Zhu Li

Amelia looked at the excited Mo and couldn't bring herself to scold him for making such a blunder. Bringing this person in the base will make her base gain popularity she doesn't need right now. Shane is still at large and if he sees the technology who knows what he will do?

She felt a headache just thinking about it all. She has to take this woman out of here, maybe she can take her into the Island? Would she be lonely and resent her for it?

Wait a minute, since when is so...cowardly? A war would be a nice change of pace. Just not with the royals until she knows what they are hiding. As the saying goes, a man is not what he shows the world, but what he hides from it.

"Can you call her for me?" Amy rubbed her temple feeling like she will get a headache soon. Mo is stunned by her almost listless expression. She stood up and ask her to follow him.

They knocked on a place that was previously used as a conference room. The door opened and a thin woman came out with a frown. When she saw Mo, she seemed surprised and an embarrassed expression showed on her face.

"I didn't do it on purpose." She said.

"What didn't you do on purpose?" Mo asked with a bad feeling.

"The explosion....wait, you didn't hear any explosions did you?" Seeing Mo shake his head she felt stupid for outing herself.

A delightful laugh came from the side, that's when Zhu Li saw the beautiful lady with large watery eyes that seem to be laughing at her.

"Hel...hello." Zhu Li blushed seeing the girl and lost her speech for a moment. Coughing lightly she extended a hand full of grease and oil stains. "I'm Zhu Li." 

Amelia took her hand calmly but soon her expression became stiff. She slowly turned to look at her hand that has been stained with oil stains she put it behind her. She can't even scold the girl, It is obvious Zhu Li is even more flustered by this blunder. 

"Amelia, you can call me Amy. I hear you are a genius. Do you have something to show me? I would love to take you to dinner and you can tell me all about your .....projects." Amelia smiled at Zhu Li.

Zhu li smiled and agreed. "That would be great. I'm.....I'm available anytime." 

Old Mo's expression turned ugly. "What do you mean you are free anytime? Aren't you working?" 

"Anyways please come in. I have something new to present to you old Mo." Zhu Li's aura changed from a shy expression before to an expression of someone with serious knowledge.

"This Is a resource I found when I had ran away from the captors before."

"It can be integrated into any other refined item without problems. The resource ater being processed it will take instructions and then simulate the properties of the host according to your instructions." Even though she is explaining calmly, her expression has obvious excitement. 

Amelia frowned. "How do you sent instructions to a mineral? Is it conscious?" 

"By using this, it is an improved version of a chip. I have sent programs into this chip and allowed it to blend into the smart bracelets sold around the base. This took me sometime but I was able to make a chip out of it, the properties of this chip are leagues ahead of what we know. Everything is better. Especially the processing power.

"Because of its peculiar properties to assimilate itself like a virus, it's size can be operatered on a device as small as an ant, or as big as a car." She looked at the two lost people and said excitedly. 

"This is the breakthrough in technology we have been waiting for. It can work deep under water or in the outer space. The smart bracelets were just a test run, now we can take a look at my newest creation." A small ball buzzed in the corner and came forth. 

"Those with abilities can send mental signals to this guy and give it instructions as long as they bond with it properly they can operate it using their minds. It is easier when I got it to scan my DNA sequence and use it to identify me as an owner." Seeing her audience falling asleep, she moved on to a different direction.

"I reconnected to the internet and accessed all the data in the internet previously when I restored the networks last week." Zhu Li looked at the floating robot and smiled proudly. 

"Mike, show me the online videos uploaded at the start of the apocalypse." Infact she didn't have to say it outloud but there are people to show.

A large light screen came out from the upper part of the robot, the picture is very clear that one can see pores on the faces of people in the video.

Many horrifying scenes showed, people getting eaten, chased, buildings burning and cars exploding. Amelia and Old Mo watched on until the screen shut off. 

"You said the internet is back?" Amelia got the main point. 

"Yes and this time we don't need towers to connect. These can change size, record and send back feed even in space." She said happily. It sounded overly dramatic but it is the truth.

