Chapter 1Chapter 1

Since the time my family found out the death of my father, Vlad Aslan, I have been living alone. Six long years, I have been living on my own using the knowledge that my father took time to teach me in ten years. My mother disliked the fact that I was more of a daddy's girl that hers. So after she received the news about my father, she just packed up with my younger sister and brother moving into the village. At that time I was ten, my brother five and sister two.

Thanks to my father through the years living on my own I worked hard and used my skills that my father taught me. See the part that everyone did not pay attention to was the fact that my father was a master at combat in all aspects: hand to hand, weapons and even distance. He went as far as learning blacksmith, hunting and farming. Every skill he learned he did it for his family. Including passing all the knowledge to me.

In the first year of living on my own I met a couple who were starting out on their own but struggling. I had no clue that they had no home at the time. This couple enjoyed staying with me and wanted to help out around the place. In the oddest way we took care of each other.

Angus Black is a great guy who enjoy farming and when he started to tend the farm it flourished. Before he came we had 10 cows, 10 sheep, 2 horses, and one field. After he took over we had increase in our stock 30 cows, 40 sheep, 15 horses, and 5 fields. Also the work load increase which caused us to have to hire some help to work the farm.

By the second year, I had to have building constructed for the help, and animals. For the Blacks I had a house built for them. In fact any time a family joined the farm I had a house just for them built so they had privacy. On top of all these building I built a few for any travelers that came by need top rest or wanted to stay for a while.

Donna Black, Angus's wife, could sell any thing. Since the farm started to produce food and other items. Being able to sell bread, produce, milk and butter, yarn, forged items and anything other that the hands made and wanted to sell. At least once a week, Donna would take one hand to help her when she went to sell the items.

I had no desire to go near the village so anything I needed I found and made. Especially when my mother stayed in the village. She had stirred up a lot of trouble for me and spread the untrue facts about me. During this time I had honed and built on what father had taught me about my gifts after the first accident. My own mother had great fear of me and got my younger sibling to hate me because of my gifts.

During the second year after my fathers death, the Blacks were expecting their first child. Everyone had gotten really excited that there will be new life on the farm. It also inspire some men who work for us to bring marry and start their own life on the farm. Here they were safe and had a place to work.

Everyone on the farm had been really concerned about me. I know they cared about me but I also taught them how to fight like soldiers. They still did the normal work on the farm but spent some time honing their fighting skills.

My fathers farm was actually built near the border of our kingdom and we had stopped a lot of invading forces during this time. No one knew about this because we held them off. During this time I had made connections to the elves, dwarfs and had the orcs looking at me as their leader. All I know is that I needed to keep this place safe and that is what I did.

I had no problems with travelers from other areas as long as they did not cause no problems.

This time I was of age and every village had to do the same thing once a year in the spring. When someone turned sixteen they had to go in front of the fate stone. The fate stone is just checking if you are gifted or have a future else where than in the place you are living. These fate stones guide us to our higher purpose and gives us an idea of where we can go. Where we go that the fate stone shows us is an honor for that family. Why is that? Well they go forward and help the ruler of the kingdoms with their problems being a neutral party at all times but if they had to fight it was to protect all races from danger that is lurking.

During this time of year everyone who lives near the villages come to see what destiny has in store for the current new batch of sixteen year old. This year I have to go and be tested buy the stone. On top of that I have to enter the village for the first time in many years. It did not matter if I wanted to be part of it or not. All I know is that they test both male and females.

My normal was to stay away from the ceremony and any other festivals that happens at the village. There is one thing that I never stop and that is that I did not care if those who lived on the farm go or not. Most of the time they did but not all the time. Especially after they heard my mother talking about me. The villagers were different though they believed everything that my mother said about me.
