Chapter 24 (pain)

"I'm in love with you Alma" Kenan confessed.

Alma looked at him with a befuddled expression. Why was he trying to confuse her right now? It is already enough for her that she had to endure all these years and keep her feelings hidden. Now that she finally managed to let it all out, he was trying to mess with her mind!

"I don't believe you. You are lying." Her eyes widened in utmost confusion, searching for any clue in his expression that could back up her assumptions.

"No I'm not." He said in a flat tone. Alma had no idea what to deduce from his facial expressions and his voice tone. But all she knew was that she wasn't going to allow him to mess with her brain. How could he say such a thing? All of a sudden he was letting her know that he was in love with her. Was it because she made known her feelings first? Why didn't he say it all this while? She released herself from his grip and sat up on the bed.