"Where is this resource? We should mine it immediately." Amelia said. This is the new age technology that will carry the world into the future, how can she allow those interstellar aliens to see them as barbarians if she can improve technology in the world before they come? 

Zhu Li took out the mineral in question, Amelia had seen this in abundance on the nearby forest. She will have to have it mined silently while the bases are busy fighting with the royals. A sharp glint flashed in her eyes, perhaps she should fan the flames to distract them from her activities.

"Where did you find this resource?" Old Mo asked taking the wobbly Item in his hands. 

"Near the female inmate prison of the G region. If I can guess, it is probably under ground." Zhu Li looked at Amelia to see if she will be disgusted with her for having been in prison. But the woman is busy spacing out. 

"Leader what do you think?" Old Mo said looking at Amy. Hearing that this is the famous base leader, Zhu Li is surprised.

"I know a mine close by." Amy said.

"You do?" 

"You do?" 

They both asked her in surprise. Amelia took out a few purple gems stones from her ring and handed them to Zhu Li. "This one can make things float, heavy things. Also I think it has something to do with space but there is another element it is, the space element is not a lot." Amelia said and wondered what the genius will turn this item into.

"I will collect a few of these different minerals so you can play however you want." Amelia said making Zhu Li smile wide.

She really wants to see other resources but she will focus on what can be done with this item she has already started studying.

"We won't disturb your work anymore miss Zhu, please excuse us." Amelia wants to go back to the island soon.

Outside the office, old Mo walked with a thoughtful expression. "You know they will come for her don't you?" He asked Amelia who nodded with a serious expression.

"I am working of a place lately. Don't worry about it. Do we have a lot of these smart bracelets?"

"Zhu Li provided the chips and the rest is easy we don't even need alot of people to assemble the parts. We have a large amount in stock. There is still not enough activity in the smart bracelets so people don't know what do do with it. They can access online movies but their accounts need to have crystal nucleus accordingly." Old Mo sympathizes with the people.

"Have we set the price?"

"12000 second level zombie nucleus." Old Mo said

"Give 500 to the Qin Family at double that price. The other bases give them 200 aslo at double that price. Send people with foreign features and very high levels of power."

Amelia smiled. Old Mo stood rooted on the spot.

"This is an item in invented by the UN. Sigh, selling it to strangers is already very generous." Amelia made a voice and old Mo understood. She means to divert the attention to the UN.

"What happens when they are un able to connect with foreign citizens?"

"I have a group of people who will advertise for us. They speak English and the accent is not shabby at all. But most people won't associate that place with us so we will be able to grow freely." Amelia assured.

Amelia took over two thousand units of smart bracelets and stored them in her own space. She went to collect the seeds and the moss to help her new base. Farming tools are a must.

She also took 100 shadow guards to help maintain order in the prison base.

She found the Qin siblings in the waiting chairs of her office, the sister seems healthier than before. "Mr. Qin, Miss. Qin. It has been a while, please come in." She spoke but the two people looked at her incredulous.

"Did she grow taller?" The girl asked her brother.

"I don't think so." He answered.

"Leader, it has indeed been a while. I apologize for bothering you." Qin Ai said in a polite but cold tone.

"How can that be? I heard you are training our soldiers on daily basis. I am very thankful for your hard work." She smiled at the pair of siblings.

"I am glad you said that because my sister has been crying for the beauty pills you made for the escorts and I can't calm her down no matter what." Qin said embarrassed but he doesn't have a choice.

"I made a promise to only make those pills for the escort. No matter what, I can not break my word Mr Qin. Even for someone who has helped me so much, I'm afraid It's not possible." Amelia said with an unchanging smile on her face.

Qin Ai knew there is no way to convince someone who wants to keep their word. But his sister, 'sigh.'

The girl stood up and then knelt down in an extremely humble posture in front of Amelia's large office desk. She spoke with a trembling voice as if she will cry any moment.

"Base leader, please grant Meng'er this one request, it is my dream to become as beautiful and glamorous as the sisters in the blossoms Plaza. If this dream of mine can not be granted, I....I have nothing!" The girl is crying in the end.

