20 CHAPTER 19

After we got out of the car, Chase locked it, and I grabbed his hand, literally dragging him to our room. He tried getting out of my grip, but I just tightened it. When we reached the room, I flung the door open the door revealing Hailey, Trevor, and Barbara. Barb was sprawled out on the floor watching something on my laptop as Hailey and Trevor were sat on her bed talking.

"How nice of you to finally join us, Sam; who is your friend," Trevor said, getting up and walking to us, trying to intimidate Chase. I must say, it brought me joy to see that he felt the need to be protective of me. Hailey got off her bed and caught his hand, spinning him around "no need to be overprotective, let the child explain herself" at this, I rolled my eyes, and I felt Chase yank his hand out of my grip. I looked at him confused, but I quickly collected myself and looked to the trio smiling.

"Mom, dad, barb, this is Chase" I motioned towards Chase then turned to him. "Chase, this is Hailey, my roommate, her boyfriend Trevor, and Barbara, my best friend" I pointed to them respectively as they smiled at each other.

Barb got up and walked towards us, hugging Chase "nice to meet you," she muttered into the embrace, and Chase relaxed, hugging her back. I just chuckled at his discomfort and pulled him away. I led him to the bed and started a conversation, and everyone chipped in.

So now everyone was getting to know each other, they seemed to get along just fine, and that was a good start. "Hey Sam, you still owe me and trev an explanation for bailing out on us yesterday," Hailey spoke, turning everyone's attention to me. "Well, I uh,,, I um....I " I looked down at my hands and let out an exasperated sigh. Chase held my hand and intertwined our fingers, then brought it to his lips and gave it a light peck. I looked at him and smiled as I felt a tear roll down my cheek.

Barb got up and knelt in front of me. "Don't cry, sweetness, it's okay," she said, wiping my cheeks as the tears rolled down freely. "Hey girl, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to overstep my boundaries," Hailey said with a sad smile. "Yeah, Sam, it's okay if you don't want to tell us, just stop crying," said Trevor patting my shoulder. Woah, this turned to a pity party real quick. "I honestly don't know why I'm crying," I muttered with a bitter laugh.

I sat up and cleared my throat, explaining to them that I'd seen Jayden and Cassandra. I also explained to them why it hurt me cause Hailey and Trevor were in the dark about my senior prom revelation. After I was done, Hailey pulled me to her, so my head was on her chest, and she wrapped her hands around me, rocking us back and forth.

We stayed like that for about five more minutes, and I pulled out of her embrace, rubbing my temples and wiping my cheeks. "Okay, enough pity and emotions, Barb, order some Chinese, and me and Chase can rush down to the store to buy us some drinks, while Hailey and Trevor can go on Netflix and choose a movie already.

 They all agreed, and I grabbed my car keys and rushed down to where I'd parked it with Chase right behind me.
