It was raining ; water dripping from the ceiling , cool breeze coming from the window made me shiver. The city light's flashed on the window , in the night the city looked beautiful as ever.

Feeling cold I wrapped myself with the blanket beside me , the wind made the room even cooler. The sensible thing to do was to close the window. But I was there lying on my bed thinking ,

'Should I get up and close the window?'

Letting out a huge sigh I tried getting out of my bed , but then I said ,

"Nah , I'm too tired to close the window. It's not worth it anyways , this blanket is enough for now."

'Tired? Too tired? For what? What have I done today?'

'Nothing'

I've done nothing but just lying on my bed , attending some lectures and thinking about whether I should close the window or not. So why am I tired?

The word 'Tired' didn't explain my actions , It's cause I was unmotivated. unmotivated to close the window , unmotivated to walk , unmotivated to move unmotivated to... live.

'Ahh why am I even alive? Does my life have any kind of meaning to it?'

Questioning my existence , I forgot to close my window. The cold breeze blew in the room with me wrapped in the blanket , it was 19:53 on the clock. Suddenly my phone rang.

'Beep Beep'

It was a notification on my phone. The message was from my friend 'Rin'. Rin was a game addict he was the first and the only friend I made in Rails University. He was below average when it came to study but a good friend. He would always help me if I'd asked , but mostly it was the other way around.

I opened the notification which took me to the messaging app. The message from Rin was regarding our university.

<Yoo Axel, you prepared yet?>

<Prepared? For what? Was there some kind of event at university tomorrow?>

<For real?>

<You don't know?>

<Just tell me already>

<Well I guess the time has come to see our average boy Axel to fail in a test>

'Test?'

I checked my schedule which was lying on the floor and saw that tomorrow indeed was my class test day. Sighing with no change in expression I replied ,

<I completely forgot about that. I've to go study now for tomorrow's test. Also thanks for telling me in advance>

<Thanking me is alright but are you going to fail this or not?>

<Well , who knows. Anyways , Bye>

<Hey hey even a guess will do it , how much do you think you'll score?>

<BYE>

<Yeah , Bye.>

The reason Rin asked me the marks I could get was because my classmates gambled on my test scores. Apparently my classmates used to bet on the scores I got on my tests.

Whether I will fail or pass , or will I get average marks in all the tests. That's what they betted on the reason was simple ever since I've been attending this university I've not scored more than 75.

Why? cause I wanted to be average that's it. Every test I scored 70 out of 100 marks. Some of my classmates knew that I'd potential to be a ranker and to be in better university than my current one. I also knew this , but this was my decision.

Rin thought that I might just break my average marks streak tomorrow , he asked me so that he could bet on my scores. After switching my phone off I got up and walked towards the window and closed it.

On my study table some books were already opened with numerous questions solved on them , looking at them I thought ,

'When did I studied last time? hah , let's just get to it.'

After studying for approximately 4 hours , I got up from my chair. After drinking some water I headed towards my bed. Scrolling through my phone. A lot was going in the world , but Gaming was always trending at the top.

Even if I tried to dodge the news about gaming , it influenced the media so much that every 2 posts on stargram were gaming related. Something about Zeal , Finn , etc. were posted on it.

'Is playing games that fun? Everywhere I go I see those Fantasy game's ads and those guild invitation's photos posted on social media.'

It was annoying sometimes , but it was what it was.

Watching some online video's I wasted my time. Until I saw the time , it was 23:59. Thinking that it was late I was going to switch off my phone and then go to sleep but then suddenly-

'Beep Beep'

A notification popped up on the screen. I was thinking it was Rin cause he was used to pull all nighters to play games all the time , but it wasn't a message from him. The notification said ,

「 Application Form For Early Access Of Infinite 」

The blue coloured notification box flashed before my eyes in that lifeless cold room. Who would've guessed that this single message would bring joy , sorrow , excitement and the other feelings I'd never felt in my life.
