Chapter 256: Teleporting monster

| Just a fun fact, at first I wanted to make Kenny and Kelly twins. That's why both their names start with a K. |

"Damn it, of course there will be patrols" Kelly cursed "Just when we're so close too"

There were a bunch of soldier out patrolling around the exit of our route with rifles out. We're so close to reaching the safe zone

And how do we know that they're our enemies and not fellow soldiers? Well simple, they're not using activating their watch that gives us their location, we turned off ours a long while ago in case this happened and it did.

"Be on the lookout!" One shouted "We saw that one signal coming through this route! They're close!"

"Well they're not letting us get to the safe zone easily" I said as I got out my rifle and attached a better scope and so did Kelly.

"Let's get revenge...for Benny's sake" Kenny grinned as he got out his sniper rifle

3rd person view

"Maybe they died by the gorgers already" one suggested

"That was one of the squad 11 members" another one argued "We got a report that one of them died, but we can't say the same for the others. Besides, that was a captain signal, Kennett Leven, he's a shooter, he could be trying to snipe us from far away"

"Fine, bu-"

The guy never got to finish his sentence as a bullet went through his head, a few others as well.

"He's here!" one shouted and dodged a bullet which changed direction mid air and pierced through his skull.

"Shit, this isn't one person" one guessed and got his flare out to shoot for back up

"There! 2 o'clock! On the-" One tried to tell the location but got shot down as well

Karen and a few of the worshippers saw the flare and gone there to help. The remaining special in the area saw this as well.

"Humans...if today isn't my lucky day, then I don't know what is" it mumbled as he ate a gorger

1st person view

"Shit!" Kelly exclaimed "That's a lot of famous soldiers, and they're with Karen"

Karen's arm looked like it got properly healed, she isn't in perfect condition from our last fight, but still strong enough to give us trouble.

"Yeah, damn it, I'm almost out of magazines. And with the large amount of people, I don't have enough bombs"

"Shit, would you look at that...another special" Kenny observed "We're vastly outnumbered"

"Yeah, we can try to run for it, but we'll be shot down before before we arrive at the safe zone. These worshippers are good, they're blocking our closest route"

"I have an idea" Kenny suggested "Leave me behind, I'll draw their attention, I'll turn on my signal and let them focus on me while you 2 run"

"Stupid idea" Kelly retorted "Even if that were to work, you're alone, they'll kill you and quickly turn to us who are making a run for it"

"Then let me do it, I'm stronger, Karen and that special will definitely come for me, I'll stall them long enough"

"Are you 2 fucking out of your mind?!" Kelly hissed and tried not to shout

"They know from Kenny's signal that he's coming this route, so I'll wear it along side with mine and turn it both on, they'll won't send weak ones after me. Karen and that special will come, and you guys can make a run for it while fight a few of the weak traitors along the way, when you arrive at the safe zone, you can then go home, because I definitely won't be able to make out of it alive if I do this"

"Grace, I understand that you're stronger than us, but just think about it for a second, I already lost 1 person I cared about..." Kelly cried "Why can't you just come up with a plan that involves us all alive?"

"Look I'm sorry, but we are outnumbered and we do not have enough supplies to go to another safe zone far away, we'll starve or die of thirst or probably by the gorgers along the way, so it's either we all die or you leave me behind...and I'm willing to do that for you both"

"Kenny, say something...please" she pleaded

"...It's the best option we have, it's either we all die or us 2 leave here alive..." Kenny replied choking up on a few tears "Damn it...we shouldn't have accepted this mission, I knew the rewards are too good to be true"

"We're soldiers, right? Sometimes we have to make sacrifices, we've seen people die on missions all the time, my death will be the same. A protagonist doesn't always have a happy ending, but I'll can at least ensure that you both will"

"Fine, just know that you have to survive..." Kelly then gave me a fierce hug "We will come back for you, so stall them and hide...promise me that we'll see each other again"

"...I promise"

Our plan was to leave Kelly's watch at the building I was at and set a timer for her signal to be on as I got far away and turn mine and Kenny's when I am. With this, they'll think that they'll know about our location, Karen and that special would definitely come to my location assuming that they got both me and Kenny.

And once the strong soldiers mobilized, Kelly and Kenny would use the opportunity to break past the weak guards and run for the safe zone since the strong ones will be sent after me.

I then set a few of the bombs I got and spread them in the rubble, I got a few extras from my siblings so I can spare a few.

After a while, I turned on the signal and throw the watches in different directions on the ground as I wait to ambush the oncoming soldiers, but it took only about a minute as I can see Karen with the special grabbing her wrist appearing out of nowhere.

"Be careful, they could shoot from anywhere" she warned as she picked up one of the watches

"I don't need you to tell me that, girl" it replied

< This special can teleport?! Shit! It can just teleport me back to their allies, it looks like it requires physical contact, so just gotta make sure I stay far away>

I then aimed my rifle, once I saw Karen walking far away from the special. I pulled the trigger and shoot one of the bombs spread on the ground which exploded and causing a chain reaction of small explosions in the area
