You do realize that you're debating me about rather learning magic to defend yourself or learning wizarding world etiquette is more important/ useful. 1.) I agree you should learn the basic etiquette to try not to offend anyone but my point is that spending more than a day learning etiquette is unlikely for most people. Especially when there is magic to be learned. 2.) when looking at prevention you have to factor in time, resources and effectiveness. Let's use your example of a home invasion; you are saying having stronger walls and doors is better than having a gun. Ask yourself if you were a criminal would you rather pick the house which is harder to get into or the house whose home owner has guns.(just assume your best option is to rob them at night when the owner is there.)

You contradicted yourself in your comment by mentioning "how many morons...". Plus I never said don't learn any basic/ common courtesy. I said that the majority of people aren't gonna focus on history and noble customs when you can be learning spells. Also I rather be able to defend myself with magic rather than rely on etiquette.
