{CYRUS DRAKON}

How could I have prepared for this? The simple answer was, I couldn't.

When I clicked the ad for a 'Merchandise Acquisition Specialist' I was expecting to go around looking for things the company wanted to buy. Though, I guess technically that's what I'd be doing on this job. The things, however, just so happened to be people.

Yeah, the company wanted me to capture and sell people. Of course, I'd get a pretty profit for each person on the list they gave me whether I captured or sold them — selling gave me more — and I even got to visit fantasy worlds from anime and manga, even games.

Regardless, I found myself face-to-face with my manager. I had just finished selecting a bunch of options from an even larger list that, honestly, made my head hurt. The company used an internal currency known as 'CP' to allow employees, like myself, to purchase powers, talents, bloodlines, and even some of the people we've captured as servants, among other things.

Standing next to me was a shorter man — my height had been boosted by one of the perks I chose to the massive height of six-foot-eleven — with pale skin and sagging eyes. He looked like someone resurrected a dryer sheet if I was being honest, but I was nice enough to keep that to myself.

I couldn't be sure what options he had chosen, but his entire demeanor seemed to scream that he was a NEET that probably would stay back and watch other people die so he could live. He also stunk like alcohol, something I wasn't a fan of. He wore a saggy, dirty white shirt and a pair of grey sweatpants that had seen better days along with a pair of well-worn slippers.

My eyes tilted over to our manager, a man who looked like he would belong on the front of Time Magazine as 'Most Eligible Bachelor' if he wasn't twelve feet of pressed suit and administrative glasses. His silvery eyes gazed over our documents and flicked at us occasionally in bemusement, disappointment, and even contempt at times.

He sighed and set down the papers, "Welcome, Mr. Drakon, Mr. Fischer, to The Company."

That could not be the actual name of the organization. Though, come to think of it, I didn't see a name on the ad either. But, I guess if I was running a multiversal human trafficking company I wouldn't slap my name on it either.

The profit would do me much better than the recognition and fear of abduction — not mine; other people's. I had to wonder how much money the big boss man — or woman, I'm an equal opportunity human trafficker — made every year.

Our salary — yes, we earned a salary to live like normal people — was ten thousand a month before taxes, which I didn't pay. But, nobody needed to know about that. Such a salary meant that we earned as much as low-end doctors.

At least, I did. I couldn't say the same for the guy who smelled like he bathed in whiskey daily. The man was everything I was doing my best not to become; a maidenless alcoholic with no light in his life.

Maybe that was too harsh, I didn't know his story. He might've suffered some great loss and this job is so he can… sell people into slavery… I'm not sure how that helps him, but whatever.

"Thank you for having me," I gave the manager, aptly named Managr, a toothy smile. My new teeth were sharper and gleamed white under the fluorescent lighting of the giant's office.

"Thanks…" Fischer kept his gaze slightly downward, but not enough to show any subservience to Managr.

"Yeah, yeah." He waved our gratitude away like it was a buzzing fly, grabbing a stamp from the left side of his desk, and slamming it down, first on Fischer's documents, and then on mine.

Fischer looked over to me, a twinkle in his eyes as he finally realized that his worthless existence wouldn't be so worthless anymore. A tiny smile tugged at the edges of his cracked lips — he probably hadn't ever even touched water before. His mouth opened and his raspy voice resounded, "I'm glad to be working with you."

"Wait, what?" Managr finally cracked a smirk at my question, handing me my copy of our agreement.

"Stupid fucking mortals," He shook his head and leaned back in his chair, "Your kind almost never read the fine print. You think I'd bring two imbeciles into the same room for any other reason than to send you both away at the same time? I can barely stand one of you as it is."

I think I liked him before I signed the contract when he didn't talk at all. Now that he's opened his mouth, I'm not a fan. Even the alcoholic is better than him at this point.

"Listen," Managr leaned over his desk to stare at me, "Get the fuck out of my office."

Grumbling unpleasant words, I followed Fischer out of the room and into the corridor that seemed to stretch forever. He gave a low chuckle, "You know that you're always supposed to read the entire contract, right?"

"Don't you give me shit too, shorty." Despite my words, I grinned and slapped him on the back, causing him to stumble forward about four steps. That caught my attention as I shouldn't be that much stronger than the guy.

He looked up at me in mild annoyance, "I didn't really take physical perks, so if you could be a bit gentler, that'd be nice."

"Sorry," Scratching the back of my head, I wondered how he could possibly believe he'd get by without physical perks, "What did you take instead?"

