Yu-Gi-Oh GX! Aim For The Pros!

So, you've probably heard this story before. A guy gets himself killed heroically running out into the street to save a small child from the path of the car but gets hit instead. However, rather than finding themselves in the Good Place, they wake up in a void with a literal goddess before them. From there they're sent to another world where they become the 'harem protagonist'. A god in human form with more power than he knows what to do with and a bevvy of girls who all want to sleep with him.

That's not my story.

I've always been unlucky. Hardworking, but unlucky. No matter what I did, no matter the succes, there would always be something around the corner that would ruin it. My only joys in life were writing, anime and card games. I suppose though, that love of anime card games is what led to the start of this.

I was on my way home from work, exhausted as always. I worked in a warehouse spending each day moving stock. My dreams of becoming an author falling apart. I needed money, which was why I had originally taken the job. But it had left me no time to pursue my passion. I couldn't find a job in the publishing business because a recent pandemic had made everyone close all their doors. I was stuck. I had time to write but my schedule meant that by the time I got home, I was far too tired to do anything except play the few games that brought me joy. Recently I had been replaying Yu-Gi-Oh GX Spirit Caller and Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force. While it lacked the flair of Synchro, XYZ and the competition of Master Duel, the school setting reminded me of happier times.

That day had been particularly bad. Late into winter, night had already fallen by the time I left. As I got into my car, a yawn escaped me.

"Another day another way for money," I groaned, turning the ignition. Acting mostly on autopilot, I steered out of the car park and towards the dual carriageway. That's when it happened. There was a loud pop, snapping me to attention. The car in front of me swerved with a horrible squeal, its blown tire spinning it into the road. At that moment, if I had just applied the brake, I would have been fine. But with my lack of function, I violently swerved, crashing through the road wall and plummeting into the street below. Then it all went dark.

"Kyle! Come downstairs! We'll start breakfast is ready!"

"Coming!" I called without thinking, having been jolted from what felt like a long sleep. I got up from my bed and immediately felt something was wrong. Everything seemed diffrent. Looking around the room, I found it both intimately familiar and yet completely alien. It was fairly small with only a bed, a cupboard and a desk by a lone, snow-laden window. The white walls were lined with posters depicting various monsters, which I recognized as being from the Yu-Gi-Oh card game. Yu-Gi-Oh? No, it was called Duel Monsters wasn't it?

I shook my head and made to leave when I noticed my reflection in the mirror by the door. My breath caught in my throat. Looking back at me was the image of a teen who couldn't be older than 15 years old. He wore blue and black clothes. His hair was a little too long in the front, beginning to cover his blue eyes. He looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't think where I'd seen him before. I moved my hand to touch my face and the teen in the mirror did the same.

And then, like a bolt of lightning, I was overcome with sharp pain. It felt like a knife was being cut into my brain, forcibly making room for something new. Visions of another time and place washed over me like a wave. No, not visions. Memories. My memories. All my experiences from my former life began to overpower the ones of my new one. My old life became clearer while my present became fuzzy. The shock of the awakening caused me to fall to my knees clutching my head.

Even when the pain subsided, I remained on the floor and took in great breaths of air. Suddenly I had the experiences of two lives running through my mind. I was the man I had been, but I was also Kyle an orphan, who just turned 15 and soon have to leave where he is.

"Kyle! Are you coming or not? I don't know how long I can keep the others back!" my caretaker called, laughter lining her words.

I snapped out of my stupor. I had a life in this universe now and my caretaker were waiting for me. Vaguely, I remembered that in this universe, it was the day to apply for Duel Academy. It would my chance to study and do something with my life and I didn't want to spend my new life in a mental hospital for claiming to be a different person.

"I-I'm coming," I called, unused to just how diffrent my voice was now. Hurriedly I made my way out of the room. I could just about recall the layout of the house, so I was able to make my way downstairs with relative ease.

"G-Good morning," I said, trying to sound as normal as possible.

"And a good morning to you," Caretaker Anna said, coming over and ruffling my hair. "It´s a big day, for you to go out there and make something of yourself, here are some egg and bacon, i hid it for the other kids so you could get something to eat."

Kyle looked at Anna with a smile, ''Thank you Anna!'' As i was eating my breakfast, he was thinking on how he got into this world, i remember the crash and assume that i died and came here.

''Good luck out there, i know that you signed up for Duel Academy, but do remember Kyle, if you don´t get in, i have talked to my cousin and helped you get a job at the conviniance store, he even help you get a place for you to sleep.'' said Anna.

