A Fight for Naught

Venice announces Jed's inevitable defeat, and Jed laughs at the absurdity of her statement. Venice has grown into a new power. An even more remarkable power surpasses the ability of the most powerful mage in Enarol history. She had even greater power than Jed.

Jed loses his smirk and starts to fight seriously. On his back sprouted several shadowy tendrils, a kind of magic resembling that of Samantha's. While Venice was talking to Jed, Ivy had been slowly pulling water from the ocean. She instantly commanded the two captains to have the soldiers fall back. Ivy struck a surprise attack, unleashed the water she had been pulling, and turned them into acid. Venice then shot an arrow of light from the palm of her right hand. Ivy and Venice continued to strike in a well-coordinated fashion. It was as if they practiced this fight in advance. Jed took a direct hit from their combined effort, his body slowly melting and thus revealing his true self. Jed desperately attacked with his tendrils but was easily evaded. His actual body disclosed that the battle had now come close to its end. The four of them planned to form a coordinated attack. Ivy and Venice would attack Jed's neck and heart, respectively. And the two captains would dismember both of Jed's arms. Unfortunately, the vice-captain's tart was still lost in worry. Ces Mica is scared. Jed noticed this and decided to quickly get rid of the vice-captain. Even with all the scolding Mailee gave her younger sister, she could not reach Ces' heart.

With Mailee getting distracted and Ces impaled, their attack was interrupted. But maybe this was for the better as the other three were enraged. Losing the things you pushed yourself for — the ones you swore to protect — can lead to greater heights. A new strength was revealed. The three continued the fight, but this time they could corner Jed. Ces' body was still dangling from the shadow tendrils. Seeing this horrifying sight made Mailee lose control of her emotions. While Ivy and Venice are targeting Jed's heart and neck, Mailee quickly slashes Jed's tendrils, thus freeing her sister. Jed shrieks in pain so loud that everyone's ears start to bleed, but the warriors continue their attacks, taking advantage of Jed being distracted by Mailee's attack. As Jed was about to attack Mailee. His heart and neck were finally cut by Ivy and Venice. This battle has come to an end. The witch of Calamity is no more.

The invasion started halfway to night from noon, and this fierce and brutal fight finally ended by midnight. Captain Mailee went to check on the evacuated and announced that the battle had ended. She finds out that her aunt Krixia was killed while helping the people evacuate. Queen Kicee was found dead in the throne room. King Rick was found sleeping soundly on his bed, and when they woke him up, he asked for a meal. A moment passed, and the king's meal was served, but the king was found unbreathing and had passed away.

Venice and Ivy were just standing there among the hundred corpses that cursed the land. They just stared at each other. After a moment of unpleasant silence, a voice was heard. Venice began to speak — she explained what she had seen in the returning memory. Ivy was distraught inside — while her face didn't show this, the tremble in her body did. After another moment of silence, Ivy spoke once more. Venice didn't know how to respond to what Ivy had just said. Venice didn't want to accept it, but she stayed strong as this was what Ivy would've desired.

Crying, they faced opposite sides. They walked unhurriedly -- accepting each other as Ivy said. "I now know why I loved you so much yet still didn't trust you. You didn't trust me either, did you? From now on... we are not lovers, but sisters."
