Romance of Princess and Demon

When I opened my eyes, I smiled that I was in my room, I really had a terrible nightmare. I was running away from something but I did not dare to look at what was chasing me, all I knew was that it was something evil.

I kept running and running away from it but it was so fast, I kept repeating in my head that if I want to see my family again I must run.

My legs were aching terribly so I stopped by a tree and sat at it's foot when I heard that the thing chasing me wasn't coming again, maybe it changed its mind, well I don't care.

I took a look at my feet, the sole of my feet was bleeding. How would it not bleed when I ran away from the carriage right into the thick forest. I sat down as I tried to steady my breath because I was breathing loudly, I placed my hands on my chest and my heart was beating too fast, I never ran this fast in my entire life.

When I stood up to run again, I felt an arm around my waist and he pulled me from behind while the other hand caressed my cheeks.

"Found you" he said with a husky tone as he nibbled under my ear playfully.

"Did you think you can run away from me?" he asked as used his fingers to trace my lips, when I felt them at the entrance of my mouth I bit his fingers very hard until it bled but he did not flinch.

"Did you think that will hurt me?" he asked me and I heard a loud, menacing and sinister laugh from him, I wasn't given the chance to talk as I was thrown on the floor aggressively.

'Right, that was just the right way to treat a princess like me' I thought. The demon mumbled some words while the ground I was thrown at opened and the next thing I knew was that I was falling.

I hit the ground with my stomach with a loud bang, unable to bear the pain I closed my eyes then....

"Your highness, your highness, please wake up" Kate my maid begged.

"Your highness, please wake up" she said louder and kept shaking me vigorously.

When I opened my eyes and I saw that I was in my room, I smiled. Kate looked at me confused. "Is her highness going crazy" she asked nobody in particular and The other maids bowed their head.

"Kate you were saying something?" I asked her and she shook her head. "Well, I am not crazy" I answered her question, "I am sorry your highness" she said.

She was my favorite maid and also my best friend and I felt happy whenever I am with her, she made my boring life interesting. I could do nothing to hurt her. "Never mind" I told her.

"I want to take my bath now" I said.

"yes your highness, the bath is ready" Kate said as she helped me get out of my clothes. I slipped into the bath, the water was cool just like the way I wanted it to be. Kate massaged my shoulders while the others helped me bath.

When I was done bathing, the maids brushed my brown hair and tied it into a bun. I wore an off shoulder black gown and black heels. I applied a nude paint on my lips that matched the colour of my dress, I was satisfied after glancing at myself in the mirror.

"Your highness, breakfast is ready" Kate said. I left my room to the dining room where I met my mom and dad.

The king sat at the end of the table while the queen sat at his right side, I went to seat next to my mother after I greeted the two of them morning.

"Rose, how do you wish to celebrate your birthday?" mother asked.

'my birthday?' oh yes today was my birthday, I totally forgot about it since I had way too many things I was thinking about.

When I was still a kid, I always reminded my parents that it was my birthday. Now when I grew up I forgot so many things about myself as I was busy taking care of others. 'That is what a princess should do' my father always told me.

"I don't know, anything is fine with me" I answered simply. I saw mother glance at father while father just raised his brows questioningly.

"What your mother is trying to say is that, should it be a grand party or just between the three of us?" he asked me.

"Let's just celebrate between the three of us" I answered back, I didn't like grand parties where I would meet too many people, celebrating with my family is much better.

"Call the maids" the king said to the guard that was standing. The guard quickly left to call the maids. The maids appeared before us.

"prepare a feast" the king announced and they all left. Sooner than later, the table was filled with food and drinks. The queen poured wine for the king while she poured some for me.

"A toast to my lovely daughter rose, I hope you have a happy and blissful life throughout this lifetime" The king said and we drank the wine. My mother also made a toast to me while they both prayed for me. I was so happy that I had this kind of life, everything seems so good to be true...

When I finished my food, I felt so stuffed, I actually ate a lot and I couldn't do without food. I went back to my room to sleep, after waking up the rest of the day just went by with me practicing how to fight, how to ride and so many other things princesses were not allowed to learn.
