Unlighted Hearts

Many centuries ago, our world was at peace.

The light and the dark bloods lived in harmony and shared their resources through the boarders. Everything was going too well until Vexana, a creature from the underworld, woke up from her deep sleep and divided the world into two different regions out of hatred. She killed millions of people, cursed some lands and brought her evil spawns to roam the earth and went back to the underworld.

It is said that many people have attempted to cross but failed and ended up dying from the curse that was put on the border by Vexana. Since then, no one has ever attempted to cross or even approach the border for the fear that they might die.

Ever since the world has been divided, no one knows what's happening on the other side. We don't even know if they're still alive or they've already been killed by Vexana's spawns.

I sighed as a stared into the horizon and slightly shivered as the cold breeze of the night kissed my skin.

The people are no longer living in fear for the spawns in our region has already been eliminated by our Cavaliers decades after the division. The only threat left now is the border.

I let out a deep breath and stood up from the grass I was sitting on. It's time for me to go home.

"Lunox, you're home."

Guinevere, Lancelot's sister welcomed me with a smile on her face. I smiled back at her and nodded.

"Where have you been today?" She asked. "At the hilltop." I answered.

"Perhaps, you didn't use your light--"

"No." I immediately cut off her sentence. She sighed in relief.

"You know the dangers of using your light Lunox, you'll be hurt."

I gave her a weak smile. I can feel that she's really worried about me.

"Yes, I know." I said as I entered my room. I sat on the edge of my bed and sighed.

My name is Lunox and I'm half light and half dark blood. I don't know who my parents are and I was raised in an orphanage. I have two abilities but I can only use the dark one. When I tried using the light to battle with Lancelot, it gave me immunity but it almost killed me. The light is too powerful for me to handle. I've been trying to control it but I always end up being hurt or injured.

I stared at my palm and slowly rested my body on my bed.

"Help! Help us!" I was awakened by the shrieking screams of the people outside our house. I immediately got up and my eyes widened when I saw a creature, almost twice of my size in front of me. Its eyes was glowing green and it let out a roar that froze me.

I couldn't move!

It was moving towards me and all I could hear was Guinevere's voice shouting at me to move.

Is this my end? Am I really going to die?

I closed my eyes and prepared myself for the worst when felt a calm feeling rush into my body. I slowly opened my eyes and I gasped when I was surrounded by light.

"W-What's happening--aa!!" I screamed as I fell on the floor. I winced in pain and slowly stood up from the ground.

"Wha--where am I?" I asked myself. I looked around and I'm suddenly in an unfamiliar place. The light is gone and I don't see anyone.

I was about to make a step when I felt something sharp pointing on my back.

"EEK!"

"Who are you and what was that light?!" A man's voice!

"P-Please don't kill me." I begged with a shaking voice. I felt the man walking closer to me and I gulped when I saw a tall, long-haired man. "H-Hello." I greeted him. He raised a brow on me.

"I'm demanding you to tell who are you."

"I-I'm L-L--"

"Talk properly!"

"I'm Lunox of the Light Region and I'm the Twilight Goddess! I-I swear I don't know what that light was and I'm not here to harm anyone! I-I'm lost--"

"You're from the Light Region?" he cut off my words. I gulped and quickly nodded my head. This guy is someone but he sure is scary!

"Umm... where am I?" I asked him. He withdrew his sword and looked at me. Confusion is allover his face.

"You're in the Dark Region."

"WHAT?!"
