A Night Of Feelings

Rem: Zero Volume 4, Chapter: 50! Tion_Official.

Previously… Rem tried to reenact the last checkpoint so she can ask Emilia to once again go out with Subaru, but that doesn't go quite well since Rem screwed mostly everything up. She then had a small conversation with Roswaal about how Rem is doing with his other two workers, which goes pretty well. Rem was then seen naked by none other than Ram, and they talked to each other for a few seconds before Ram was off, but did give Rem a notice that she's going to come to her room later at night.

Rem was alone in her room. Listening to music on her phone as she's typing on her personal diary.

Rem is typing down her deaths on each checkpoint. First checkpoint she died by exhaustion. Second she died by Elsa and third she was killed again by Elsa and fourth… She's not sure who killed her, since she doesn't remember much and finally the fifth was those thieves.

[Rem] That's a total of five deaths. Or maybe I'm forgetting something, and I couldn't remember …well for now, I can only assume that I died five times in the first checkpoint, and then by the second checkpoint I died once I woke up, and almost got killed by Beatrice, but thank god she didn't kill me. I really appreciate her for sparing me…

Rem hears the door open as she looks to see who it is.

It's Ram.

She hides her phone and earphones as she sits up and looks at the red haired maid.

[Rem] Good Evening, Ram. I didn't expect you to actually come here.

[Ram] As I said earlier, I was going to your room, did I not?

Rem scratches the back off her head as she watches Ram put some things down on her table.

Rem being alone with Ram, kind of makes her think about dirty stuff about her, but she tries to shake the thoughts out of her head.

She's wearing a maid outfit, that's why she can't stop thinking about her, if Rem has her maid outfit on, she would love herself instead.

Rem also wonders… how did she have a thing for maids.

She doesn't have a memory for having a maid fetish.

Maybe it's just an attribute of Rem, or she just forgot why she has such a dirty mind.

Ram then turns around and picks up a notepad.

[Ram] Come and sit here, Rem. Ram will teach you how to write and read the language here. It's quite obvious that you don't know how to read the signs here, so as a worker, it's necessary to teach you so we can ask you to buy some things without having the assistance of someone.

[Rem] O-Oh, I see. I understand…

She gets up and sits on the chair Ram wants her to sit on as they talk about a few things first about what they're going to do.

[Ram] We'll start off by a children's storybook. Starting from today, you'll be studying every night with me. Will that be okay?

Rem nods.

[Rem] Rem- I! Understand. Oh and also. You're suddenly being super nice to me.

Earlier you were throwing insults like it's an insulting party.

[Ram] I'm being nice to you because… No, wait. I wanted to not take the burden of the other house works in the manor of course, and that's why I'm helping you.

[Rem] You didn't change did you…

[Ram] It's quite simple really. If you were to take the load of work, I wouldn't have to do much and the same as Barusu.

[Rem] subaru?

[Ram] As Ram said, Barusu. He won't be taking much work any longer if you were to take his place, since you prefer to work hard here after all, it's written on your face, Rem.

[Rem] j-Jeez, you really didn't change.

Rem was paying attention to Ram explaining some things that's necessary, but they'll start off with simple l-glyphs.

[Ram] After you master that, we'll continue on to r-glyphs and h-glyphs.

If you pay attention and study hard, you'll eventually get it. We also need to sleep early, as we still got work tomorrow. Don't forget about that.

[Rem] Hearing those reminds me of my old school, sigh. Good days, but also stressful ones.

[Ram] There's no time to talk about nonsense, Rem. I'm getting sleepy so I must teach you while I'm still awake.

[Rem] Hey, I'm sleepy as well. I might as well just note this in my diary, but since you're really dedicated in teaching me, then let's start.

Ram then nods.

[Let's start then.]

It's very late as night.

Rem is still awake, listening to music with her earphones connected to her phone while she's trying to memorize everything.

It's very complex that Rem can't even read any words anymore. Her brain is in a pause and it won't work properly.

