2 The Plan

The next few classes were uneventful, but all that had nothing to do with Joshua. He was busy figuring out how to get Pheobe to talk to him. The next two classes were P.E(Physical Education). It was a good opportunity to show off and get some attention.

The school was newly built so their batch was the most senior in school and all the facilities were new. There was a huge playground and a football ground next to it. The class was assembled on the ground and told to do some stretches. There was gonna be a 100-meter sprint for the boys so most of the boys did their stretches properly. Joshua was told to come to the center of the circle and lead the exercise. Well, you couldn't help it, Joshua regularly hit the gym and looked the most fit. Ben was also fit but he was too lean for the muscle to show.

After the stretches, everyone worked up a sweat and were ready to take on the sprint. The P.E Teacher was a lean male who had a clean-shaven face. He had a good impression of Joshua because he looked like someone who worked out regularly and was looking forward to the sprint.

Soon, the sprint was about to start, and everyone took their positions.

Before the race, Adam shot Joshua a provocative look and took his stance. Seeing this Joshua smiled even though he didn't focus much on running and mostly did bodyweight exercises he was confident he could beat Adam in a race.

"3.. 2..1 GO!"

Joshua took his stance and sprang forward at the signal like a leopard, kicking up dust, and took the lead with Ben, Thomas, and Adam right at his heels. Soon Ben and Thomas picked up their pace and followed closely behind Joshua, Adam was starting to lose pace and the distance between them started widening. At the 50 meter mark, Joshua still had the lead but Ben and Thomas had already closed in and were right next to him. It couldn't be helped Joshua was not an athlete and did not have much stamina. He was good at short bursts but couldn't keep it up for long.

The last 50 meters were nerve-wracking the three ran together and it looked like they managed to finish at the same. The classmates cheered, and everyone had mixed opinions.

"I think Joshua won, he was clearly in the lead throughout."

"Are you blind! Thomas won for sure."

"I think it Ben, with his height he might have finished first."

"If it's about height then Thomas is the tallest so he is first"

Everyone was discussing the race excitedly and some people even started arguing among themselves.

"Silence!"

As the P.E Instructor raised his voice everyone calmed down.

"I know you all are excited but its time to announce the results, First Place Ben, Second Place Thomas, and Third Joshua"

The students cheered and surrounded Ben, Thomas, and Joshua. The girls were the most enthusiastic and even gave water bottles to them.

Alissa and Pheobe did not act too excited but their frequent glances gave them away.

Joshua squeed out of the crowd and found Ben,

"Nice one man, you were good."

Ben also replied,

"Thanks, man I only won cause of my height"

Joshua smiled but did not say anything and left to look for Thomas. Thomas was a bit cold before but seems to have acknowledged Joshua now. After the event, the students were left to play on their own. Joshua sat on the grass and looked towards Adam. Adam was also looking at him with an ugly face and turned around when his eyes met Joshua.

Joshua ignored him and looked around for Pheobe. He quickly found her and she seemed to be talking with Princess Alissa. They even seemed to get along pretty well.

Noticing someone looking at her Alissa looked towards Joshua. She quickly whispered something to Pheobe and both started giggling at the same time.

Joshua was curious about what they were saying and he found a perfect reason to talk to the girls.

He quickly got up and walked towards them at a slow pace. When he reached them he sat next to Alissa and Pheobe was sitting on the other side.

"So what's up you guys making fun of me?"

"Haha, no that's not it, I was just telling Pheobe about how all the guys keep looking at us."

"Oh, you don't like it?"

"Depends on who it is"

"Heh, What about me?"

Joshua smirked and asked Alissa

Alissa looked at Joshua up and down and looked away with a hint of red on her face,

"You are fine"

Joshua moved closer to Alissa and whispered in her ears

"Only fine?"

Alissa turned towards Joshua and both of them looked into the eyes of each other and their faces were getting really close.

"Alright, you two stop flirting in the open everyone's watching"

Pheobe could not take it anymore and interrupted their moment.

Joshua back off and smiled wryly when he noticed that almost everyone was looking at them, Ben was even giving him a thumbs up.

After that Joshua got up and left leaving the girls to themselves. P.E was over and it was the last class so it was time to go home. Before leaving Joshua did not forget to check on Pheobe,

'It seemed to have worked,'

Joshua had a plan when he decided to talk to the girls. Joshua could tell that Pheobe was the type of girl who would ignore you if you sucked up to her but if you ignored her she would be interested in you. So, Joshua flirted with Alissa but ignored Pheobe so that she would feel competitive and be interested in him. It was a risky plan but it seemed to have worked as she's probably feeling conflicted at being ignored by him. A Little More of a push and her interest will develop into something more.
