Chapter 19 - True Magic

We rush to the Courtyard, as our Magic Lessons are taken there today.

As we arrive, we see the Teacher frowning at us, she looks quite angry. All the Students are looking at us too.

"What took you guys so long?" She is tapping her feet with her arms crossed. Her voice is clearly angry and louder than usual.

"W-we were... " I start, but I can't think of a good excuse.

Then, suddenly, Victoria jumps in. What does she expect to do? She is basically just a child now.

"Excuse us, Teacher." She makes a bow and gestures for me to do the same. Why should I? Aren't I the Princess? Well, whatever... Rules are different at school, I guess. I bow too.

"We were running late, since we didn't know that these lessons today are taken here, in the Courtyard, today. We apologize sincerely." Her voice sounds calm and serene. It's actually quite professional. But how? Didn't she lose all her old Memory?

"You can both raise your Heads, especially you, Lyara. Even if this is School, a Princess shouldn't lower her Head for so long." Her voice sounds a bit calmer. We both raise our Heads. Her Expression looks not angry anymore, but rather proud. She doesn't really seem to believe what we were saying, but she seems like she actually is proud that we apologized.

"I accept your Apology, but be careful to read the Schedule next time."

We both nod and go in to the front row, where other students are standing too.

A few seconds later, she starts the Lesson.

"Alright. Now that most of you will be reaching the Age of 12 soon, there is something important I need to teach you."

She holds out her hand, as if holding something, and then summons a kind of fireball. But it doesn't look like normal fire, it looks like... Red Fire... I know it sounds weird, but it has a red aura and is only red, like a deep dark red. Almost like Blood. It looks almost like the same Magic that the Guards used in the City, back on the other Continent.

"This is a weak offensive Magic. And it will be the first kind of Magic for you to learn. Better said, it's the first True Magic that you will learn and with this as a basis, you can cast any other offensive Magic easier."

She turns around and kind of throws the fire ball at a target. It burns for a few seconds until the fire dissolves. She then turns around, back to us. Everyone is gasping and clapping.

"Now, on how you can use this Magic too."

She takes a Ball in her Hand, that she took out of her coffer.

"Imagine you have a Ball in your Hand, it can be any size, but be vary that the size you imagine, determines the strength of the Spell. Then, after that, close your eyes and feel how your Magic Energy is flowing through your Body, how it is going from your Heart to your Brain, to your Feet and to your Hands. Concentrate on it and try to control it. Control it in such a way that it flows in concentrated form out to your Hand. And now imagine that it is a Fireball."

Suddenly a Fireball appears in her Hands. "Go ahead, you Guys are supposed to try it too." She snickers.

I try it too. I imagine exactly what she said, but, since I am still unaware of my Magical Powers, I imagine a very small ball in my Hand, as small as a pea. Suddenly I feel the flow of Magic Energy going through my Body. It is strong, very strong, it's angry, it wants revenge, it wants to control me. It wants to murder. It wants power. It nurtures on hate. It seeks the hate I had once before. It wants t- NO! I don't want to! I will resist! I will control you!

I calmly breathe in and out. I concentrate on the beautiful things in life, on my Past and on Heira and Victoria. I concentrate on our beautiful Palace, which I haven't explored completely yet. My Magic Power calms down. It gives in. Suddenly, I feel something on my Hand. I hear everyone gasping and I open my eyes.

I don't have a Fireball in my hand, neither is it as small as a pea. Instead it is something else. I can't define it. It looks like some warped and weird kind of Black Mass. Like an Amassment of Black Aura. The Teacher looks at me with terror, fear and worry. She tries to stop me, but she can't. Every time she tries to get close to me, she can't, as if walking against an invisible wall.

I try to talk, but I can't. Suddenly, something odd comes to my Mind.

I take out my Phone and open the Camera, I switch the Mode so that I can look at myself. But--

Suddenly the Dark Aura is near bursting, I quickly throw it away. It lands on the target a few kilometers away, it explodes and destroys almost half the training ground, almost reaching us and the courtyard.

I take another look on my Phone, I seem to look normal, but...

What I have just seen, the first time I looked at my Phone, even if it was just for a split second, it looked horrifying. I can't quite describe it, but... I looked... like a Demon. Like a Monster. As if my very flesh and body had been controlled by something else. But, obviously it wasn't. What was that?

I look at our Teacher and at Victoria. Both are in shock.

I don't know what to say.

Victoria is the first to speak.

"I think... we should go for now, don't you think so?" She has a nervous laughter.

I look down and just nod. I go reluctantly with her, she even needs to pull me slightly.

The last thing I notice is that everyone seems relieved that I am gone, as they sigh. But... can I even hear that from such a distance? Aren't we already at the entrance of the Main Building? Whatever... maybe my senses are just strong.

Victoria then turns around and looks at me. She has an expression I have never seen before. It is a mix of worry, fear and anger.

"What was that? How did you even do that? Do you even know what you have done? What this means?"

I shake my Head, I'm close to crying as tears are forming on my eyes.

But Victoria just ignores my Tears. "No? NO? So you don't know what you've done? That what you have done is clearly dangerous and shouldn't be used? Also, how did you even do that? We were supposed to summon a fireball and not That!"

I don't even look at her anymore and I start to cry. What is happening? Why is this happening?

But... it almost seems like nobody even cares for me or my troubles anymore.

I can't see her, but she is probably just mocking me, laughing at me, how stupid I am. That Victoria! I can feel it.

But... no... it can't... suddenly, I feel a warmth. A warmth I haven't felt before.

As I open my eyes, I see nothing, but I smell something, it smells good. Like perfume.

"Lyara! I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry for being angry at you just now. Look at me." She pulls away and lift my face. She is crying, the same as I do. I feel as if my Heart is sinking down a deep hole.

"I know how your condition can make you anger so quickly, but please. Believe me, it wasn't my intention. It wasn't my fault!" She hugs me again.

But what does she mean? What does she mean, my Condition?

She seems to notice that I don't understand what she is saying.

"Oh, so you really don't know." She sighs. "Listen to me. I know it might sound weird and it might sound really really bad. But trust me that I did with the best intentions I had in Mind, alright?"

I don't know what she means, but I can only guess that she is about to tell me.

Prepared for anything, I slowly nod.
