20: Everyday Life of Hades (V)

AN: I really hate highschool!!!!

---

Two beings faced each other. One was the god of death, his red eyes glowed with a menacing light. He stood with an air of elegance. Facing him was a beast. His silver hair fluttered in the wind. He simply looked at the god in front of him and with his apathetic face, he looked like a predator. It was as if he was above the simple meaning of existing.

In a small amount of time, Thanatos flashed toward the silver-haired god. He went with a right hook, which was easily dodged by Hades.

Thanatos then tried kicking Hades in the ribs. But this was also dodged by the god of the dead who then stretched his palm and as he closed it a spear was in his hand.

He then tried to stab Thanatos. The god of death dodged it by flying a few meters away.

The butler then summoned his weapon. A rapier that shone with a silver reflection. A few cracks were engraved in it, but this did not mean that it would easily break.

Seeing that Thanatos had conjured his weapon, Hades went in a throwing position and in a blink of an eye it was already in the air flying as if it was a javelin.

Thanatos dodged it by a millimeter with his agility with his wings. He then flapped his wings and approached the still calm Hades.

Around Hades, a multitude of different weapons flew. They went on and on against the god of death. As one would break, two would be created.

Death and the dead clashed. Thanatos was extremely concentrated, he did not want to make his Lord unhappy.

At one point of time in the fight, Hades started using more of his divinities. Waves of ice came in Thanatos' way. Many metals would forge themselves in chains and try to block Thanatos. The shadows shaped themselves in what seemed to be hands like an abomination. Skeletons would be summoned in what seemed to be a graveyard, and bones grew like a thick and dense forest.

Thanatos could not do anything more. He was trying to defend himself against the many things that flew toward him.

He slashed through chains. He amputated hands made of shadows. The god of death pierced through the skull of skeletons but no matter what he did, it did not matter.

Hades jumped back and threw his spear like a javelin. But then in the air the spear multiplied and became a countless number of it. Then as it got even closer to Thanatos a blue fire engulfed them.

Thanatos extended his wings and flew a bit above the ground. Then a black aura escaped from his body and shaped itself in the form of a shield. As it approached the shield, the blue fire was extinguished.

Hades squinted his eyes. Thanatos' aura which is filled with his divinity so death, killed the fire. It was a strange thing, but again Divinity is not constrained by the rules of nature and works with concepts.

*Boom* the spears and the shield fought each other and canceled each other in a wave of power.

However, behind that wave, another swarm of weapons stood proudly and *swoosh* it flew toward Thanatos.

The god of peaceful death used all of his power and manifested another shield. It was so strong it seems to cut even reality in two. His concept of death even attacked against the immaterial and the rules became broken.

In a kaleidoscope of color, the weapons fell toward Thanatos, it reassembled a firework. Thanatos admired the view before his shield and the weapons once again clashed.

*Boom boom boom* layers of the shield were ripped apart one by one, and the world itself seemed to crack each time a weapon hit.

After a blink of an eye, the attacks were over, and Thanatos fell to his knees. No attack had reached him but he had gone above his power and now he was left strengthless.

But even though he had broken his limits, he still could not stand up. His legs failed as he tried to raise it. At that moment Hades' voice rang.

"Good job lasting this long. You can be proud of yourself". He then did a karate chop to his neck and knocked Thanatos out cold.

Hades snapped his fingers and, in his hand, appeared a sheet of paper. On the paper in golden ink was a few words written.

It was written: I am going to Asgard, don't try to come with me. You have free vacations.

-Hades.

The god of the living did not want for Thanatos to come with him, and he knew that if the butler was still conscious he would beg him to come and after some time Hades would be obligated to say yes.

He then placed the sheet on Thanatos and again snapped his finger which made Thanatos' body disappear.

Hades then extended his hand and gripped his palm and then in a flickering light, a spear appeared in his hand. It was a black spear, with some markings engraved in it. A wave-like symbol was also engraved with a red color.

This was Telos. A spear bathed in the blood of the strongest Titan. A spear made of what can be considered one of the strongest metals in existence.

But this was not all, since his fight with Atlas, the spear had become stronger. Hades had focused the faith he gets from humans in his spear. While he did not want to become over-reliant on faith like the Greek gods in the future, he still did not want to lose all that power.

So, after a few experiments, he was able to make this spear, his symbol of power, and make it so that it gets most of the power the mortals think it has.

Like if Hades spread the rumor that his spear was specially made to kill dragons then it would get an anti-draconic power. Though this had a limitation.

Even if humans thought that this weapon was the multiverse itself, it would not do anything. The same thing if they thought Zeus had the power of creation, it would not work.

Faith is a double-edged sword that has some limitations. Faith in itself is a power everyone has, even mortals. If many other mortals thought of another human as a god then he would become a god.

But not a primordial, nor an outer god. So yeah, also another problem of faith is that you become over-reliant on it, which makes it impossible to achieve true power.

Because beings on the same level as Hades, can just completely annihilate humanity and destroy planets. And then one who relies on faith loses his power.

Though there was one consequence of inducing faith in his spear. Hades did not know of this was a good or a bad thing. His spear started to gain a mind, a soul. It has already started with emotions and if Hades was right then in a few years of maybe even sooner it would start to gain a true consciousness which would then result in a soul.

Anyway, Hades then spread his divinity of the Underworld and his voice echoed throughout the END. "I am going to visit another Pantheon, If you have any problem ask Hestia or Thanatos."

And then he vanished from the surface of the Underworld.