"The only way is to join the plaza. But that is not what you want is it? No, you want to make me go back on my word using your brother's power. It is not going to happen. Why don't you join the acting department and become an actress? You are very good at using your circumstances." The voice is not scolding her or praising her. It is just calmy assessing her.

Her brother got embarrassed and tried to pull her up but the girl avoided her like the plague. She kept trembling in front on Amelia who didn't say anything but watched her trembling form without any expression.

If others saw this scene they will think she is being bullied. Qin Ai is anxious on the side looking at Amelia with pleading eyes but the woman didn't even glance at him and kept watching his little sister like she is watching good show.

How can anyone be so heartless? His little sister is on the ground and she is just looking on with no expression on her face. Something snapped deep inside his heart looking at Amelia's unbothered look and he slapped the large desk violently roaring in anger.

"My sister has already begged you like this. Are you so heartless that you are going to look on with those cold eyes? What kind of woman are you? Do you have no compassion at all? I am ashamed to have called you leader..." When he finished shouting his chest is heaving up and down.

"You are the heartless one, you want people who sacrificed their bodies and freedom to fall inlove to have made their sacrifice in vain just because your sister can tremble and blackmail people with moral cohesion?" Qin Ai became stunned hearing her words. To him it is just a pill, but to those people it is the sacrifice they made for that simple pill.

"Those people have to serve strangers in bed every day yet you want me to go back on a promise to make their items exclusive just because of your scheming sister? Is my brain flooded with water or am I just stupid like you? Take that thing and leave my office before I cut it into pieces." She did not shout, but her words are thunderous and cold. She pointed at the girl who has gone stiff on the ground.

The girl still has that lowered posture on the ground as if she is being bullied. Amelia didn't move from her position but continued to look on. Two full minutes later they are still in that same position.

"Meng'er let's go!" He finally came back to his senses and remembered who he was speaking to. When he saw his sister's stubborn persistence he pulled her up forcefully.

They left but before they can reach the door, Amelia's voice sounded.

"Mr. Qin, please leave the base by tomorrow lunchtime. The severance pay will be paid into your online account. Thank you for your services."

Qin finally realized his sister has made them to be chased away from the most secure base in the last days. Even if he was stupid, he can see what his sister was trying to do, use his face to get the leader embarrassed into giving her what she wants.

He sighed. His sister is also so scheming. He can not believe he fell into her trap like that. There is nothing to do now but leave.

"No! Brother, I can't leave the base. Please help me convince base Leader." He saw the panic in her eyes. He finally realized this has to be about a boy. He chuckled a dark chuckle.

His sister looked at him in fear, she has never seen him with that expression and that sound just now.... "Brother....I."

'Bang'

The sound of his bedroom door closing right in front of her face. If she had tried to enter just now...

She cried for real this time and went to her room to chat with her friend and say good bye.

Amelia is still leaving more resources when her fledglings arrive.

"Leader!"

They all ran to her. "You all seem well."

"Leader, we heard you are firing trainer Qin. He is really a hard working man, his sister is very scheming and pestering Li Jie is her new hobby." Aiming said in heartache.

Looking around the room she saw they are all worried. "You can go to him and tell him his privileges of getting food from the upper east side market and his sister's job are revoked." She summoned the Du twins and teleported to the prison in annoyance.

The nine kings looked at each other in dismay. They have angered her, who knows how long they will not see her this time? Li Jie went back to training. He and along with the rest are no longer scrawny kids but good looking teenagers and adult (Li Jie) with muscles full bust.

Qin found out about the leader's decision and is glad, he wanted to go and apologize but he was told she left again. Li Jie blocked Qin Meng's contact and avoided her whenever he saw her as if she is on fire.

These are all children dramma that Amelia has no time for at the moment she is watching the prisoners waiting anxiously for her in the assembly place.

She appears with a hundred people who all exude a dark shadow made for a peculiar scene. "Go study the territory. You will be assisting me in keeping order in this place." The shadow guards disappeared leaving her standing there by herself.

"Are you guys waiting for me?" Seeing them nod. "Why?" She asked in puzzlement.

"The leader, no one chose to leave so we wonder if you will be able to feed everyone." One woman with a tatoo under her left eye asked.

