The Alpha On Campus

Everyone has that one person who makes them uncomfortable. That guy when he walks in a room you can feel the energy shift. A constant string of different girls under his arm, never really caring about much of anyone but himself. Two years I spent avoiding him, making sure he never knew I even existed. Even though we’re apart of the pack, a few families like mine weren’t able to talk to our wolves. Not ranking in a society built on levels can really take it out of you, so being in the same room as them is nevertheless difficult.. Who knew that all of that avoiding would eventually bring me here to this moment. Striding towards me was that same guy, dripping blood on the floor as he walked. "Mate.." he said sliding out the chair on the other side of the table plopping down into it. His face had splattered blood all across it, causing his piercing emerald eyes to shine bright against the red. I wanted to run.

It must have been love

The smell of silver woke me from my already restless sleep. The screams of other prisoners' had kept me from reaching any hope of sleep and when they finally stopped the smell took over the entire cell. Even though I was awake I kept my eyes closed, I didn't want to peak their interest in me at all. Fallon had been silent since that witch made her threat. Although I could still feel her I could not draw on her power to help me escape.

I kept my breathing steady and racked my brain for any information I could remember. The car left from the back of the club and drove straight. We're definitely in human territory. With the scent wafting through the halls I could tell this was some sort of base for the hunters. Another deep breath in let me know there were quite a few humans amongst the poor souls in the cells.

I heard foot steps approaching my cell and stop out front of it. I kept calm and my breathing steady. A second set of steps came down and stopped next to the other pair.

"It seems she is still asleep Stria." a masculine voice said.

"I guess I must have done more damage than I thought." she laughed "Let her sleep. Its the last she will be getting for a while."

"Yes Stria." he said matter-of-factly. They started to walk away from my cell, I was so relieved.

"Oh and since we have her, he should be coming for her soon. We will attack then." she said with nothing but malic in her voice.

My heart sped up just a little but I was able to catch it before anyone else could. Once again I focused on my breathing. They were going to attack the pack, I had to do something. I wondered if I the moon goddess would help. Quickly I tried to enter her domain but for some reason I could not get back to her.

Feeling defeated I relaxed and imagined the dark place I had been before. I tried to remember every detail I could. I remembered the endless darkness, but when she stepped into it the whole place had lit up. The floor had looked as if there was a layer of water over it or maybe it was water itself. I imagined myself walking a top the wave less water.

My mind drifted slowly leading me back into the goddess's home. As soon as I finished fully entering I saw Fallon running towards me at full speed. I opened my arms and took her in to them.

"I've missed you." I said nuzzling into her fur.

"And I you." she said back sounding hurt.

"We need a plan girl, I'm stuck. Can you reach Rainer?" I asked her hoping for some kind of life line.

"I don't know, I haven't felt him but I haven't tried to reach out to him here." she said whimpering.

"Its okay. Try tonight." I looked around, there was light here but no goddess to be seen. "Where is she?" I asked looking around. It looked like a endless ocean with no land in sight.

"She is sleeping stupid. Its day time." she rolled her eyes at my ignorance.

"Oh okay. I have to go back now." I gave her one more hug before thinking the thought to return to my body.

When I opened my eyes again I realized I had been moved. The room around me had white walls and a white floor. It smelled of ammonia and blood, even some of the white tiles below me had deep burgundy shades stained into them. My hands and feet were bound to the chair I was sitting in with thick leather straps. I tried to move them using what ever strength I had left but it was to no avail. The door swung open scaring me, it revealed the one person I did not want to see.

"Looks like your back." Stria laughed but the laughter did not reach her eyes. "Did you have fun communing with the goddess?" she said turning to a table on the side of the room setting down a bag.

"She is asleep. Its day light." I said flatly not wanting to give away my fear, "It definitely smells better there than it does here." I finished.

"You don't say." she started to take out items from the bag one by one. Each item more strange than the last.

"Why are you doing this?" I asked again, she paused for a moment before turning to me.