[Rem] Hey. Ram? I gotta tell you something… Lately, i've been looking at Subaru, and he's been staring at me for awhile. Do you know why? N-nevermind. That's a stupid thing to all about, anyways. I'm happy that you're teaching me. I'm really not sure why you want someone as me to take the big load of work, but I could understand if both of you are working here for so long, it can be stressful. I can agree with you in that. I just wish Rem can be smarter- I mean, I just wish I can be smarter, and do things perfectly. I hope you have faith in me, Ram. I really want someone to-

!

Hearing someone snoring, Rem looks behind her and sees Ram already has fallen asleep on the bed of Rem.

Rem just sighs and looks at her.

[Jeez, at least tell me if you're going to take a nap now. It's very strange for me to talk to nobody you know? Aaand I'm doing it again.

She turns to the table continuing to study.

[Darn it, Rem…]

She groaned as he covers the paper for now and closes her eyes, breathing in and out before looking at the ceiling.

[Rem] Rem really has gone this far. I'm surprised that she managed to survive after all of the pain and scary experience.

My checkpoint may be the best ability that there ever is, but it's also the worst. I can't believe it doesn't reset your mind as well from the stress and stuff. That's one thing I have about it.

I really hate it… and also appreciate it.

If it wasn't for the power that was given to me. I would probably be a dirty girl right now, or maybe even die if I still have the horn.

Anyways, I'm still safe, memories may invade my mind, but they're not going to change me.

Rem opens her eyes as he looks at her phone, and opens it and she looks at her photos and she went all the way back.

[Rem] Ah I remember this one. This is where Rem's mother brought me this phone on my 7th birthday. It's been years… I'm still using the phone and I was giving it away because of Emilia losing her Insignia?

Rem really needs to think before she does some things… I almost lost something precious to me.

Mother was the only one dear to me, though I can't quite get why I don't have a father. She never told me I have a dad or something. She said she was the only one there to take care of her.

Rem scrolls through her photos seeing lots of things. …

A video. She doesn't remember taking this.

She clicked on it as the music stopped in her phone as the video plays.

It seems to be Rem, holding a bouquet of flowers, and somebody has her phone, recording Rem.

…

This voice… She was Rem's best friend…

…

Now that she remembers what this is, she doesn't wanna watch this anymore.

The doctors, the panic and the emergency. It's all coming together…

This is where Rem's only trusted person has passed away.

She was planning to give the flowers to her mother as a gift, but it turned south already.

She can't really look away, but keep on watching to see this. She doesn't want to at all, but she hasn't seen her for a long time… If only Rem was back to see her and say goodbye to her at least, and not in her phone.

Tears are running down from her face as she wipes them and she just paused the video as she just tries to not cry, in respect of not waking Ram up.

Eventually, the emotions got to her as she just took her jacket and just covered her teary eyes, as she tries not to wake up Ram while she's crying.

She should have not checked her phones gallery… this is the worst…

Rem feels someone touch her shoulders as she looks to who it is- it's Ram. And she seems…

[Ram] You have tears all over your face, the only reasonable excuse for that is that you're crying.

Rem just wipes the tears off her face as she puts her phone down and looks at Ram.

[Rem] N-no. It's nothing. I-I'm sorry for waking you up. I didn't know I was being loud…

Ram didn't wake up because she heard Rem crying. She suddenly felt something, and it's sadness, struggle, and most importantly regret about something. Ram wasn't feeling any of that lately, but from the looks of it. Rem looks to be the one to have those feelings right now.

Ram is confused on how she can feel these feelings that Rem is feeling, but Rem just wipes her tears off as she looks at Ram.

[Rem] Are you perhaps going to help me study further O-or are you going back to sleep?

…

Ram shakes her head.

[Ram] I think it's best if you rest for now. We have work tomorrow and you don't wanna be late.

Rem just nods.

[Rem] You're right… I should be resting.

Rem gets up and walks to her bed as she just falls there's, doing nothing or not even aligning correctly.

Ram wants to say something to her, but she's keeping Subaru's words, so she decides to just leave the room, looking at her once more before closing the door.
