't really want to pressure you to change your writing style because you clearly are skilled at telling your story, but if I may make a single request it's that the novel's tone doesn't become too depressingly dark. I have seen it go in that direction with Marlina's story and I think it was executed very well from a narrative perspective. I just kinda miss the lighthearted feeling from the first two volumes and would love to see it again.
Oh please, please let Marlina have a true win just this once. She really deserves it. This arc has been so cruel to her and my heart hurts. With that said, I've already seen the next chapter's title and I'm already prepared to be sad.
*immense sadness*
Awwwwwww, I feel so bad for Marlina. She really is quite pitiable. Honestly I can't adequately express how much I love the way these characters interact with each other. I know I've probably said this several times, but it's so hard to find novels with this level of character depth. To add on top of that, most of the ones I've found with this level of detail either go too far and struggle with pacing or are too dark/tragic for me to enjoy. I know that a previous author note mentioned that Marlina is a future pact head and assuming that's the plan for this arc, I really can't wait to see the day she earns that position. Of all the characters we've seen thus far, I really feel she deserves it.
Yessssss! Please do more of this. Self care is important. Don't hurt yourself :D
The world building in this novel is so incredibly satisfying yo read about. I think I may have said this once before, but I keep being impressed by your ability to spin such an eglngaging narrative. I had meant to leave a comment at the end of the last volume, but uh, I got lazy :P You really do deserve some praise for your handling of Ravenna's arc. I hadn't thought that I could end up liking her character as much as Marlina and everyone's favorite wolf, but the way you rounded out the volume really sold ne on her character. Excellent work 👍 I'm also really happy with the direction of this latest volume. I was really worried about the earlier character stories getting left behind so its awesome to see Marlina getting her time in the spotlight :D
Oh you have no idea how badly I needed to see some optimistic foreshadowing after that last chapter. My chest still hurts.
Ah....
Annelisa is genuinely one of if not my favorite mothers in fiction. You've done an excellent job depicting her and it's always been so heartwarming to read about her interactions with Ansel. If she actually dies I think I'm going to be heartbroken. These past few chapters have really done a great job reinforcing my love for her character and although I might be able to understand her death from a narrative perspective, oh boy am I gonna cry. And finally, thank you again for writing this novel :D
Nooooo, how could you leave me in suspense like this? I want to be in on the secret too :(