"Because of what you filthy mongrels' did to me!" she raged as she walked over to me. "How about I show you exactly what I mean." she put both of her hands on either side of my head right looking deep into my eyes. Her already dark eyes turned fully black right in front of mine.

"W...What are you going to do?" I stammered faltering in my resolve.

"I'm going to show you exactly why you should not exist!" she screamed pressing her hands into my temples.

In a swirl the room began to change and both in shape and size. The only thing that stayed steady were her black eyes which were still locked with mine. I felt as if I was going to throw up but when the first wretch was about to come it stopped. Barely holding it back I looked around to see we were no longer in that white room but in an open field.

"My people were peaceful practitioners, we collected and grew herbs helping our neighbors. We even lived as healers for the humans. Well when they did not fear us witches." Stria finally tore her gaze away from me and looked out to the field. "This is where my family would come to harvest our plants and plant new ones to keep balance." she walked forward, even though I was seated my seat moved along with her.

"Its beautiful." I said hoping to keep her in this happy moment. Although this did the exact opposite.

"It was." as she said that the field burst into flames around us, although they seemed so real there was no heat from them. "One day the humans saw the wrong witch healing someone in a way that was forbidden and burnt all of our supplies. They chased us out after we helped them so many times." the hurt in her voice was eminent but the hatred over powered it.

"Humans can be that way. This is why we stay secret." I said quietly.

"Do you want to know what she had done?" she turned to me, "She had created the first one of you." the hatred took over. "She saved her loves life by appealing to the gods and goddesses. The goddess of the moon answered her sorrowful calls. She changed them for ever." her head turned back to a small building off into the distance.

"H..How o..old are you?" I stammered looking at her. She couldn't have been a day older than thirty.

"Ha, don't you know your never supposed to ask a lady her age." she started toward a small shack. "This is where I spent so many years, practicing and learning. I would never again let myself be hurt and chased out like that again. Eventually I honed my skill of transformation, not into a dog but into other people who so graciously give me their life force." she laughed a menacing laugh.

The shack looked like it had been built in a time that even I couldn't recognize. She opened the door and walked in, of course my seat followed suit. There was a small hearth to the one side of the house. On the other a straw bed was thrown into one corner and a bucket on the other. In the center was a large table with a rack hanging above. The rack held some pots but also fresh herbs that had been set up to dry.

"This was my home for a very," she stopped to look at me "Very long time. That was until twenty five years ago." her eyes went even darker this time.

A knock came at the door, light at first then with helplessness. When she opened it it showed a group of men and a few women.

"Please ma'am we're being chased by these men who want to kill us please help." the mans pleas some how got through to her and she let them in. "Thank you so much, we will never know how to repay you." he grabbed her hand and shook it vigorously. The man looked extremely familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on where I had seen him.

"I..Its okay." a version of her said, she stepped to the side and allowed the scenes to play out.

At first she was wary of these new people, after all she had spent so many years alone. Yet slowly but surely the man and his group got her to open up and finally feel again. The scene shifted to them finally revealing to her what they were. Although the shock and horror was plastered on her face she accepted them. She accepted him. It shifted again showing a small fire in the hearth of the small shack, just her and the man awake sitting by it.

"We are going to leave soon." he said looking at her with sorrow.

"W..Why?" she stammered, tears clearly welling up in her eyes.

"It is the way we are, we're a nomadic pack... You should come with us." he said taking her hand in his.

"I don't know about that." she placed a hand over his, "Eric, I've been here so long. I don't know if I could live in the world that is out there now." she said.

The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. The man she is showing me is non other than my father. I couldn't help but suck in a breath of air. She barely noticed, she was wrapped up in the show going on in front of her.

"Trista." I said flatly, her head snapped towards me.

"NEVER CALL ME THAT." she walked over and slapped me hard across the face. "I see they did tell you about me after all." she said with amusement.

"You can't change the mate bond, its not like he meant to hurt you." I pleaded with her.

