Chapter 1Chapter 1: Why is this happening to me!

Greetings reader. You may not know me, but I know you. You see, I have the ability to shift universes. If I so please, I could kill everyone and thing that ever existed, well, to a certain extent. Luckily for you, I'm a pretty good guy, even if I misuse my powers a little. My name is Jihuun Kong, and this is my story, from becoming a junior reality warper to Overthrowing the gods.

From now on, I will be narrating my own story. Let's start at the beginning. Jihuun Kong is a typical office worker for a large company. He slaves away at his desk day after day doing the exact same thing. A dead-end job. He attends all of the parties, has a little bit of fun, but never too much. One fateful day, something was different. As he was taking his usual route to work, he noticed something in the back of his mind, something trying to grab his attention. After 3 days straight of this mental tug, he decided to give in, and something inside of him was pulling him toward a shady and dark alley. "There is no way in hell I'd go down there!" he thought, then all of a sudden, a large purple screen appeared in front of his face. The screen read "Would you like to accept the power of the one above all?" "…What does that even mean?" He wondered. After staring at the iridescent purple, seemingly untethered screen for a few seconds, he gathered all but one thing. "This is too crazy for me." So, Jihuun turned around and continued on his normal path to work.

After another exhausting day at work, he returns home to his modest apartment. He lived on the 12th floor of a typical Korean apartment style complex; it was simple and small. He never struggled to move around in his tiny 4 room apartment, but lately the lack of space had been getting to him. He felt cramped all the time, especially in the minuscule bathroom. He steps into his narrow bathtub filled with warm water and lies down. He looks to the ceiling and ponders what his purpose is on the planet. "What am I even here for?" He thought aloud. Soon after, he steps out of the tub and dries himself off. He puts on his bedtime clothes and brushes his teeth before hitting the hay. During this particular night, he dreams of that strange alley he was pulled to not a day before. He envisioned the bricks of the building magically shifting to reveal a doorway into the void. Suddenly, Jihuun is violently woken up to the sound of the fire alarm going off. He puts his slippers on and a bathrobe and runs towards his front door. As he reaches the door, he is shocked to find that the door handle is burning hot. "Shit, shit shit shit!" This was just like the safety videos they made him watch at work. The burning door handle meant the fire was right outside the door. The overwhelming smell of smoke filled his lungs and he started coughing. All of a sudden, the screen from days prior appears in front of his face again displaying the same message. "Would you like to accept the power of the one above all?". In a fit of panic, he flails his hands through the screen trying to make it do something. He begins screaming, "Yes! I accept the powers of the one above all!" The second Jihuun says the word, the fire and smoke stop pouring in. He gasps and inhales fresh air. A new screen appears in front of Jihuun, this time what it says is much more disturbing. "Jump out of your window to prove your worth."

Jihuun stares at the screen in pure terror. "It wants me to, j-jump out of my window…" The screen changes, "You have 3 minutes to decide your fate. Choose wisely." Jihuun stares into the void, and suddenly bursts into a fit of panic. "WHAT DOES ALL OF THIS MEAN!? WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?!" Jihunn falls to the floor, staring at the ceiling once again. He is trying to come to terms with the fact he is going to die. Just as he accepts his fate, the screen changes once more. A new, pink screen appears.

The screen says to Jihuun, "Jump, it's the only way. Trust me."

Heavily weighing his options, Jihuun looks at the original purple screen. It now displays a time of 40 seconds. "This is it for me." He thinks. Jihuun staggers to his feet and walks towards his window. He looks down at the ground hundreds of feet below him. The dark night sky perfectly compliments the neon colors of the city he inhabits. "At least my death will be quicker this way." He speaks. Jihuun opens his sliding window and jumps onto the ledge. He perches on the balls of feet looking at the city, and taking one final look at his apartment. The fire really was right outside his door, in fact it had entered his apartment. "10. 9. 8-" The screen warned. Sweating bullets, Jihuun leaps from his window and closes his eyes tight. Tears are being forced out by the air hitting his face, and he can't help but open his eyes for a second. "It's, beautiful." He mutters. He braces for impact with the ground. After clenching his whole body for a solid minute, he begins to wonder why he's not hitting the ground. He opens his eyes only to reveal that he no longer in his city but suspended in a white void. "This is it, the afterlife. I died." He exclaims. "I've come to terms with my life, it wasn't gr-." Jihuun is cut-off by a screen popping into vision. The screen has turned black, and it now reads "You have proven your worth to the gods. You will now be granted access to the system."

"Now you see?" she shouted in a tone that was somewhere between annoyance and disappointment. "You can’t outsmart Scrients! They’re the most intelligent beings across the two realms!" "You’re right," I muttered, averting my gaze with a solemn sigh. "I made a mistake. I was arrogant to think a mere human like me could fool them." —BOOM!! "...Wh-What was that?" "Hmm? I’m not sure. Maybe you should go and ask the most intelligent beings across the two realms. Oh wait! You can’t. I killed them all." --- My name is Samael Kaizer Theosbane. On the last day of high school, I got into a fight with a kid I used to bully. It was a stupid and pointless scuffle. And in the middle of it, I tripped and smacked my head on a rock. That’s when the memories came flooding in… Memories of a different life. Memories of another world. Suddenly, everything made a twisted kind of sense. I realized two things. First: I was inside a game I used to play in my past life. Second: I was a villain. A villain! Not the cool, mysterious, tragic kind either! No, I was the worst kind of cliché — a spoiled, insufferable, and arrogant young master. The sort you'd find in those poorly written fantasy stories. You know the type! The one everyone hates. The one the hero would beat into the ground to show everyone just how strong and righteous he is. Yeah. I was that guy! My fate was to be a stepping stone for the main characters, be manipulated by a Demon Prince, and die a dog's death. And the hero? The hero was the same kid I’d been bullying all this time. The one I just got into a fight with. He was supposed to be the savior of this damned world. A world teetering on the edge of destruction, beset by wars, calamities, and a grim future that only I knew. And waiting at the end of it all was the final antagonist. The unbeatable nightmare. …The Spirit King. But could I even make it to the end? Could I really survive in a game where defeat was the only certainty? A game that had now become my reality? “Ah, fuck it.” I had no idea if I could. But I sure as hell was going to try. Extorting extras, manipulating main characters, altering the story to my advantage, stealing the hero’s cheat items, killing villains long before they could become threats — nothing was beneath me. Would the main characters be affected by my actions? Excellent! Would the story change? Even better! All I cared about was me. My survival. My life. My choices. “I’ll live this life with no regrets.” ...But as I soon discovered, fate wasn't so easily changed. And the price of rewriting your destiny was steep. ========== Discord Server: https://discord.gg/VjFQtDUaTR