"A lot of home upgrades, I got a couple of Tier Seven Companions, some Tier Threes, a Tier Four, and one Tier Five," He held up his hand to count off on his fingers one at a time, "I got Everlasting and Fatality Defense. I took Soul Talent to learn Magic faster too."

"I see," Folding my arms in front of me, I tapped my foot against the floor. The sound was louder than I expected, but I didn't mind it, "I also took those three Perks, however, due to my Dark Dragon Heritage I got a bunch of Defense Perks. After taking Necromancy for my Conceptual Element, my Soul Talent became free and I gained Environmental Immunity for free. I took some Ritual Circles, but they don't matter for now."

"Why does it seem like you got more than me?" Fischer gave a small pout, but didn't seem to really mind all that much, "What was your end score? Mine was six hundred and eight, but I had two points left over."

"Six-O-nine, one point left. How did you spend six hundred points on a house and your Retinue?" Giving a laugh, Fischer looked at me with confusion.

"Where are you going to live?" His question made me stop to think, "You didn't spend anything on housing, did you?"

"They'll pay us for housing right?" He shook his head and started walking towards a sign that read 'Out-Going Contractors' with his paperwork in hand, "Then, you'll let me live in your place for a bit, right? Right, Fischer? Fischer?!"

He continued to walk away despite my calling after him. Stopping at the metal door that led to where we'd be sent to whatever world we were assigned to first. He looked over at me, "You can sleep on the floor."

Walking up next to the little alcoholic angel, I opened the door, "I knew you'd come through for me, Bud."

"It's not like I had much of a choice," He took the chance to enter as I held the door open, "You would have kept badgering me about it until you got your first check."

"I… " The little guy had me speechless, not cause he was right, but because he actually said it out loud.

"Contractors Fischer and Drakon," A firm female voice caught my attention in the room. She was a blonde woman with round black glasses. She wore a white blouse under a blue pantsuit and tight-fitting pencil skirt, "I am a member of Master Managr's Retinue, you may call me Glynda. Do you have any questions before I send you to your first world?"

"Yes," I raised my hand before Fischer could say anything, though his mouth had already opened. Glynda nodded for me to continue, "What world are we going to? Managr wasn't really forthcoming with that information."

"I see," She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, flicking her hand as a screen flashed to life at her side, "You will be going to a Tier Six world, though it does go up to Tier Ten if you stay there long enough. Your current mission is the preservation and promotion of one Asia Argento, everyone else is currently yours to capture and-or sell."

"Wait!" Fischer suddenly exclaimed, "You're telling me that we're going to the hellscape that is Highschool DxD?!"

"That is correct," Glynda nodded, switching the screen to display some basic information about our mission, "First, keep Asia alive at almost any cost. Either kill or capture the targets that are after her. Defeat their ringleader in single combat — only one of you can attempt this at a time. Become a Saint with the approval of the Archangel Michael. And, finally, lead Asia to become the pope and have Michael present at her appointment to televise to the world. Any questions before I discuss your conditions?"

It was safe to say that I was in way over my head. I didn't know what Highschool-whatever was, and my personal Tier was only seven. I couldn't go against an entire world of Tier Six combatants on my own, even if I did have help from Fischer.

The little guy couldn't even protect himself, how was he supposed to keep me safe?

"Yes," Fischer interjected, showing a calm side that surprised me, "When you say to keep her alive, I'm assuming that means not to allow her to be turned into a Devil."

"Indeed," Glynda flicked the screen over to a picture of a cute girl with blonde hair wearing a clergy robe, "She needs to be completely human for this mission. Those who excommunicated her need to pay the price, as requested by our client, so she must retain her Human bloodline up to the point that she becomes the Pope."

"Okay," Trying to wrap my head around the situation, I nodded and clasped my hands behind my back as if I was a sage, "What are the conditions?"

The screen switched again to a list that made me wish I hadn't taken the job, "First, you may not capture any Angels or Church Members during this mission. Second, your Tier is reduced to Six for the duration of the mission — this only affects you, Contractor Drakon. Third, for the duration of this mission, only two Retinue members may join you. And, last but not least, you can not start a war between the three biblical factions until after Asia's appointment as Pope."

"After this mission, what's next?" Fischer seemed to be thinking he'd survive – the poor guy – and proposed a question that I didn't want an answer to yet.

The screen turned off as Glynda gestured for us to move to a circle on the ground inscribed with runes that made what I could do look like a child's scribbles on a wall. Her hands hovered near a small holographic screen above a metallic pedestal, "After your mission, you will be free to explore the world and-or take on a new mission. Good luck, Contractors."

