In CN novels, the convention "surname family" is used on the married woman having that surname (and usually when the husband's surname is different. ) In English, Mrs Tang is used to refer to wife of a Mr. Tang. However, in CN novels they seems to be calling a daughter-in-law as so-and-so family lady usually with her maiden surname. So here, it is Zhang family and her daughter having come into the family with her mother is conveniently understood to belong to Zhang, hence called Zhang family 's mother and daughter.
