As I stand in front of this massive army of billions I prepare myself to possibly come out of this injured permanently. Then just before Amenadiel gives the command to attack several rifts open beside me and behind me. Coming out of these rifts are my brothers and sisters, angels with Raphael leading them. We are still outnumbered ten to one, but even the average angel is three times as strong as the average demon. Raphael nods to me as I give a battle cry and we all charge the horde of demons.
Amenadiel looked worried at first, but seeing that only a small army of angels came he relaxed slightly since he still outnumbers us. I crash into the demon line after sending a wave of holy fire that kills several hundred thousand demons, but that is barely a dent in their numbers. My brothers and sisters crash into the line with me as we begin to slaughter our way to Amenadiel. The more I fight the stronger I feel myself become as instead of weakening by being surrounded by sin and demons. My wrath only grows making me stronger.
Seems the longer I fight demons and am surrounded by sin the Wrath of God becomes more and more angry. It feeds off the sin in my area wanting to wipe it clean and surges me with power to aid me in cleansing the sinners. Seems I became the beacon of hope and will for the angels fighting as being around me protects them from the weakening. As my wings turn from the normal pure white with whisps of holy fire to pure golden holy fire as my halo burns even brighter. I truly became the light in the darkness of hell as the demons begin to burn up just by entering my space. The angel seem to become even more empowered as waves of holy fire escape me burning every demon.
Amenadiel noticing the change becomes nervous as he finally moves toward me in hopes of killing me in his realm of power. He sends the most powerful blast of hell fire I've ever felt my way as if the realm of sinners is helping him rid me of this place. Though I send an equally powerful blast of holy fire his way as we fly above the battle below us. The two waves of fire meet creating a huge explosion that kills both demons and angels alike in the shock wave. The explosion makes Amenadiel crash back into the throne he flew from, though the explosion only made me stumble back a few feet in the air.
Rushing toward Amenadiel as he struggles to stand up I send another wave of holy fire at him as I land. He reacts in time to block it with his hellfire that is weakening as my continuous blast of holy fire streams at him. He gives out one more cry of defiance before my holy fire consumes him and traps him inside the realm of Wrath for eternal suffering. As I stand and look over the battlefield the remaining hundreds of millions of demons being to retreat back into the depths of hell. As the remaining several tens of millions of angels cheer in victory for me.
"Brother now what?" I ask Raphael who has flown over to me and watch as the remaining brother and sister of ours gather our fallen before returning to the silver city in heaven.
"Now someone must watch over this place in hell," Raphael says to me and I know what he is implying that either I grab Lucifer or stay here myself and become the new warden of hell.
"I understand," I say motioning for him to leave. As I came to terms with never seeing my family again before I came here. Plus Lucifer deserves a second chance, returning here could never give him the redemption he might gain by remaining on earth.
"Brother, are you sure? Once you take that throne there is no turning back," Raphael says to me with concern as he knows that I will be forever trapped here never to see my family again even when their mortal lives end.
"I am, I've lived a good life on the mortal plane. This time let Lucifer enjoy his mortal life and maybe he can regain the forgiveness of Father by the end of it," I say to Raphael as I turn to the throne and being to approach it.
"... Seems you are more forgiving and understanding than any other angel ever made. Maybe that is why Father gave you to mortal to grow up among… they seem to have taught you better than any angel could have," Raphael says to me as I look at the throne of hell and take a seat turning to see Raphael look at me with respect and sadness for the responsibility I am taking on.
"Time for you to return home Raphael," I say to him as he gives me one last saddened look, but with respect in his eyes. Then disappears through a rift back to the silver city.
The silence takes over as I stare out into the dark void that is the last ring of hell. The dead demons disintegrate as they are reborn back into their layer of hell. The only thing left here with me is the sinners trapped in the last layer of hell for eternal torment. The Wrath I felt disappears slowly as I close my eyes on the throne with a small flame of sadness inside me for the knowledge of being alone for eternity enters my mind.
I'm not certain how much time has passed since I sat on the throne since time is vastly different in hell and Heaven. Though I open my eyes to an extremely bright light that takes over the darkness of hell letting no place be left in darkness. What I see in front of me surprises me but I instinctually know who it is, I was just surprised at the form they took.
"Father?" I say seeing God having entered this place himself, which he rarely leaves his realm the void that only certain members have the privilege of entering.