"You also don't have to worry about this, we will farm in the future. This green moss should be planted all over the base, it will suck out all the virus from the soil and then we will use those old glass houses for planting vegetables and fruits. I have seeds and some saplings for grain."

She showed them all the items and they all walked to the vast land on the east that is covered in grass and weeds. There are tools for farming she had looted back then but this place is no stranger to hard work.

There are processing factories, green houses, assembly line in different parts of the prison, it was to make use of the free labor and make money for the prison to get resources.

In the resources she got from the base there is also cotton seeds. Amelia is planning on planting it in her space. The silk worms have multiplied and the amount of silk is astronomical. She just doesn't have time to pay much attention to it for now.

"Now that you all know what is expected of you organize yourselves into groups. For now we need farmers and the administration staff. Du Hang and Du Wei will be your managers. You are to give them respect."

"Yes Leader." The inmates agreed.

Amelia turned to the twins. "Come with me." The slaves followed closely. When she reached her suite she sat down on a chair and motioned for them to sit as well.

"You two are to manage this place on my behalf. You are to do a good job at this. My aim is to have a massive powerful army and plenty of wealth." She took out two mental fruits.

"Master, don't worry. We will do a good job." Du Wei hit his chest solemnly and promised.

"The people who are soldiers and will fight to protect the base will live in the most luxurious buildings followed by the farmers, the administration staff and lastly the factory workers. Everyone else should stay in the D building untill they find work, understand?"

"We will do it according to your instructions."

"Remember, those who work hard in the base such as farmers, should be given preferential treatment in food allocation. Soldiers first, farmers and other general workers, administrators."

"I will come and take a look at the people who will be fighters and soldiers. For now, get all the administrative staff allocated in the C building and have them allocated duties."

"I want this place working like a well oiled machine. The farmers should start working tomorrow, I checked the soil that place is not too hard and even a little wet because of the sprinklers. Have them shut down and all the water in the pipes released to the sea."

"Clean the pipes thoroughly and then have water supernatural powered people put fresh water inside. Get a group of people responsible for plumbing and the electricians for the power. When I come back in two days there should also be cleaning staff."

"Brother Lu is still asking nicely to this venting bucket, what does she think she is? A queen?" Another voice said.

"What is going on here?" Amelia felt a headache. She forgot this place is where the strong survive and the weak are trampled.

"Leader, this woman refuses to be a farmer and wants to be a trained soldier. Who does she think she is?" The one named brother Lu scurried to her and explained not forgetting to glare at the woman.

"Why are you deciding what she does and doesn't do?" Amelia asked. Brother Lu became stunned. Because he is stronger than her! He roared internally but didn't say anything to Amelia.

"Lead..."

"Why does her choice bother you so much? Do you want her to remain weak for some reason?" Amelia can deduce from the look some women have that they may have been through unspeakable circumstances in this place.

"I...." He really couldn't say anything. Can he say that he wants to continue abusing her?

"Call everyone to the assembly." She sent him away and he ran like he is granted amnesty.

"Everyone go back to the assembly I need to deliver a statement." She told the people in the vicinity.

A while later, every one except the Du twins are in the assembly waiting to hear her statement. "I had overlooked something in my initial assessment of you. I want to tell you that there will be no bullying of any kind in this base. If you persist I will kill you myself."

"Everyone and I repeat, everyone can join to be a soldier. Even those without supernatural power. Go ahead and sign up and if someone intimidates or harass you in any way, they don't deserve to be one of my people." She looked at the listlessness in the eyes of some people and knew her words are not taken seriously at all.

"My shadow guards will ensure peace in this place. They have the authority to kill directly I will not feed abusive people in this place. The thing about shadow guards is that you may not know when they are around watching. No violence and no bullying."

"Those with water abilities and any other ability that is considered weak can also sign up. I have a way to make your power deadly. Those with weak bodies can also join, there is a way to make your body stronger and even gain a supernatural power so don't despair. Become my shield and protect our home." Seeing their silence she decided to do it today. She sighed at the distrust in those listless eyes.