Kyle looked at Anna and knew she was only trying to help me, ''Thank you Anna, but i think i will get in!''

After Kyle ate his breakfast he went back to his room, opening a box he had under his bed.

''Okay, for what my memories tells me, all my cards i have gathered is here, i need to make a deck as good as possible, else i could say goodbye to Duel Academy and back to working for money with no time for myself, i wonder tho, why do i remember my past life now?''

''Well, i know how my past life went, lets try to enjoy what i have now! lets see.'' While i was looking at my cards, i notised that i was a fan of dragons, great a Kaiba fan huh, problem is the dragons i have is not good, so i have to change how this deck is built, oh i have this card? okay, maybe i can use this to my advantage.

In the Kaiba Dome in the city of Domino are held the exams to enter the Duel Academy.

There were a lot of kids hoping to be admitted, but there was one in particular who stood out from the rest.

He wore: a blue jacket with white edges, with a black t-shirt underneath, black jeans, black sports shoes, what stood out the most was his blue hat with the academy symbol on it covering his face.

Inside the Kaiba Dome, Kyle thought "the written exam was very easy, with the knowledge from my other life helped alot", as he waited his turn to duel, he saw a small boy with light blue hair in the duel arena.

''Looks like Syrus won his duel, his hair is ridiculous tho.'' his thoughts were interrupted by a voice over the loudspeaker "Kyle candidate will show up in arena 3 for his admission due".

Hearing these words, Kyle got up and entered the arena, arrived he found himself in front of a man with a long blue uniform, he had black hair that fell on his head and covered his forehead in front, with a beard of the same color some hair and a pair of sunglasses.

"I am the Duel Proctor, I will be the Judge for your admission duel." Answered the man in the uniform.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Kyle. Thanks for this opportunity." Kyle answered without batting an eye.

"Well we can start." Said the examiner as he prepared his duel disk.

"Let's begin." Kyle responded by activating its duel disk as well.

While they were talking in the arena, Familiar faces was looking at the arena, people who already qualified and others who was waiting their turns, ''Hmm, let´s see who will we meet as our class mates, what do you think Zane?''

The girl who was Alexis, talked to the tall guy who was Zane, ''We will see, of course, im more intrested if anyone here could be a challenge to us.'' said Zane with a bored look.

''Oh come on Zane, who would be able to give you a challenge?''

Zane didn´t respond to Alexis and was looking at the Duel arena where Kyle was.

Let´s Duel!!!

Kyle: [4000] Life Points (LP) [Hand: 5]

Duel Proctor: [4000] Life Points (LP) [Hand 5]

''As the Duel Proctor, i can choose who begins to test out the examiner, i will let you go first!''

''Thank you, I draw! first i summon my *Mystic Tomato* In defence mode!''

''After that i place one card facedown, over to you.''

''Very well, i draw! i summon my *Vorse Raider* in attack mode.''

''I will comence my attack, *Vorse Raider* attack his *Mystic Tomato*!'' as he said that, *Vorse Raider charges Kyle´s monster with his weapon and destroyed it.

Kyle looked his life points with excitment, becase how real everything felt, the apperance of the monsters summoned, how could he be not excited.''

''As you know, When my *Mystic Tomato* gets destroyed in battle, i can special summon a dark monster with less then 1500 attack points from my deck, I special summon *Skull Servant* from my deck in attack mode!''

''Im not done yet, I activate my facedown, *Inferno Reckless Summon* This Speed Spell card activates when exactly one monster is special summoned to my side of the field with less then 1500 attack points, i can special summon as many *Skull Servant Monster to the field from my deck, hand or graveyard.''

On Kyle side of the field, 3 *Skull Servant* appeared on the field, however everyone was shocked.

 ''A very foolish move, becase that card also allows me to summon as many *Vorse Raider* monsters from my deck as well.'' on the side of the Duel Proctor, 3 *Vorse Raider* appeared as well.''

Zane and Alexis looked at arena with curious and shocked faces, ''How stupid of him, he got 3 weak monsters while the Duel Proctor have 3 powerful monsters, and the battle phase is not over meaning his other 2 Vorse Raiders can attack!''

Everyone in the arena thought that Kyle was foolish doing that move, even the judges upstairs thougth so too.

The other 2 *Vorse Raider* attack the other 2 *Skull Servant´s* leaving Kyle with only one.

''Since your *Skull Servants* was special summoned in attack mode, you lose life points from the differences from each other attack points and i count 1700 point of damage each, making a total of 3400 point of damage!''

