Stellaris Ace
Dave was just an ordinary boy when the world turned to shit. A gigantic monolith suddenly appeared in the sky one day, much to people's fright. Nothing happened for months, and gradually, the strange structure was regarded as an addition to the World's Wonders and peak research subject for scientists all around the world.
When people grew complacent enough, the sky rumbled and the ground shook. A truly gargantuan crack appeared in the sky, and vicious, winged creatures flooded the world. Megacities crumbled, governments collapsed, and people lived in terror. The creatures held dominion over the expansive blue skies above.
The creatures were invulnerable to any weaponry humanity had, even nuclear warheads were nothing but slight inconvenience to them. Nothing they did could hurt the creatures, until they found something. A ray of hope.
A seemingly ordinary fighter jet pilot hunted one of those creatures down. From that point onwards, the skies no longer belonged to those creatures alone.
So humanity turned to the skies, harnessing their newfound technology bestowed by a benevolent Goddess from another world and retaliate against their oppressors.
More than a decade a later, Dave still couldn't escape the sorrow brought by the Divergence. Everything he loved was robbed from him, so he lived like a broken doll. That is until a repeat of his worst nightmare happened once again, and he has to make a choice.
To end his miserable life, or fight like hell and erase this nightmare with his own hand.
It was an easy choice to make.
His personal insignia looked really good, he thought.
