The Doctor and The Princess

"You are not allowed to leave this palace" The palace guard said to Princess Fina whom stood besides the gate wanting to leave the palace walls and go outside, to see what the outside world really look like.

"Why am I not allowed to go out, I am a princess, I demand you open the gate now!" Princess Fina commanded as she stood elegant waiting for the royal guard to obey her command.

"Am sorry your highness, but his majesty warned us not to let you outside the castle, if we fail to do that and disobey the king, then we will be killed, am sorry but we can not disobey his majesty command, kindly go back inside my princess, it not safe for you out there and i wouldn't like any news or report to get to his majesty ears, that his beautiful princess was seen standing by the gate" The head of the palace guard spoke and Fina gritted her teeth, while she turned and went back inside the castle.

Princess Fina is the only daughter born to King Cartus of Elly kingdom, his wife Queen Cinda couldn't give birth to a heir, a male son and due to the bitterness, King Cartus refused to allow his only daughter go outside of the palace or show up in any royal occasion.

Queen Cinda had tried talking to her husband to marry another wife whom will birth for him a heir apparent to the throne, but King Cartus refused, he claimed that marrying a second wife wouldn't solve his problem but only enlarge it.

"How will marrying a second give me a son, what if she comes into this palace and birth only female children, and besides am already getting old, I can't marry another woman and that's final" King Cartus had dismissed his wife Queen Cinda's suggestions and persuasion for him to get another wife.

"But why wouldn't you want to remarry, you are torturing our only daughter she's not happy, being locked up everyday in her father's Palace like she is a prisoner, try and understand you are not making her happy by doing all these" .

"Enough woman, someday she will get to understand why I do not allow her leave these palace gate, a lot of enemies and she's to young now to understand my reasons, when she comes of age she will understand my reason, now will you let me be" King Cartus dismiss his wife to leave him alone.

How does he explain it to Cinda that marrying another woman wasn't the problem but him, yes he had failed to get her Pregnant after the birth of their only daughter. The gods must have a reason as to why he only has one daughter and he can not marry another wife, even though their custom and tradition allows it.

King Cartus had always seen his wife as his most ultimate treasure, he fell in love with her and married her, he didn't marry her solely to just come into the palace and produce him children, he married her out of love and he knows more than anyone else she was hurting really badly, for not being able to produce him a son. If Fina were to be a boy, he was sure his wife will be less worried.

Now the council of elders are hanging up against him, demanding that he should take in another wife from their community as they believed Queen Cinda was a curse to their kingdom that was the more reason why she couldn't birth him a son.

The head of the council of elders Mr James insisted he must marry another Queen from there tribe to bear him a son. The council of elders where like a supreme Court whom passes law to the Royal family and the law must be abided with, if the rest of the elders agreed to it.

"Your highness, it been Sixteen years since your wife gave birth to Fina and since then no other child has been born, permit me to say the Queen is incapable of bringing in a heir for us, why not accept the proposal of marrying another Queen besides it not a Taboo" Mr James stood up in the council of elders meeting as he spoke.

"I agree with him your Majesty, a woman can not lead our people if that's is why you haven't accepted to remarry another Queen yet" Mr Jude spoke next.

"Same with me your majesty, if Queen Cinda is incapable then what's stop you from being capable and remarry or is his Majesty incompetent?" Mr Steward spoke next and the King frown after hearing what most of his council are saying.

"Enough!" King Cartus raise his staff of honour to silence the court room.

"Queen Cinda is competent same as I am, anyone who speak Iill of the Royal family again will be thrown into the dugeon, this is my last warning" King Cartus said as he called for the meeting to be postponed.

The Court room immediately fell into silent as no one dares to disobey the king order.

Shortly the head of the council stood up

"Long live his Majesty King Cartus, May your reign be long on Earth" Mr James spoke

"Your majesty, we have agreed to postpone the meeting but we need to point out some facts, The Royal family can not continue to be silent when there is no heir or next apparent to the throne, we only have our suggestion as we wouldn't want war to start if we do not get to see you again, so the conclusion remain that if you do not want to get a new wife, allow us to find a new wife for you as we have so many beautiful maiden in our community that will love to give you a male child" Mr James said, and the King just stare at him

"Mr James is right your highness, allow us to look for a new wife for you?" Mr Jude defended.

The rest of the elders went into chaos discussion and majority of them were supporting Mr James demands.

"Is Mr James the ruler or I am?" King Cartus demanded. "I have promise to give the council feed back these meeting will have to be rescheduled pertaining to the topic, as for now no more discussion about the royal family, any other relevant topic to discuss about apart from a new Queen?" King Cartus ask and the secretary look into their other demands that where enlisted before the meeting had started and he pass the scroll to the spoke person whom started reading the order demands written from the scroll.

After the meeting ended, Mr Jude and Mr Steward started gossiping on their way back to their home

"I can't believe his majesty is still against the idea of marrying another woman, why should he still be postponing a serious matter as these, is it until he get old that he will consider marrying a new wife, when no maiden will want to marry him or accept to be his second wife" Mr Jude said.

"Don't bad-mouth his majesty, even if he gets old he can still remarry?" Mr Steward replied.
