Lin Chao’s Wrath

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

After Lin Chao escorted Chu Shanhe and the group to safety, he immediately returned home. It was getting late and his eyes had yet to evolve to have night vision so it was better for him to stay in at night. After all, there were various mutated creatures aside from zombies in this vacant city.

Shrinking his pores to seal his sweat glands, Lin Chao minimized his human scent from spreading. He then concealed himself by playing with light and avoided a few packs of zombies on his way home, successfully returning to the residential estate before the sky completely darkened.

"Hmm?"

Lin Chao's gaze fell on the additional zombie carcasses at the entrance. They were shot in the head, collapsing by the entrance's rail.

"Someone's been here."

Lin Chao frowned slightly. These people had guns; they were either the army or thugs who had robbed the police.

Without too long a stop, Lin Chao went back to his building. Taking the elevator to the eighteenth floor, he knocked on the door only for it to gently open – it was not closed!

A sinking feeling engulfed Lin Chao as premonition washed over him. He bolted into the unit to see the clean living room now in disorder. Seven to eight bloody footsteps were left on the wooden floor and most strikingly, the rice, vegetables, and food that he piled behind the couch were gone with the piece of furniture upturned.

An icy flash gleamed in Lin Chao's eyes. He went to the kitchen then to his sister, Lin Shiyu's room without uttering a single word. The food that was stored had all been taken away while the experimental theatre in Lin Shiyu's room was smashed into pieces. The microscope fell to the floor, and her test tubes were all shattered. It was not hard to imagine the violence that had taken place here!

Lin Chao's heart sank but flames of fury burned from the bottom of his heart.

Food was ransacked but he could break into other supermarkets for more. The main point was that Lin Shiyu was now missing!

This girl was the only person he wanted to protect and these people took her away!

Nineteen years in the apocalyptic age told Lin Chao clearly how an adorable little girl would end up in devastation when dealing with a group of mobsters!

"Little girl…" Lin Chao clenched his fist. The murderous intent in his eyes was so intense it was palpable. He darted out of the unit and took the elevator back to the ground floor.

The sun had already set and night had fallen. The wrecked city was gravely silent save for the low growls of the zombies.

Lin Chao came to the zombies that were shot in the head by the entrance and squatted down to examine them. He quickly saw footsteps that were marked on the ground. The size and number were similar to the ones he had seen in his living room.

Holding his steel bar, Lin Chao went toward the direction these footsteps were headed to.

Everyone from the group had to carry at least two sacks of rice when there were more than ten bags of them to move that amount of food. In addition to their lack of survival experience, they did not even make sure they left no tracks behind. Lin Chao found their path without so much as a challenge.

.

Hotel Shangri-La.

The steps to the opulent entrance had a few puddles of browned bloodstain while a zombie's carcass lay not too far away. It died from getting its head shot as well.

Two muscular middle-aged men stood guard at the doors. They wore luxury branded clothes and held firearms as they casually patrolled the surroundings. Once there was a zombie, they would immediately shoot it down.

"Say, our outfit used to only be worn by millionaires eh?"

"Heh! What millionaires? I heard from Four-eyed Chicken that our outfit cost seventy to eighty thousand. They had to have tens of millions to be able to afford these. For real though, it feels so different from the ones we got at twenty each during discount sales. It feels so much smoother on the skin!"

"If it weren't for this disaster, forget wearing them, we won't even be able to touch them! Plus, we've got guns. These are fun!"

"That's right. It's a pity that my daughter died early. Otherwise, I'd be able to protect her now."

"It's in the past. Don't bring it up anymore. We must continue living. The leader is young but he's quite nice. We'll live well under him. The ample food Old Zhang brought back today is enough to feed us for an entire week."

"Hmm, Old Zhang's accomplished something but the two of us can only guard here. Perhaps we could find some good stuff as well if we go out searching."

"The outside is too dangerous. It's safer to stand guard. We can look to the leader for help if a monster appears."

The two men chatted, not realizing that the light around them flickered slightly before a young man in black casual attire appeared behind them like a ghost.

Thud!

The steel bar was raised before it struck the muscular man speaking on the left. He was chatting away with a smile when his body shook and his head exploded. Warm scarlet and white spurted before splattering on the face of the man on the right.

The person was completely befuddled.

When he could react two to three seconds later, a strong frosty palm stretched from his back to clasp his throat and give a light twist.

With a crack, his spine was broken as his head limped to one side.

Lin Chao patted down their bodies and pocketed the bullet cartridges before kicking the headless corpse down the staircase while he laid another corpse against the door.

Then, he entered the spacious lobby.

A thin old man was seated behind the service counter and was currently dozing off. After Lin Chao hid, he avoided the surveillance cameras in the hotel and marched toward the security room behind the lobby.

The security room's door was shut tight but Lin Chao could hear everything behind it. There were two people breathing inside; one of them was sleeping and lightly snoring while the other was yawning.

Lin Chao's eyes glinted as he pulled out a wire he kept with him at all times. Swiftly opening the lock, he made no sound at all even when he opened the door.

A middle-aged man was sleeping on the platform before the monitors while a young man wearing glasses was watching the screens tiredly with his chin rested on his palm.

There was nothing to do and it was easy to doze off just sitting like that. It was quite difficult for him to hold out like that.

Lin Chao came to his back like a ghoul. His palm stuck out and clutched the young man's throat.

The bespectacled young man was alarmed and instinctively opened his mouth to shout but the hand on his neck was too strong and resolute as it broke his throat the moment Lin Chao's fingers touched the bare skin on his throat. He could barely make gurgling sounds as his eyes went wide before he weakly collapsed on the monitoring console.

The middle-aged man beside was still sound asleep, to which Lin Chao smashed his head open straight away with his steel bar.

Finishing off the two men, Lin Chao closed the door and immediately took over the security system, reeling out today's surveillance records.

Replaying it swiftly, his gaze locked on three o'clock in the afternoon.

A group of people was seen on the screen entering the lobby carrying a large amount of food, rice, drinking water, sweets, vegetable, meat and so on. There was a little girl in a dress over the shoulder of a brawny man as well. The girl did not move and seemed as if she had fainted. From the surveillance camera, the crimson mark of a palm could be clearly seen on her face.

The killing intent in Lin Chao's eyes multiplied.
