CHAPTER 27 An Agreement

　　Cecilia paused as her brain processed what she had just heard. She could hear Terri choking on the lemonade. Did Lady Gale just say she knew she wasn't from this realm? How would she have known?

　　"My lady, I believe you are mistaken. I'm from Southport. My parents are..."

　　"You're from a city that was affected by the plague 100 years ago," Lady Gale explained, "Most vampires wouldn't know about that since all the humans that lived there died off in less than a month. Unless you were a miracle child, you can't be from there."

　　Cecilia's face froze in shock. She began to offer an explanation, but Lady Gale waved her off. "You have nothing to fear from me. I will keep your secret."

　　"Why? Why would you?"

　　"Because I like you and I want to learn more about your realm. I feel that is a fair trade," Lady Gale stated.

　　"We need more than that," Terri blurted out, surprising Cecilia. She didn't expect her to want to bargain because of how obedient she was.