"My son, I was always watching you and everything you've done. I'm very proud of you and the fact you did everything for the greater good, even though it would strip you of everything you cared for. Makes me more proud of you than you could imagine, very few beings in existence, even your fellow brothers and sisters would make the same decisions as you if they were in your place," God says to me as he stands in front of me looking and sounding like Morgan Freeman wearing a pure white suit.
"I look like this because of your memories of the one actor that usually portrays me. I also enjoy him, so I figured why not just show up as him. I have to say out of all my creations his voice is the most soothing one I made," God says to me seeing my surprise at his appearance.
"Though that does not matter, I am here to tell you. You have one more chance to return back to the mortal realm to finish your life there with your family. Don't worry it has only been a few weeks since you left," God says to me surprising me further.
"What about this place? Does it not need an overseer and one who will ensure the demons stay in line?" I ask him worried that if I leave the demons will try something again to disrupt the mortal realm.
"I appreciate the concern you have for others, which is why I'm offering you this chance. As for the overseer of this place, your brother Michael will oversee it. He has offered to after hearing about your sacrifice, plus after seeing that Lucifer is actually changing, albeit slowly, he is willing to become the warden. So what do you say?" God says to me explaining to me his offer.
"Then I accept and tell Michael I'm indebted to him for his offer," I say while bowing my head to God in thanks.
"No need brother, I've lived since before the beginning of time and you have yet to experience everything that existence has to offer," I hear Michael say as he steps through a rift that God has opened for him to come through.
I nod my head in thanks to him as he gives me a happy smile. While God opens a rift back to earth showing the outside of my house on the other side. I stand up and begin to make my way toward it before God says one last thing to me.
"Oh and Akihiko, since you are returning to Earth. I had to limit your powers again, you will not be able to access your true realm until your time as a mortal is over," God says to me and I nod my head in understanding before I walk through.
After stepping through the portal my Anglic form disappears and is replaced by my old mortal form. I stand in front of my house as take everything that has happened and smile to myself as I thank God for his gift to me. I then walk up to my front door and open it to see all my friends and family in the living room. Seems they were all there to talk about me, but at my entrance, they all turn and look at me with surprise.
Breaking out of their surprise Rumi and Eri run over to me and tackle me into a hug as I hold them both and we all cry together extremely happy at the reunion. After a few minutes of hugging and kissing my family, I turn to my friends who come up and hug me at my return. Then once everyone calms down I explain to them what happened, and they tell me what changed in my time gone too.
Seems the government has slowly gotten back control with my Uncle becoming the temporary Prime Minister. Though with the popularity he has with the public will become the real one in the elections soon. Shota and the other teachers have returned to U.A. to finish teaching the kids. While Ryuko has retired as a hero taking the open teaching position after Nemuri's death. Endeavor has retired too as a pro hero, instead spending the rest of his time reconciling with his family.
As time goes by Rumi gives birth to our first son, whom we named after my father, Hirohito Yagi. Eri loved being a big sister, though Rumi returned to her work as she felt regret for not being able to help in the war. While I returned to being a teacher at U.A., Hawks became the number one hero of Japan. My Uncle became the official Prime Minister of Japan and life was heading in a very good direction.
Surprising everyone Shota finally got married a few months after my first son was born, he married another teacher at U.A. called Emi Fukukado. Then Hizashi and Ryuko had a few children over the years, with Shota having a few too. Rumi and I ended up having a total of six kids including Eri, three boys, and three girls. The last two were twin girls, each of our kids seemed to have the abilities of either Rumi, my father, or my mother. Though our first son was the only one who appeared to have an angelic soul as he was capable of using the same powers a me but to a much less powerful degree.
My Uncle even married his protege's mother, though both were too old to have kids at that point. My Uncle still adopted his protege legally making him his son and my cousin. Cathy seemed to get into a relationship with Lilith as they got very close from the war and even married a few years ago. Lucifer still lives on earth with his now wife Chole and only biological daughter, Aurora Morningstar. Life was very good, sure there were still villains and people who thought they could do anything they wanted with their quirks, but that is why we have heroes.
Anyway, that was my life's journey at least up until this point. Rumi was bugging me to write everything down so the world, our kids, and future grandkids could read about it all. Hopefully, this was good enough for her standards, though we will see once she reads it all. But I digress, I hope whoever reads this enjoyed learning about me and what really happened in the war of heroes and villains. Stay safe out there and remember to always do your best to stay out of trouble.