"No, its the moon goddess fault. If she had never answered that call. If she had never gave him that mate. I could have, no I should have been his mate." she raged coming over and grabbing me by the throat. "And all you are is a reminder that he chose her over me, I am going to send you back to them bit by bit. And once I'm done I am going to destroy all of you filthy dogs." she finished finally releasing me.

I watched as the room moved again except it was a small town in a heavily wooded area. In the center of the town sat a beautiful pond that was surrounded by flowers. Inside the pool swam elegant coy fish along side the floating lilies. It was one of the most beautiful places I had ever seen. As their group approached a young woman ran out of one of the houses and directly to my dad. It was my mom, she looked so beautiful with her long auburn hair flowing around her face framing her light brown eyes.

"You've finally come mate." she said ignoring the whole group behind him, "I am Rose, Alpha of the Children of the goddess." she smiled sweetly at him.

"Mate." was all my dad could muster, he was so consumed by her, he completely forgot Trista was standing there. "I am Eric, this is our pack, we're roamers." he said never taking his eyes off of her.

"Hi, I'm Trista." she said awkwardly finally snapping them out of the mating pull daze.

"Oh hello! Welcome everyone, if you need anything please do not hesitate to ask." she smiled warmly at all of them. Another young woman came running up to my mom. I could recognized those eyes any where, it was Serena!

"Luna, I have prepared a place for them to stay tonight." she said with a slight bow of her head.

"Thank you! This is my best friend and beta Serena. You can ask her for anything as well." she said throwing her arm around Serena's shoulders.

I was amazed, our luna was once my mom's beta. Quickly they started speaking in another language, the realization slowly seeped in that I had seen them do this once before. Just as quick as they started they stopped.

"You speak the language of the witches?" Trista said in amazement.

"Of course, the goddess blessed out first alpha with the gift of transformation and love. She taught it to us and as tradition we continue to learn it." my mom said smiling at the thought.

At this point I realized that the hatred she shared for my mother and father went deeper than a broken heart. My mom was a descendent of the very first wolves, that she was connected to Trista's pain deeper than I had thought. I looked up to the real Trista. She looked lost, I actually pitied her. She turned and looked at me seeing my thoughts plastered on my face.

"Don't you dare think less of me." she said waving her hand and ending the show.

"I just.." I stopped short not wanting to dig myself any deeper of a hole.

She walked back over to the table picking up a small surgical knife admiring it. Slowly she walked back over to me and eyed me up and down. The fear and panic rose inside of me but I kept my face emotionless. I didn't want to give her the satisfaction of seeing me down.

"Even with out your wolf you are still fairly strong. If you didn't disgust me I might have actually admired that trait." she leaned over grabbing a lock of my hair and slicing it off. "I'll start with this to get them riled up." she let our a malice laced laugh.

She walked over to the table placing the hair in a box. Quickly she spoke a few words over it causing the box to shake. It kept shaking faster and faster until it was a blur and then gone all together. She looked back over to me pleased with herself.

"Guards. Take her back to her cell." she called over her shoulder. Two large men walked in. "Get comfy little mutt your going to be here a while." she laughed even harder as she turned to leave.

The two men came over and unlatched me, both being very careful to work together ensuring I had no escape. I would have thought these to be hunters but the strength they were displaying were that of rouges. As they walked me back to my cell I finally caught the scent of death wafting off of them. Peeking up at their eyes I could see there was nothing but a red film over the entirety of their eyes. I suppose this is how she was able to control the normally feral creatures.

When I was finally alone in my cell I immediately went into the goddess's domain hoping to hear good things from Fallon.

"Did you get through to them?" I asked as she walked over to me.

"No unfortunately but I was able to find someone else who is going to help." she yipped excited she did well.

"Who?" I asked wondering who could possibly help.

"The Luna visited while you were away, she said the goddess called to her." Fallon explained. "She is going to tell Finn, we're going to be okay." she finished nuzzling into me. I tried to hold back the tears that threatened to fall, but they won. I laid down next to her crying tears of joy and fear.
