Chapter 1Chapter 1 Dark Elf

In a mysterious dark forest, the trees started to shake.

'RUMBLE'

From the middle of the dark forest, the ground started collapse inwards. The animals and beasts started wailing before falling into a deep dark pit. The earthquake stopped after 10 minutes leaving the forest in ruins.

The pit led downwards many miles before arriving at an ancient city. Many buildings in the ancient city had strange carvings on them. In the dark, the carvings lit up a bright purple. At the center of the ancient city is a black coffin. The coffin was sealed by many thick chains. The chains slowly started to wilt, like a flower. The wilted chains turned into dust, leaving the coffin no longer bounded.

The front of the coffin gradually opened at a slow pace. With the opening of the coffin, dust flew in all directions. The body in the coffin gradually opened its ruby red eyes. He twitched his dark grey fingers, causing loud cracks sounds to echo in the city. They boy stepped out of the coffin wearing a black cloak and a pair of old withered shoes. He again stretched his 12 year old body creating a large amount of crack sounds.

"Where am I?"

The boy said with a hint of surprise. After looking at his surroundings, he could easily figure out his situation.

The once prince of the Dark Elves became the last of his species. After the 2nd Holy War, the entire Dark Elf race perished.

He looked around the ancient city of the Dark Elves while reliving memories through his eyes. A tear stripped from his eyes and sunk down his dark grey cheek. He shook his head causing his silver hair to fling around. The look of determination flashed through his eyes.

He looked up through the large hole and bent his knees.

'Boom'

The boy jumped through the air at a shocking speed. The ground cracked in a spiderweb like pattern, where he stood before.

He arrived at the surface to find collapsed trees and dead beasts everywhere.

---------------

In a city not far from the forest, a tall muscular built man is seen talking to a

Youth in armor.

"Captain! We just got news that the Forest Of Darkness has been destroyed."

The youth said with urgency

"Give me the details."

"Yes Captain! Not long ago we just got information that The Forest Of Darkness experienced an earthquake, large enough to collapse many trees and kill many strong beasts."

"What!! Immediately prepare the scouts. Tell them to discover the cause of the earthquake."

The captain said with haste.

"Yes Captain!"

The youth said with haste before turning to leave.

----------------------

"My Awakening must've caught the attention of any nearby settlement. I must leave here fast."

The boy quickly ran towards a direction. Within 15 minutes of running, he found a carriage heading towards a certain direction. The carriage was white and had an insignia of a horse. Many guards surrounded the carriage as they were heading towards a certain direction.

The boy quickly ran up to the carriage, blocking its path.

"You dare block the path of Count Mathew?"

A guard aggressively questioned.

The boy remained calm and silent.

"Who do you think you are! Move out of the way before I end your life!"

Another guard loudly exclaimed with the intent to scare of the young boy.

The boy still hasn't moved without showing signs of distress.

"Kyle! Calm down. He's just a little boy, he isn't a threat. No need to go to such lengths."

A youthful voice sounded from the carriage.

"What shall I call you, boy?"

"I am called Darius Blackmatter."

Darius responded curtiously.

"Nice to meet you Darius. I am called Mathew, you can call me Mat."

He said respectfully.

"Darius, where are you headed? I am on my way to Lionfield city. If you are also headed there, you can travel with us."

"If that's the case... I'll have to thank mister Mathew."

Darius also responded respectfully expressing his thanks.

Darius then walked up towards the carriage with the intent on entering.

A hand blocked his way.

"You don't have the authority to ride in Count Matthew's carriage."

Kyle once again called me out.

"Kyle enough! Let him in the carriage."

With Matthew's approval, Kyle sighed and then opened the carriage door.

GlaringError here! As I have already mentioned in my author review I am restating it here since I am getting tons of comments about it, that I am more of a reader myself than a writer, I made this novel in an attempt to capture my fantasy world residing in my mind into words.. Writing is new for me.. The premise of my novel is inspired by many great works that I have loved over the years. And some elements I have in my novel that are slightly similar to them but it's just the skeleton of it, the real meat of the plot is entirely my own cooking. Some of the influence that is more noticeable is from The Runesmith (By Kuropon), The King's Avatar (By Butterfly Blue) and Shadow Slave (By Guiltythree). I have immense respect for these legends and I can only hope to follow in their footsteps. To all those who comment just by judging the name, at least give it a chance before letting your opinions be known. Thank you.