She tapped the screen and I found myself unsure of which direction I was facing, or where 'up' was. To say I was overcome with nausea would be a compliment to the affliction. What really happened was that I puked into the Aether and it slapped me for it.

Fischer seemed to have a better time, probably used to be nauseous due to his drinking habits. As we came to the front of a church and I stumbled, he held his head and looked around. He looked over at me as I gained my footing, "We should get some of our Retinue out, just in case. This world isn't safe."

Giving a small hum in response, I kept a hand over my mouth and swallowed the rest of my bile, "I only have a Tier Five Demon Butler, so if you have someone that you want to use instead I'm open to suggestions."

"Right, I have a couple of ideas. I'd like not to be too overt for as long as we can, so keep your power under wraps and I'll do the same." He nodded before looking around, a portal opened before he walked through and then pulled me with him.

I found myself standing before a large mansion that could only be described as bigger than life. Looking over at Fischer, I finally understood what he spent all of his points on. Aside from the almost thirteen thousand square foot mansion, the island itself was about three thousand seven hundred and fifty acres.

"So, uh, you sure I can only have the floor?" He chuckled and opened the door to his new home, being greeted by six people who kneeled when he entered.

"I'll see about getting you a room," He gestured to the six people from left to right, "This is Kazuki, her brother Yuuji, Artoria, Blue-Eyes, Yuu, and Miku. Artoria and Blue-Eyes are my two Tier Sevens, Yuu; Tier Five, Kazuki is Tier Four, and Miku and Yuuji are Tier Threes."

It was surprising to me that such a little girl like Yuu was Tier Five. She stood at maybe four or five feet tall and looked fairly young. I knew that all members of our Retinue were above legal age, but I still felt that she would make a good little sister. She had pale skin and grey eyes that seemed to stare into the soul. She wore a grey cap on her head that reminded me of that worn in the navy by enlisted, as well as a short dark grey dress that reach to her upper thigh.

Under her dress, I could see dark grey leggings that stretched down to her feet and connected to her boots. Around her mid-thighs were gilded bands that looked a little tight around her long legs. Yuu wore a tiny silver band on her left ring finger with a diamond set into the band itself instead of clasped to it.

The next to catch my attention was Blue-Eyes. Something about her seemed familiar to me, and even with my enhanced senses, I couldn't place it. She had long silver hair that fell freely down her back and surprisingly sharp bright blue eyes. She wore a white dress with a shawl that covered up to her mid-neck, where a black choker with a sapphire set into it was placed.

Artoria also had a similar feeling to Blue-Eyes, though it was very faint. She had a small sword tied to her lower back, and a staff that was a bit taller than her lay on the ground next to her. She wore a white blouse with two columns of black buttons down the front that made me think she was a chef, along with a white skirt with a small slit on the left side that showed a red section of fabric.

Along her shoulders, tied by a purple bow in front, a dark blue cape with a red inside hung, covering most of her sword. She wore a strange cap with a red fabric along its bottom that somewhat hid her blonde twin-tails. Her left ring finger held a small gold band with an emerald placed atop it.

Kazuki had some intelligence in her deep red eyes, a step away from most others of the Retinue. She wore a simple blue dress that went to her mid-thigh over a white shirt, and a gold tiara with an amethyst bound by gilded prongs. Across her small chest was a black ribbon tied into a bow, which I assumed hung from under the collar of her shirt. She wore knee-high white socks and a pair of lifted brown loafers to make her look taller.

Her brother also had something different in his eyes, not quite intelligence, maybe 'alertness' would be a good term for it. He wore a tight-fitting back, long-sleeve shirt that displayed the muscles of his arms and torso but didn't make him seem like a braggart for such a display. In contrast to Kazuki's silvery hair, Yuuji's was a black color that even an eclipse would fall behind.

His black pants led down his toned legs to a pair of black combat boots. His right middle finger held a black tungsten carbide ring with a small black diamond in it. Along the inner edge of his left leg, – the one he had forward at the moment – near his boot line, was a slight bulge from a combat knife.

Lastly, Miku had long – almost incomparably so – light blue hair tied into twin tails by a set of black ribbons, the right of which had three red feathers sticking out of it. Her head was adorned with a small golden crown with a ruby sitting atop it.

She wore a white blouse with a thin black ribbon tied across her collarbone. The blouse stretched down to the edge of her black skirt, looking like it was part of the garment as design. Her thin black stockings came up to her mid-thigh and slipped down into her black loafers that looked like they had been taken from Kazuki's wardrobe.

