The First Spacial Mage

Alex is excited, he was finally able to control an element like every other magician. however, his control is too weak and thus he won’t show it to anyone until he meets the standards. He had already seen how the other young magicians had made laughing stocks out of other talentless mages. Later, he learns that it’s more than meets the eye and that he could just maybe become the most powerful wizard.

Chapter 17

After entering and closing the door, he felt a strong gust of wind traveling towards him. He put up an invisible wall to block it while simultaneously creating a massive fan with a giant crank. All of his spacial energy went towards it making its density incredible. After locking the base in place, he then created a giant hand and turned the crank as hard as possible.

The wind molecules were knocked away as if they didn't exist into the opposite direction.

Alex had made a crude creation, but it should be good enough for a show of power. With just one crank, the flow of wind was reversed with a ten times the force.

Alex watched as a blond haired student was thrown backwards along with his dummy. He was only able to save himself after the gust of wind passed him. The dummy however continued on hitting the wall with a loud thud. It was comical as it was flattened like a pancake, but even more so as it bounced off the wall immediately returning back to its original shape. Alex watching it as it sped towards him. He used his spacial element inlaid with the honeycomb pattern, to cover the lights on the ceiling. Immediately the strongest source of light was blocked off, allowing him to use his dark element freely. A large mass of shadows intercepted the dummy and placed it on the ground. A second later the light returned and Alex could be seen looking around at the room.

'There is not much in here, just a dummy and some spheres. We have a lot of space though.' The room was half the size of the gymnasium which could hold all the students.

The blonde haired man looked at the newcomer in amazement. His vision had gone dark, and in the dim light that his friends flames had created, he had seen something that would give many kids nightmares. He had watched the shadows get darker and engulf the dummy which had rebounded towards Alex. The next moment the light returned, and the dummy was on the ground.

He got confused as he didn't recognize the student, and the student was looking around as if he was new here.

'Ah a transfer student, and he is amazing maybe we will have a chance this year.'

Alex watched the student with brown hair look over at him with interest while the blonde haired student ran over to his belongings and pulled out a paper. With a big smile he walked up to the student. "Hey there I'm Tom, and you must be new. I'm the co-captain of the hunting club, we could use someone like you. Especially in the this years Annual magic competitions. A lot of good members graduated last year. Everyone can join, but the hunting club has its own tournament on top of that, with some good prizes."

Alex looked at him with confusion visible in his eyes. "I though only juniors and seniors could join the Competitions."

Tom looked at him quizzically. "Are you a sophomore?"

Alex shook his head denying his claim. "I'm a freshman."

Both of the students jaws dropped. Listening to was he had said was like pouring acid onto the memories of their training.

After a short moment of sulking the brown haired student spoke up. "Well the good thing about club competitions, is that all members can join in. My name is James, and as the other co-captain I would also like to invite you to the club."

"Do all magic club competitions give rewards?"

"Yes they do, are you thinking of also joining the rune-making club, and the potion brewing club."

"Just the rune-making club, although I could try potion brewing out, even if I don't have a fire affinity. What about the racing club?"

"Ooh that is good, I'm a member of those as well, and while I'm not the best in rune making, I am a co-captain for the potion brewing."

"Ha, you show off!" Tom laughed. "I am the captain of the racing club. Here is the paper for that club I always keep them on me." Tom said trying to one up James.

"Normally freshman would have to take a test, but you are rather lucky I'll bring you invitations while you sign up for the, hunting club."

Then James left the room for the papers, Alex filled in the papers, and Tom looked at the badge on Alex's shoulder. A look of understanding filled his face. "You have a grande wind affinity, and a darkness affinity." "No wonder you already have so much power, both are very rare, and difficult to train, but the initial strength is already more powerful than me a fourth year." He smiled. "I have no doubt you would make it into the top ten, if you were to join the join the main tournament, and first place wouldn't be difficult in your fourth year."

"Yeah if I didn't have another element, I would be stuck to a range of a few feet for my wind affinity. Luckily with a lot of training I have overcome that weakness."

Tom nodded, he had watched the shadows within 50 feet of Alex move. It was just barely average. For most students have been training since grade school. He himself could control wind within 250 feet of him. That was only five times that, but it was still only three years ago that he had 75 of that 250. The resources from club competitions had given him a huge boost, and just barely bringing him into what was considered the expert levels.

"That is good I know a few students don't try to meditate before high school. All mages are given a simple booklet whenever they awaken their power, and yet I know a bunch who only halfheartedly practice, probably thinking that just being a mage is enough."

"Are you all done?" He asked as Alex finished writing.

"Yup."

"Good the hunting club meets after school hours at the front of the building. The racing club is a subset of the hunting club. It's a way to train ourselves physically when hunting isn't going well. It's the same with weight training, however the top 5 will join the club competitions rather than all of us."

Alex decided to practice darkness control while waiting. He willed his shadow to take form, with the lights on it was difficult to maintain it, but Alex could tell that it was easier than the last time he had attempted it. 'Just like I though somehow with that last meditation my affinity grew stronger and increased my range.'

"Do you need me to turn the lights off?"

"Nah fighting against the tide, is more exhausting, but it also makes my control increase faster."

"Okay I gotchu." Tom said before returning to lifting a sphere into the air and having it rotate around him.

Suddenly he dropped it. "Wait a minute. You can create a domain?"

Whenever ones understanding of an element reaches a certain height. They can create a small sub field around them where they can control an element freely with very little energy loss.

Alex had no idea what he was speaking of. "What's a domain?"

"When you drowned out all light, well showing is easier then telling." He stepped back and concentrated. "This is a domain."

A clear dome surrounded Tom, anything within it was visibly affected by wind. His clothing rustling as if he were in a storm. Alex could sense all of the energy, it was as if Tom was using energy at a higher rank than normal. It didn't feel like normal wind, but a more pure concentration of it.

"Is this what a darkness domain looks like?" Alex asked while creating a dome next to him. His spacial energy blocking all light from entering.

"Wow, I would suppose so I have never seen one. How much meditation have you done? At most I got mine midway into the expert class, and most other will only see it at the master class."

Alex was deep in thought for a second, he had spent a very long time meditating in theory. He had watched years of other people's lives pass by. It was like reading a book and finishing it in a day. The characters had aged significantly, but he himself had only aged mentally. Alex knew he didn't have a real domain, but he also knew that if it was based on understanding, it wouldn't be too long.

"A long time." He said, with a pondering look on his face.

Alex began to wonder what it would take to create a spacial domain. What would it be able to do. Could he control space and time in it. 'No space and time are the same.' He couldn't help but correct himself. He knew that Drak said he could enter the spacial dimension that slowed time with just the spacial element.

'Does that mean I can control time, he thought back to many instances in school. He recalled a video back in middle school. Scientist had made a documentary of them trying to reach absolute zero. It didn't have much to do with space, but something it said had stood out to him. They said that 'once cold enough things wouldn't age.' With zero movement energy loss is at the absolute minimum. The video had little success though, they had even brought in the overlord class hero, Wyatt to no avail. There was still a fragment of movement.

Alex then recalled a memory that was foggy.
