A surprise awaits

"Wake up! Wake up mia!" said Mrs. Davis. "Are you having that kind of nightmares again."

"No mom, it's just, hah! don't worry mom I have started to be with it. Now they are like a part of my life" said Naomi, a young girl with long black hair. She had shiny rebellious eyes as if they are saying a whole world.

"Ok alright, now it's 4:00 already and I think you don't want to be late on your first day of college."

"Oh yes"

"You need to get ready fast as it will take two hours to reach the college from here"

"Are you or dad coming with me to get me to settle there with my stuff"

"Sorry honey, we had an urgent job here to complete and we know you can handle that yourself as you are our very strong girl"

"Yes mum, why are you crying mom?"

"I am not crying"

"Mom!"

"Hope we will meet soon again, feeling difficult to part from you, (Hugging Naomi)"

"Of course we will meet soon mama, don't worry and stop crying, otherwise I will be running if I got late"

"Oh, good luck"

"Thanks, Mama"

She got out of her bed quickly as she knew she was getting late. Her college was at 8:00 AM. She wanted to be the most successful doctor in town. From childhood, she had admired her parents who both were very successful doctors. She was going to UCSF Medical College, one of the best medical colleges and today she is going to have the first step towards her career about which she was always so ambitious. But what happens next is yet to come.

She got ready at 5:00 AM, her bags were already packed which she had packed with her mum. Final touches were done last night. The whole month was a craze and was spent doing the shopping and buying the required stuff. The shopping was justified as she was going for college and was super excited about it. Now she was in her room looking at every corner of it. She glanced at the photo frame lying on the bedside table. The pic was of her with her family, her mum, dad, and her younger brother. She knew she's gonna miss them. She kept the frame on the table and was about to take her bags out when her father came.

"Ready my warrior!" said Mr. Davis energetically.

"Yes Dad and I am now good to go"

"First have breakfast then only you are good to go." said her mother, as she entered the room.

"Mom I am not feeling hungry, it's just 5 'o clock in the morning"

"Then I will pack some sandwiches for you, eat them on the way. Don't forget to eat them I will call you later to ask. I don't know who will look after you there. God knows how you gonna manage everything there."

"Mom you forgot, I will be late for the college. I have to get my hostel room there as well"

"Alright then, Olivia, pack her breakfast and meanwhile we take the bags down near the car" said Mr. Davis.

They took the bags down and into the lobby and bundled them there. Mr. Davis went to the main door and signaled Turner to put the bags in the car. The Driver came and took the bags out.

Naomi went to the kitchen to help her mother in packing and maybe if she need help in making sandwiches as well. They did the final packing and everything was complete.

She took the tiffin and put that in her backpack, a bag not very large containing just the essentials. They went out, it was time to say goodbye. Naomi was carrying a simple look for her first day. She wore a striped T-shirt and plain green pants and was wearing wedges along with them. She kept her hair open. She said goodbye and was parting when her father said something.

"I am also going to drop you to college" said Mr. Davis.

"Really Dad, wow! that would be great"

"That will be great Alfred, but what about our work, that's a diagnosis we were to do today," said Mrs. Davis

"I know you can handle it without me as well, this is more important for me as of now"

"Yes, ok I will see to it. I also wanted to come but someone has to be here as well"

"It's 5:30 AM, I will get late otherwise"

"Oh yes, Turner has put the luggage in the car. Turner, you stay here, I will go with mia."

"Ok Sir"

They sat in the car.

"Eat your breakfast sometime after. Alfred, remind her to eat the sandwiches. Bye-bye mia, good luck and best of luck"

"Bye mom, I will miss you"

"Miss you too, sweetie".

They went out of the main gate, the car drove past the trees and the neighboring mansions. There were tears in her eyes, suddenly she felt so emotional. But she controlled herself and tried to stop her tears from coming. Maybe because she doesn't want to make her father feel the same or she always wanted to be her dad's strong girl. Whatever it was she controlled herself and started to talk to her father.

"Dad, so you told me once that you and mum were in the same college"

"Yes, but that's a secret, don't tell your mom that I have told you that, she will get wild"

"I know dad, only then you told me about it after asking me to keep that a secret. See, till know mom don't know."

"So, as you are also going to college, I should now say that choose your friends properly or I should say.."

"Dad! you know I am so ambitious about my career and till I become a doctor I will not think about that"

"Yeah, that's why I am so proud of you, you are like your mother only"

"So, you mean to say mom took so long to be with you"

"yes, why you don't know that?"

"Because you never told me"

"Oh yeah! some other time then"

"Oks, but you always say that"

"But we are halfway to the college, you should eat sandwiches now only, later you will not get the time and your mom will ask me. What will I say then?"

"Oh wow! we are halfway to college"

She took out sandwiches from her bag and ate the sandwiches.

"Yum, I will miss mum's food"

"Don't worry their food will not be very bad" and starts laughing.

"Dad!" and started laughing too.

She started looking out of the window, there were woods as far as she could see. They were driving between the dense woods. They were going up the hills, nevertheless, the college was situated at Mount Nileca. The sun would have set till now but because of woods it was still dark there.

Suddenly she saw something weird. It was like a man wearing white clothes was standing there looking at her. The man was 2 inches above the ground, maybe he was in the air standing still over there. She jerked back but it was not that much to be visible to her father.

She thought to herself was that person in real or was it my hallucination? Was that person looking at me as if waiting for me from so long? That was so weird and scary, she thought to herself.
