Selena's POV
Dad drove his old pickup as we went to the beach. I helped him grill the fish while Gwen was talking with Neil. I didn't have the nerve to face my friend after all the things I had done to him.
I laid my beach towel on the sand under the big beach umbrella. I could see girls chasing on the shore while my sister was on the water swimming with Neil. Dad insisted that I should join them, but I lied to him that I was still having a headache.
I was so engrossed in reading my novel when I heard my father calling my name.
"Let us eat," he said the moment I sat beside him inside the cottage we rented.
Gwen and Neil were coming, and I could hear my sister's laughter even from a distance. I handed Neil a paper plate, but I didn't look at his face.