{DOMINIK FISCHER}

I could tell that Drakon had felt something about Blue-Eyes as soon as his nose twitched and his dark eyes contracted into slits. I was a little surprised by the wisps of deep purple that I found hidden in them, but my attention turned as quickly as his did.

When he looked at Artoria, I almost thought he'd attack with the way his hand twitched. I made a mental note to keep them separated for as long as I could in the future.

He looked at Yuu with a gentle expression that suggested he wanted to protect her, something I might be able to use in the future if he ever turns against me.

Everyone else got a cursory look over, except for Yuuji. I got the impression that Drakon didn't trust the man's Tier Three ranking, and he was right not to. In the show, I'd seen him cut his own arm off in order to evade a nuclear bomb attached to his wrist.

With his Enhancement Drugs – generously provided to us via my Armory – he could easily be Tier Four, maybe higher. I wasn't sure how, but Drakon knew he was dangerous. Perhaps it was a part of his Draconic Heritage.

"Would you like to bring out your Retinue?" I offered to the Dragon, gesturing to an empty space to our left, "You said you had a butler, right? I don't have anyone with those skills, so he'd be welcome in the mansion."

"Hmm?" Drakon struggled to break his gaze from Blue-Eyes, though he did so after a short mental tussle, "Sure."

The portal to his Pocket Dimension opened and a tall – not as tall as Drakon himself – man stepped out and looked around. He kneeled to Drakon with a hand over his chest, "I am ready to serve, Master."

"This is Sebastian Michaelis, my butler." Drakon looked down at his choice of Familiar with something akin to pride. Though, I couldn't see whatever object Drakon had used to bind the Demon. I could then assume he used the stamp instead, given that I doubt he'd use an intimate method with a man.

He just didn't catch me as the type to be into men.

"Did you not switch from the Stamp?" Voicing my thoughts allowed me to gain more information about the Dragon that would be put to use in the future.

"Sebastian is bound by my Treasure Hoard," Grabbing the butler's hand, Drakon removed the white glove from it, revealing a purple sigil of a Dragon with bones crossed behind it. Red lines crossed around the sigil like blood, which I figured was the telling of Sebastian's history that Treasure Hoard added to each distinct mark.

The butler wore exactly what you'd expect of a Demon servant, a black suit that was expertly tailored with a white shirt and black tie. His white gloves covered his black nails and the mark that Drakon had made on the back of his left hand.

Sebastian replaced the white cloth and stayed on one knee, waiting for Drakon's orders. The Dragon himself was almost in stark contrast to his servant, with long white hair tied into a high warrior's tail at the back of his head. He wore a thin white T-shirt that bulged with his tightly bound muscles and a pair of blue shorts that showed off his well-toned legs. His black socks come up about two inches from the top of his black and white running shoes.

He looked like someone from a fighting anime, honestly, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that. Though, I did laugh when I first made the connection.

"I have the Ritual Circles too," Drakon continued his explanation, "But I don't really like them, because they remove all personality from our targets. I'll just use them for capture and sell."

"I see," Rubbing my chin, I looked down at my own Retinue of Companions and singular Familiar. The difference between the two was slight but quite obvious. Companions were the members of our Retinue that we were sleeping with and had an emotional attachment to. Familiars, on the other hand, were members of our Retinue that we weren't planning to sleep with or keep a romantic relationship with.

In my Retinue, the only Familiar was Yuuji, the other five were Companions. Looking at Sebastian, I wondered if he was a Companion or Familiar. Judging by Drakon's attitude of just doing whatever he wanted – taking the glove off without asking, for instance – Sebastian was probably a Familiar.

"We should come up with a plan," I announced, signaling for my Retinue to stand up, "According to Glynda's screen, we are two days before the start of canon – that's when the official story starts."

"I know what canon is!" Drakon chuffed at my remark, also allowing Sebastian to stand, "I'm not an idiot, we just don't like the same kind of entertainment. I prefer modern magic and less popular works."

"This world is one of modern magic," The information didn't seem to get him interested in DxD at all, which caused me to click my tongue, "There's also a lot of big tiddy girls to add to our Retinues."

"You're making me like it less and less," Drakon not being into girls with large breasts astounded me. Everyone liked large breasts, everyone. I mean, even I liked large breasts, not as much as small ones, but I still did.

"You… don't like big tiddies?" My head cocked unconsciously in confusion as he shook his head.

"Not really," He admitted without issue — I had an issue with this, "I prefer tomboys with medium sized breasts and tanned skin."

"That's not a thing here," I felt sorry for Drakon, his ideal woman wasn't someone who existed in this world as far as important characters go.

