It's brutally simple. It's war. It's business. It's a demon-eat-demon world.
Demon corporations fighting for control over the most precious resource in the market... human souls. Whoever controls the souls well, controls the demon realm—plus benefits! You know, gourmet food, fancy cars, countless estates yadayada and a fancy title of "Greater Demon".
As for me, I'm an honest citizen. I belong to what you may call "working class" demons. Being a working class in the demon realm isn't so bad. You get the luxury of a decent education and a couple of promising career choices. For one, you could work at the Necropolis for "food manufacturing" incredibly boring but decent paying. Basically you get to live your life in blissful complacency. That's what my parents wanted. But not me! I'm going to live my life taking risks! I'm going to live uptown where the sweet smell of human souls hang in the air. I'm going to work in one of those Great Demon Corporations having the coolest job a demon can ever have. I'm going to become a Soul Collector!
And so there I was on the 5th of November, xx29, on my first day on the job. With my dreams finally coming true and the whole world beneath my talons. I ***** the very first Soul Collector of Clan Calciferrous.
Everything was going my way... until the worst thing that can ever happen to a demon happened to me. That is — being enslaved by a human.
