Darling Husband

Ann went back to the bed and lay down watching Michael, who had begun to cleanup the leftovers from the table. Ann glanced at him from time to time, enjoying seeing him move around busily. For a moment, she forgot that he was the chairman of her company and imagined him to be her "special someone". Perhaps this is what it is to be like home. She sighed.

"I'll go now and call the nurse", Michael told her and left the room.

Ann was left alone in the room with her thoughts.

It was only three days now since they had met. Ann felt uncanny about how things had changed overnight. He was her boss till yesterday, now he was behaving like her boyfriend, taking care of her and saying sweet things.

Michael said he was doing all this because he felt sorry for her about yesterday. But she was not convinced with his reply. There was something more to it. He is the chairman of a big company. How could he drop all his work and be with her for such a petty reason. Ann was deep in her thoughts when the door opened.

"Pumpkin, the nurse is here." he said and winked.

"Oho...He is still playing husband and wife. Well, two can play at that game." Ann thought with an evil grin.

" Hello Ms.Annastasia. Everything ok?". The nurse smiled while adjusting the drip.

"Everything is fine except for my darling husband, who worries like crazy". Ann smiled like a Cheshire cat. "Love, I don't want you to get worried sick. Seeing you like this breaks my heart." She pouted looking at him.

Michael was stunned and stood rooted to the spot for a bit. He didn't think that Ann would play along.

How he wished it to be real.

"Such a lovely couple", the nurse said. Seeing you guys reminds me of the time when my husband was there. He was the most caring, loving and romantic husband one could get." She reminisced about old times. "It was a memorable marriage. He had always stayed around me and was always on top of me..." she laughed.

Ann blushed hearing this. She stole a glance at Michael, who couldn't take his eyes off her.

But time was not with him.",the nurse continued sighing.

" I'm sorry. I.. didn't.. know.."Ann was lost for words.

" Oh..no no dear...it is all in the past now. Don't worry. Actually, it's hard to find such love in couples nowadays. But you are lucky to have him, my dear. I can notice that just from the way he looks at you - with so much love and care", the nurse smiled and said.

Ann looked up at Michael who was gazing lovingly at her. He saw her smiling softly at him, but this time it was different. There was some warmth in the way she looked.

It was like they were having an unspoken conversation with their eyes.

"Hmm...hmm...", The nurse grunted.

"I better go leaving you two love birds alone."

Ann looked away from Michael to the nurse.

"If you feel any discomfort, please tell your husband to call me immediately.", the nurse said.

" Honey... You heard her right?." Ann said with a sweet smile and melodious voice.

Michael was not able to hold it any longer. He walked past the nurse, straight to Ann, bent down and looked at her eyes. He cupped her face. His gaze now moved from her eyes to her lips. He started to get closer to her. His breath was warm against her lips. His scent was hypnotizing her. Ann felt like her heart was about to explode now. She was feeling butterflies everywhere. She was ready to devour his lips anytime now. Ann closed her eyes and parted her lips.
