A Sister

Yang was a restless sleeper. Not in the sense where she would wake up easily, the opposite in fact, but she would always toss about in bed and generally had a stuffed animal with her. Tonight, though, she decided to get rid of it. Not because she didn't like the dog, but because now she had a reputation to uphold as a big sister. She was going to do it later when Ruby was born, but hey, things happen. Additionally, the person who gave it to her in the first place, Summer, was delighted to hear that she wanted to get rid of it. Regardless, Yang still wasn't mentally prepared to not have a fluffy thing to hug while she slept. Thankfully, Summer seemed to have predicted this occurrence(A/N: all according to keikaku) and put a fluffy thing next to her in the middle of the night. Grabbing on to it, she subconsciously noticed that this was, not, in fact, the same stuffed dog she had before. Not that she was complaining, though. Not only was this one softer, but it also had longer hairs that all went in the same direction. Did she mention it was soft and fluffy? Because it was. There probably isn't anything that could compare. And while it was bigger than the old plush, this one was just the right size for her to cuddle, or at least snuggle up to as she was now.

However, something bothered her about this new toy. No, bothered wasn't the right word for this. She was confused. It was moving, seemingly at normal intervals. It wasn't horrible but it made it so that she couldn't focus on sleep and would only stroke the fur. Again, not a horrible trade-off, but fluffy could wait for later, she needed to sleep a lot tonight so that she could play with her new younger brother tomorrow. Coming to the, to her, seemingly logical conclusion that if she rubbed it fast it might stop, Yang went all out.

"Mmm"

"Eh?"

Opening her eyes slightly due to her confusion, Yang saw the fluffy object she was stroking, was, in fact, a tail. A white tail that was attached to a child.

"Mmmm"

Now with her eyes fully opened, Yang finally understood what she was currently doing. She was stroking her younger brother's tail. His very, -very-, fluffy tail. Torn between being an older sister that he could be proud of, and continuing her actions, she slowed her pace so that she could think a bit better.

Now, she would have chosen the former. After all, she was the big sister to one now, and to two later. However, now that her eyes were opened, and getting a good look at her new sibling, she saw that he had not one, but two sets of ears. The first being boring old human ears. However, the second was much more appealing to her right now. On top of his head, in the middle of his hair, were two fox ears. Repositioning herself to get a better look, she realized that unlike the hair it was next to, the ears were fur, like the tail she had been fluffing. Completely forgetting her original goal of being a good sibling, she released his tail and her eyes shifted between his ears and her hands, a grin forming on her face.

'If the tail was that good, how would the ears be?'

'I have to, no, I -need- to find out.'

At this point, all of Tai's hope was unknowingly lost. Waking up in a sweat, he saw his newlywed wife next to him. However, unlike her normal small, serene smile, now she had a grin on her face that could put a cat's to shame. Furrowing his brows, he tried figuring out what could have made him so panicked. Looking to his left, he asked her.

"Is Yang safe?"

Her smile slightly diminishing, she responded with a bit of sadness in her voice.

"Yes she is, or she should be. She was having problems sleeping without that dog I got her, so I went to her room a few minutes ago and gave her a substitute so that she could sleep better, after all, she's going to want to be full of energy tomorrow."

Slightly frowning at that, the rusted cogs in Tai's brain started to turn a bit faster than they normally do. Finally understanding that he had no idea what Summer was talking about, he relented and asked her.

"What's tomorrow? "

The outlines of a scowl briefly visible on her face, she responded, with no lack of mirth in her voice.

"Her new brother. Our new son."

A clear scowl visible on Tai's now. He still didn't like this. He didn't hate Qrow, nor did he hate that Qrow now had a kid, but the timing was bad for him to have to take care of it. After Raven's disappearance, all he had were those three, Summer, Qrow, and little Yang. Although the wounds had started to heal, he still didn't like having a kid forced onto him. This borderline hatred of his situation did two things. One, a large part of the dislike of the position he was in was translated to the kid. The kid in which, by the way, the had no input in. Alexandr Branwen. It's not a bad name by any means, but the fact that he would now have to care for a kid that had no direct familial relation to, or have any input in his name, irked him. Two, which was One part two, his normal paranoia from being a Huntsman was exacerbated. A little voice in his brain kept telling him.

'Do you think that a kid would have clothes that neat in the middle of a Grimm-filled forest on the day where it just so happens were a close friend of one of, if not the only current silver-eyed Huntress.'

'What if he's a spy from Salem? They probably train them young.'

Deciding to ignore the voices in his head telling him it was a trap, he looked back at his wife.

"Where is he? Is he still sleeping in the kitchen."

"No, he's in bed, I had to be very careful not to wake him up, so I was silent, probably why you find;t hear me leave."

Nodding in confirmation, Tai realized that something was still bothering him. Something felt wrong with her words, but for the life of him, he couldn't figure out what. Realizing that no amount of though right now would relieve him of that nagging sensation in the back of his brain, he threw in the towel and decided to sleep.

In the morning, when Taiyang awoke with the sight of Summer getting dressed, he mentally congratulated himself for being married to her. Granted, he was by no means ugly, but he wasn't mind-blowingly attractive. He was a solid 8, 7 on a bad day. But getting two beauties, both Summer and Raven-

Raven.

He didn't know how to feel about her.

In his defense, how would anyone?

He still loved her, albeit not as much as before, but he couldn't hate her, especially when Yang was about.

YANG!

Getting dressed as quickly as he could. In rush, he heard Summer ask why he was so energetic this morning.

While putting on a shirt, he managed to respond while looking her dead in the eyes.

