1 Haven

"The city of Haven, some say it's the safest city on the planet. Others say it's a breeding ground for corruption and wickedness. The city with the most hero training facilities also creates more

corrupt heroes than any other city. Even with 10% of the city's population being made up of heroes these tragedies still happen. And I feel like these tragedies are starting to become more frequent. Though, isn't that just the unpredictability of life... Don't you agree, Detective Caster, sir."

The officer speaks to a detective arriving at the scene of a murder. The detective has a tired looking expression on. It makes sense, as it is early in the morning and he usually doesn't get up this early. Chase J. Caster was also up very late the night before because he was writing up a bunch of reports he had forgotten to write days prior. Today he wore a white dress shirt with a black tie, black pants, and black dress shoes. Since it rained, and was cold, that morning he wore a grey coat with silver buttons. He takes a sip of his coffee as he walks up the path to the house.

"Getting back into writing I see Officer Lanely." He gives the officer a tired smirk. "Yeah, I'm thinking of starting a blog actually." he smiles shamefully. "About?" "Ummm, I want it to be about the different forms of corruption in the city" "Well good luck Lanely. I think it's an incredible idea" The detective says as he walks up the front steps of a two story house and enters a beautiful home that is very well kept and seems to have been a very comfortable living space.

"So who's our victim, Lanely" he says observingly, as he looks over the living room in where the murder took place. "Her name is Celsea Zunder. She's a 35 year old mother of 3 boys. Ms. Zunder worked as an accountant at Crimson Bank and was a star employee, as well. She doesn't seem to have any enemies that seem obvious. Ugh, She adopted two of the boys she takes care of, ah I mean took care of " he says stutteringly"and the eldest son is her only blood relative left."

"So Lanely, about the kids, have you gotten their statements yet." "Ugh, no sir, they were making a big fuss so we had to take them back to the station. So if you would like to talk to them they're still there, sir." The detective sighs as he overlooks the corpse of their mother whose body is covered in over hundreds of different cuts, but, strangely, none of them seem to have been the cause of her death.

He gets up from the crime scene, and with a sigh he says "Alright then, I guess I'll head over to the station to get their statements." Officer Lanely then says in a concerned tone "I hear they're a rowdy bunch sir, so good luck." He then chuckles.

As the detective walks to his car he thinks to himself," Poor kids, just got their whole world ripped away from them, hmph, damn. What a crazy world we live in." As he throws away his empty coffee cup in the trash bin outside the house and steps into his car and drives away from the start of a tragedy.