Kyle: [3200 - 4000 = 800] Life Points (LP)

''I will place 2 card facedown, Maybe it´s time for you to quit kid, With that move, you have lost.''

Kyle looked at his hand and smiled, ''Well, there is a saying from a dear friend said to me once, A duel is not over untill the end.''

Kyle: [800] Life Points (LP) [Hand: 4]

Duel Proctor: [4000] Life Points (LP) [Hand 3]

''I draw! First i activate my spell card, *Heavy Storm* This card allows me to destroy all spell and trap cards on the field, i don´t have any, but you do.'' Kyle smiled making the examiner abit heated.

All spell and trap was destroyed, leaving only the monsters on the field.

''Well i also activate my other spell card, *Share The Pain* what this card does is that we both must tribute 1 monster on our side of the field, as i only have one, i send him to the graveyard.''

''And i send one of my *Vorse Raiders*.''

Both send the cards to the graveyard, and everyone was confused, becase they saw Kyle smile, like he already won.

Zane looked at Kyle and was wondering what he was planning, so far nothing made sense, then suddenly, one card come into his mind. ''Does he have that card?''

Alexis heard Zane word and looked at him, ''That card? do you know something Zane?''

Zane was looking at Alexis and then the arena, *I might, if he does have that card, i can understand why he goes as far as to summon those weak monster from before, the Key is his Skull Servant Monster.''

''Skull Servant?'' Alxis got even more confused and looked at the arena closesly.

''Time to win this duel, I summon my *King Of The Skull Servants* in Attack Mode!''

[Defence: 0]

The Duel Proctor was shocked and knew he was in trouble, however everyone in the arena was confused.

''Zane, isn´t that just another Skull Servant?''

''Watch and learn Alexis, things just got intresting.''

Kyle smiled at the Duel Proctor, ''My *King Of The Skull Servants* attack is zero, however, for every Skull Servant monster in the graveyard, he gets 1000 attack points, making it 3000!''

Everyone in the arena gasped, another familiar face was also shocked, as he was just finished his duel, ''Brilliant move, He prepared his setup by summoning a buch of weak monster but their use was in the graveyard, boosting his powerful monster to match even Blue-Eyes White Dragon in a single move, very impressive.''

''Im not done yet, I activate my spell card, *Mega Morph* Equiping this to my monster Double his attack points, but only if my life points is lower then yours.''

The Duel Proctor relise something, ''I see, so the reason why you summon your monster *Skull Servant´s* was to give your *King Of The Skull Servants* a boost and since you didn´t flinch in taking over 3000 damage is to be able to use this spell card *Megamorph*, very impressive.''

''Yeah, And with 6000 Attack points, it´s enough to win this duel, *King Of The Skull Servants*

attack and win this duel!

The *King Of The Skull Servants* turned into a giant and smashed his hand on *Vorse Raider, Destroying his monster and ended the duel.

Duel Proctor: [0] Life Points (LP) 

''Very Imprssive Kid, Welcome to the Academy!''

Kyle was smiling and bowed, ''Thank you.'' as he went toward the spectator seat.

As he got there, he was greeted by a familiar face, ''Very impressive, My Name is Bastion Misawa, looks like we will be class mates,''

''And my name is Syrus Trusdale!''

Kyle greeted him, ''My name is Kyle, looking forward seeing you both at the academy.''

As both greeted each other, Both Alexis and Zane looked at him from afar, ''You were right Zane, it lookes like he had a plan all along.''

''Yeah, the academy just got more intresting.''

''Im Not To Late am I!?''

Bastion, Syrus and Kyle looked at the Kuriboh haired boy who was looking as he was in a hurry.

''I´m not sure, it looked like the last bunch is done already?''

''Jaden Yuki, will show up in arena 1 for his admission due".

''Oh, looks like it´s my turn, i see you guys once i win!''

As the Kuriboh haired boy went towards the arena, Kyle was looking at it and was happy, ''(Im happy to meet all these character that i watched as a kid, im also glad i won, I didin´t have alot of good cards that let me win, since i was an orphan, i didn´t have alot of cards except for cards that people discarded, but it worked out in the end, now let me see the very first episode of GX.)''

Hello Everyone Author here, Had fun writing this, So i made an extra long Chapter as the first chapter and might do this long of a chapter on this series, I hope you all have a wonderful day and hope you enjoy the first chapter, I´m still going back and forward what cards he will main but you will see as the chapter comes.
