The Marquis frowned at the crimson-haired woman's statement and now, this companion of hers makes him curious about who he is, and since Scarlette said that he might recognized that companion named Ryan Wayne then, it means Jeffrey had either fought him back then or had met this person under circumstances.

For that moment, the Marquis shrugged off his shoulders and said; "Since it's you then, I know you can handle this matter. If things are going out of hand, then, let me help you with this before it gets worst."

Scarlette looked at him and said; "I know. Thank you, Zenon. I just wanted for you to know this since he should be at his master's side, not here."

Jeffrey frowned for a moment and asked; "It seems like you know this person, literally, for you to comment that way."

After he said that, the crimson-haired woman didn't reply immediately and silence reign them for a moment and when the Marquis was about to say anything, the crimson-haired woman explained in a vague manner.

"Let's just say… that person and I, had some history with each other, but that's no longer the case anymore."

After she said that, the Marquis didn't pry any further and said; "Since this is something personal then, I'll just assist you if needed."

Scarlette, for that part, felt relieved when the Marquis didn't pry her any further and since he might recognize Ryan then, Zenon might piece together about her true identity then but for now, that's not important.

Now, back at the mission on hand, the crimson-haired woman thought about the mission and the information that the Marquis provided with her.

'A flood happened a month ago and something was underneath in that place. Rumored to be a mass graveyard during the war. A village with no record within the Empire. This mission seems tricky as I thought would be.'

Scarlette thought as she looked at the Marquis and said; "We need to acquire more information at the Adventurers Guild in this city by tomorrow morning. We shouldn't disclose this information you provided since it would make things messed up in the process."

As the crimson-haired woman said those statements, the Marquis also agreed with her reason and this is the best course of action, for now.

"Since you're doing some undercover investigation about this, why not teamed up with to be less suspicious in the public?"

The Marquis almost stumbled on the ground because of what the crimson-haired woman said, and he feels like he heard something absurd.

He looked at the crimson-haired woman with wide eyes opened and then pointed himself as he carefully asked her; "D-did I hear it right? A-are you sure you're asking me to join you? A-as in…. t-that's an invitation, right?"

'Am I dreaming?! Is this for real?!'

He thought as he looked at the crimson-haired woman with wide eyes as if he is hallucinating or something.

Scarlette, on the other hand, groaned in annoyance as she saw how Jeffrey looked at her like some sort of a lunatic, he is but she took a deep breath to calm herself not to scold this man.

"It can't be helped since both of us need to cooperate in this case. Honestly speaking, this mission that I happen to take it with me, I just did it out of whim because of the rewards and its contents."

The crimson-haired woman clicked her tongue in annoyance and rolled her eyes.

When the Marquis heard what she said, he snapped from his daze and the last statement from the crimson-haired woman caught his attention the most.

He looked perplexed as he ask; "What do you mean?"

Scarlette took the leaflet from her pocket and gave it to Jeffrey. The crimson-haired woman let the Marquis to read it by himself and he would see what she means.

The Marquis took the leaflet from the crimson-haired woman's hand and then analyzed its content carefully.

After a minute, Jeffrey raised an eyebrow as he looked at the contents of the mission leaflet that Scarlette showed him.

"You've got to be kidding me, right?" – He mumbled as he looked at the crimson-haired woman and asking if the contents that he reads were true or just some sort of a prank.

Scarlette looked back at him as if telling him an "I-know-right" look and she crossed her arms around as she raised an eyebrow as well.

At that moment, Jeffrey groans in defeat as he clenches the leaflet within his hands and his expression darkened.

"A D-Rank mission with the amount of 10 million Diam coins as a reward?! It would be alright if it was gold coins but Diam?! Isn't this too much?!"

In this world, Diam is the highest currency value, second only to Gold and the lowest are Silver and Bronze. 1 Diam coin is equivalent to 100 gold coins. 1 Gold coin = 1000 Silver coins. 1 Silver coin = 10,000 Bronze coins.

So, approximately, if the reward money is 10 million Diam coins then, this is equivalent to 1 billion gold coins and this kind of money is nearly impossible for someone to have it, even for the largest empire like Silveria, the crimson-haired woman knew that the empire wouldn't have that much money within their treasury.

Even the merchant alliance or the Trading Hub country like Texina Empire wouldn't have that kind of astronomical amount of money within them.

Also, for most parts, Diam coins were usually used by the nobles, especially high-ranking ones like Marquis Middleton himself.

"What kind of setup mission is this?!"

Jeffrey exclaims because of this absurd content that he receives from the crimson-haired woman and Scarlette just nodded and sighed in frustration.

"That's why I took it with me before someone else did. I am not after the reward but the mission itself. It's odd and I have a feeling that there is someone behind this and for sure, you also had an idea who that might be."