"Those with desire to join the soldiers and the supernatural powered ranks can follow me to the E building." She turned and left towards her destination. More than half the people followed. That is 0ver 7000 people.

It is lucky the mysterious trees don't wait for her to harvest and the fruits will just pile up around the place. With the space ability to keep fresh she has nothing to worry about.

In the cafeteria hall of the E building, people stood and looked at her. "Alright, let's start with those possessing water ability." She took out a mental fruits and placed them in the kitchen open larged pots.

"You can't tell anyone about this, in any shape or for. This is our base's secret so don't share it lest you bring a disaster to me." She knows they won't go against her words since this fruit is from the batch after the upgrade.

The people with water abilities are nearly two thousand. She gave them the fruit, when they have all taken one, she instructed.

"Go and lay down then you can eat it. I know you also have weak physique I will take care of that too but for now just take this and rest. It will be very painful."

The group left without even thanking her, it seems they really distrust her. "Everyone here doesn't have a supernatural power?"

"Leader, I have space but I can't fight with it."

"I have this black fog but it is useless." A young man glared at his hand.

"Your levels are too low, that is why it's like this. I will help improve your aptitude and then you can be more talented in the future. Are you averse to pain? Increasing aptitude is no small matter." She looked as the number of people with 'useless' powers increase.

A gloomy laugh sounded. Amelia looked to the direction and a young man with fair skin but has many bruises looked straight at her. "We are waek in a place like this, pain is all we know." He said. The others nodded in unison.

"Alright. You have to take this while inside a bath tub don't face up lest you choke to death. Eath it with the peel. Go now. Remember to keep this a secret." She had made sure the cameras are not working.

Just as she is about to continue, a group came forward. "Leader, is there a way to change the ability?"

"There is, but why would you want such a thing?" She looked at them in question.

"I have a useless power." Saying so, the young man moved to an open area and wings sprouted out from his back. They have a white glow on them. Amelia can feel strong white elements in the wings.

"So you have light powers?" The young man hung his head. He took out his hand and a light beam shot from his hand.

This light beam is evn more useless in his eyes. He couldn't defend himself at all with this power.

"You are mistaken. Your power is just low level, how can light be useless? Light is speed. With those wings, your speed can reach an astonishing level. Your power can also heal. The strong light elements in you means your potential is very high." Amelia said.

"Take this and go join them." She gave him the banana. He looked at the feuit with a frown.

"I.....It still can not be used to attack."

"You are wrong again. Light is heat, heat is fire. When you become stronger you will see. Not to mention even now, you can kill zombies." The young man looked at her in shock. He had stayed inside the prison and never faced those monsters.

Now he regretted it he should have left, monsters outside are better than monsters inside the prison. He took the banana and left towards the rooms.

Seeing many more people who want to change their power, she looked at the people without supernatural abilities. Taking out the fruits from space, she made sure to take out the ones from the new batch so that these unruly people will not betray her.

She put them in open food pots of the cafeteria. These are the elements. She did not take out shadow, light, space. "One of these fruits will give you the corresponding super power." She started pointing.

"There's fire, Ice, wind, earth, metal, plant. Don't be anxious, there's more of these in my possession so choose slowly and if you haven't made up your mind remain seated untill you do. There's no hurry." She can see the long lost hope in their eyes.

"You may present your case." She looked at the people who wanted to change power.

"I can change into a cat." The girl didn't say more.

"Do you not like cats?"

"It is not a powerful beast with sharp claws. It is a domestic cat." The girl pouted.

"I can turn into a bear." Another girl shuddered in disgust.

"The lot of you should know that is the power of your bloodline. Having another power may not necessarily remove it. You will just be a fire breathing bear. Even you." She pointed at the person from before.

"Your weak cat just needs to grow. How about unlocking the bloodline potential and see what comes out? It won't be too late to take the spirit root fruit if you don't like the results. If it's can not be removed, you can wear that inhibitor." She means that collar that takes away their power.

She gave them the bananas and they left with worry evident on their faces. Amelia looked at them feeling like their wronged expressions is a little funny. Mortals would kill for a bloodline in the upper realms but these people take it for granted and even want to remove it. How ridiculous!