"We should file a complaint," He responded almost instantly, though I did wonder who he'd complain to. I doubted that Managr or Glynda would care that his preferred woman wasn't in the first world he was assigned.

"Won't get us anywhere," He seemed genuinely distraught that he wouldn't be getting a medium tiddy tan tomboy, which was strange as he could have spent some points to get one if it was high on his list.

Then again, the man didn't buy a house either, so his reasoning wasn't to be relied on.

"Whatever," He sulked, which caused Sebastian to give him a pitying look, "What's the plan to keep whatshername alive?"

"Right, Asia. For that we'll need weapons, which I happen to have in troves." He nodded along as I spoke, "I was planning to have Yuuji watch over her for the time being until she's about to have her Sacred Gear stolen, then we'd pop over there and kick some ass. How fast can your circles capture a target?"

"Too slow for that plan," Opening his right palm, I watched as a magic circle appeared and morphed from a triangle to a square and then to an octagon before turning back into a circle, "It takes about ten days to capture a target if I don't pour all of my Ritual Points into Requirement. If I put six points into Requirement, I can capture a target in about twenty minutes."

"How long does your Treasure Hoard take?" If his Ritual Circles weren't going to be up to par, then maybe his other form of binding would be.

"Just a small bit of blood, then wait five minutes and the target is bound. I can bind multiple at once too." He closed his hand, making the Ritual Circle vanish, "But it's embarrassing to go around poking holes in people and sucking out their blood like a juice box."

His comparison made me laugh, but I also understood where he was coming from. It's not like he was a Vampire, so sucking necks and wrists wasn't his idea of a good night out.

"But," He continued, "My Destruction Circle can kill them if you would rather do that."

"No," I responded after a few seconds of thinking, "We should keep that a secret for as long as we can, don't use Magic unless you have to. What element did you take with your Dragon Scale, again?"

He seemed to think back to his choices for a bit, "I'm pretty sure it was Necromancy, why?"

"Let's hope it's the Dark Energy kind of Necromancy and not the boring one where you just bring back Zombies." A sigh escaped my lips as I tried to think of ways to save Asia.

"If I may, Master, we received a similar brief as you," Kazuki suddenly spoke up, her voice like music to my ears, "What if we capture the leader of the Fallen Angels? This Raynare lady. Sir Drakon's Treasure Hoard would prove useful to make her comply with our mission."

"We could…" I rubbed my chin, "The only time I know, for sure, where she'll be is I'm when she kills Issei. If we could also capture him, that would be nice."

"Look," Drakon held up his hands in mock surrender, "I'm all for earning more money and power, but I don't know if I'm comfortable biting some kid. That's too kinky, even for me."

"I get that, I do," I pleaded with the large man, "But we need his power for future situations, he becomes Tier Eight in canon. Imagine what he can become with our help."

"Just point me in the right direction then, I guess." He opened his mouth to show the sharp teeth he had been given, "They're ready for chompin'."

"Alright," I was thankful that he didn't put up more of a fight, I didn't want to have to use Yuu on him just yet, so it saved me some trouble, "If we can capture Raynare, that's a big help, but we can only have two Retinue members in total around while we're doing this mission. The rest have to stay in the mansion. So, which one of you do we take?"

"Pardon my interruption," Sebastian gave a slight bow as he stepped forward, "I believe Artoria would be a prime choice, given her affinity for Magic and the magical nature of this world. Alternatively, Blue-Eyes has a high damage output, though her covertness is not quite as guaranteed as anyone else's."

Artoria seemed to beam at the praise from the Demon, though Blue-Eyes nodded in understanding and slight disappointment. It was good to see that they still retained their personalities despite their bindings.

"Those are good choices," Yuuji cut in, his arms folded, "But the girl will be scared. Master, you should take someone who can keep her calm and safe at the same time. I believe Yuu would be a good candidate for that position."

"I second that, Master." Kazuki set a hand on Yuu's head, causing the little submarine to look up at her.

"Not me…" Yuu shook her head, pointing at Drakon, "Him…"

Drakon disagreed by snorting, "I- I'm not good with stuff like that. Sebastian, you go."

"If those are your orders, Master," Sebastian gave a deep bow, "I shall do it."

"How about this," Seeing no end to the cycle of 'not me, him' I interjected, "Me, Drakon, and Artoria will go. After we get into the church, we'll send Raynare back here and Sebastian will take her place to keep Asia safe and calm."

"I'm okay with that," Drakon agreed, sending a glance to Yuu that didn't go unnoticed by the small girl. She gave a tiny smile in response that almost visibly melted his heart.

"Then it's settled."
