Chapter 14
Skylar looks up, meeting Quinn’s eyes for the second time that day.
Quinn holds his gaze, pouring all his love, faith, and trust into that one look, willing Skylar to believe his words. “There’s no shame in accepting help. I don’t think less of you. I’ve never thought any less of you.”
“I know,” Skylar says, his voice betraying his doubt. Quinn’s heart aches at the sound of it. “Thank you.”
Quinn wants to sit Skylar down and not let him up until he believes that he is worth something, but Skylar retreats back into his room before Quinn can say another word. Just as well. Quinn probably would have mucked it up somehow and pushed Skylar away.
He looks back down at his phone and can’t help the wave of pride he feels wash over him. Skylar wanted his help. It is a small step, but a step nonetheless. And Quinn is determined to do all he can to help.