"He is Qrow's son. Even though not biologically, he still is. If Alex is even half of the playboy that Qrow is, I can't let him get to close to Yang."

Finishing getting dressed, he heard a slight chuckle come out her. And although faintly, he heard some words

"I need to be more careful with Alex and Yang, he doesn't need to know I'm the instigator."

However, all he heard was

"..careful...Alex and Yang... instigator."

"What was that? Something about those two, being careful, and an instigator?"

"What!? Oh.... just uh..." Tilting her head as if in mock confusion, she quickly thought of something that made sense and was something she could've said, using those words." I said, I don't think you need to be that careful with a relationship between Alex and Yang, if they truly are like their parents, no amount of someone being an instigator could make them an item."

Understanding the truth to her words, Tai sighed. Maybe he was a little high-strung to the kid. Most likely his parents were trying to escape and were in a bad place at a bad time. It isn't that unusual.

Getting set up downstairs for breakfast, he realized that his daughter, who was usually the first up, was still sleeping. Tossing a look at his wife, then to the hot coffee in his hand, he relented.

"I'm going to go wake up Yang, she probably stayed up all night with excitement knowing her"

Summer wasn't expecting him to do that. It was so unexpected, that she ended up cracking the egg when it wasn't over the bowl, leaving yolk and white all over herself and the floor.

Mentally sending her new son a prayer, she changed her plan for breakfast. Originally, she was going to do something light for the kids, like pancakes; but knowing the mood Tai'd be in, she went with his favorite in hopes of it dulling his wrath. Speaking of, he should be up the stairs by know.

Gritting her teeth, she continued what she was doing. Suddenly she heard a deafening WHAT! before the sound of a large body passing out and falling on the floor. Understanding that this was, actually not the worst reaction, she finished cooking.

------

"WHAT!"

Waking up to the sound of a loud voice booming, Yang quickly awoke. However, by the time she had turned around to see her door and had to, unfortunately, let go of her new sibling, she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary outside of the opened door. Craning her neck, though, she was caused her to have to let go of her new favorite thing. Her father, lying on the ground with what looked like a small train of blood coming out the corner of his mouth. Looking around for could've caused such a reaction in her father, her eyes eventually landed her brother, who was, unbeknownst to him, shirtless due to Yang's interference, and had been cuddling next to her, asleep. Putting the shirt back on him, she hoisted him up on her shoulders and stepped over her father's body.

Finally getting downstairs, her brother, Alexandr, apparently mom won the name war, was finally waking up. With Summer taking him off of her shoulders and into her arms, Yang was finally able to start eating. Between mouthfuls of food, she asked.

"Why bacon and eggs? Did dad do something special?"

Mildly sighing, Summer responded

"Well, it is for your father, but it's so that he won't be in as bad of a mood now that he saw you two in bed together."

Looking up at Summer, then forward at Yang, Alex's eyes gleefully shined. Wagging his tail, or at least as much as he could while in Summer's arms he stretched his small arms out to Yang. As if she understood what was happening, Yang rushed out of her seat and touched his hand with hers.

Cooing at the sight, Summer spoke to Alex.

"Hello there, My name is Summer, I'm your mother. This is Yang, your sister."

Blinking a few times, then nodding, Alex opened his mouth while pointing to his mom

"Mtha ish Smma?"

In a full smile, unlike her usual cheeky ones, Summer nodded. Pointing at Yang with her free hand, she asked, "Can you tell me who that is?"

Blinking a few times again proceeded by nodding, this time a tad more excitedly.

"Mm, sishta"

"Good, what is her name!"

Giving out a toothy grin, he said

"Yang!"

Jumping up and down excitedly, Yang got Summer to bend down so she could reach him better, although not before he got his head pat by his new mom. While Tai had finally recovered and made his way down the stairs, he came across, what was to him, an appalling sight.

Taking Alex from Summer's arms, Yang kissed the fox Faunus right on his cheek, proudly declaring, with a hint of a blush.

"I love you, little bro!"

As Alex tried to form the words to speak that back to Yang, Tai rested against the wall. Completely and utterly defeated. Looking on at the sight that would, down the line, make him start crying, he saw that Alex was getting used to that phrase.

"I Luv you, sista!"

After looking up in aspiration and getting another head pat, he turned back to Yang right as she was about to kiss him on the cheek again.

The two pairs of lips met.

The innocent children didn't understand the meaning behind their actions, although a healthy blush could be seen on Yang's childish face.

This time Tai didn't pass out, but everything else was worse. He coughed up way more blood than last time, and, as he started sliding down the wall, tears marred his face as he saw an illusion of Yang as a child starting to mature and being taken away by Alex, now looking a lot like Qrow. He is not letting that playboy off. Either of them.

A cackle about to grace her lips, Summer pumped her fist in the air, mentally thinking 'Step one down.' Deciding to not let the flame die out, she spoke to them.

"Now do it again!"

Yang acquiesced without complaint and seemed happy to do so.

Alex didn't mind it at all.

Tai, watching Yang's furiously blushing face, passed out after thinking

'Thief! Playboy! Scoundrel!'

Summer was ecstatic that her plan was working. Hugging the adorable pair, she reaffirmed how proud of them she was, although not without stroking Alex's tails and ears.

Is Yang surprisingly intelligent/wordy and strong for a 1 and1/2-year-old?

Yes.

Do I care?

No, it advances the story so I'm writing it off as aura doing that to kids.

I've decided on Alexandr for the name, Alex for short.

Yes I'm making Tai a subpar father, but eh, it's for the plot anyways.

Might do a timeskip to Ruby being born/talking because as much as I love writing familial interactions, there ain't much I can do with kids for now.
