They all watched as he continued the brewing of tea in the kitchen. His movements seemed well practised as he heated the water and went on to prepare the tea leaves. They stared mesmerized as the steam lifted off the cup and trailed around him. It was hard to look away. They felt for a moment that they had stepped into a shadow realm. There was nothing in this realm but the dark. It warped and twisted, bending to every move Ed made. They were sure they were in the dark, but they could see so well, they almost thought there was light.
“How...” Ku Jian muttered lightly into the nothingness.
“The dark is the validation of light,” Ed answered and they all snapped out of their daze just when he sat down before them. Nti Anem cleared his throat and looked away from Ed as he asked, “What now?”
To this, Ed only smiled as he answered, “I have come to enjoy tea quite a lot. I will drink for a few more years.” then turned to Ku Jian.
