Chapter 37
On the lake to the right of route 118 can be seen multiple people surfing on Pokemon. These Pokemon mostly being Mantines, Tentacruel and the occasional Laprass by a seemingly strong trainer. Brendan seeing this new terrain gets excited wanting to catch a new Pokemon. Brendan now looming over the grass, sees a Pokemon in the distance.
Pokemon: Trapinch (Light Blue)
"Trapinch!"

'A tranpinch huh'. Brendan says to himself, thinking of his luck. Brendan seeing this new Pokemon decides to catch it, thinking this Brendan engages in a fight with it using Lairon.

"Lairon!"
"Trapinch!"
Brendan after a few minutes of bullying the Trapinch, catches it and adds it to his collection of Pokemon that in the future will make anything and everything scared with its strength alone.
After a few minutes of getting to know the little guy, Brendan decides to walk to route 119 with trapinch to get it use to himself. Walking down the route, Brendan takes up a few more Pokemon battles wanting to level up trapinch and some of his other Pokemon. Brendan on this route fought a total of 38 trainers. These trainers consisted mainly of 2nd tier gym badge level Pokemon as they were either new trainers or mostly just casual Pokemon.
In the process Brendan was able to get Trapinch a lot more experience than if he was just training with weights or practising moves, which helped Trapinch out a lot. Trapinch after winning all of those matches and getting stronger, started to scratch his neck a bit more often, making it sometimes weird as Brendan would need to slow down.
Brendan noticing this, thinks that Trapinch is close to evolving and might need that extra push. but sadly that won't be happening on this route as Brendan and the overly tanky Trapinch walts their way into Fortree city.
The city looked dazzling; it was way different than the games. The houses looked modern but with a bit of a twist, with a homey feel to it, with multiple different plants being grown on and close to it. You can see many people walking around and chatting with a smile with their Pokemon happily walking around. Brendan amazed by the sight, suddenly hears a voice.
"Brendan, its been a while since our last meeting!" A sweet but confident voice says. Brendan turns around, widens his eyes recognising who it is.
"Whats wrong Brendan cat got your tongue, we didn't get to talk much back in Rustboro". The now identified Wallace says in a teasing tone. Brendan, now recovering from shock, quickly replies.
"Didn't know the famous celebrity Wallace would talk to me". Brendan says in a joking voice. Brendan shortly after asks wallace if he wants to catch up and talk for a bit, seeing that they got a lot of time till their next Pokemon match. Wallace quickly agreeing, wanting to chat with a fellow trainer. Both Brendan and Wallace, before going for dinner though, go to the nearest Pokecentre and sign in to their rooms to have a place to go back to later on.
Both trainers now walking outside the Pokecentre feeling refreshed after taking care of themselves in their own separate rooms (SEPARATE ROOMS I TELL, YOU NO HORNI). Wallace starting the conversation first, asks a question.
"Brendan I want to have a Pokemon battle with you, believe it or not after our first battle i've kind of used you as a motivator for me to get stronger, a rival you can say". Wallace says with hidden determination. Brendan hearing this responds.
"We can have a Pokemon battle after our gym battle, now that I think about it how many badges do you have?" Brendan questions smoothly deflecting the request to battle Wallace. Wallace getting a little embarrassed remembering that Brendan told him that he has a battle today with the gym leader responds.
"I'm currently on five badges right now so this city's gym will be my sixth gym badge!" Wallace responds chirpily. Brendan hearing this, nods already expecting someone as talented as Wallace not being too far from him in terms of progress of gym badges considering he mostly won because of typing advantage.
The two now rivals walking into the little cafe start to converse about Pokemon in general and how their journey has been so far. In the middle of the talk Brendan gets surprised by how Wallace travels around with a helicopter as his family is extremely wealthy, as they are the people in the Hoenn region who produce Pokeblocks and Pokemon food.
Both trainers getting to know each other better, giving each other their Poke gear numbers to talk about once in a while. After an hour or two of just Pokemon talk they eventually get up and start heading towards the gym.
Brendan looking forward to the new challenge, walks with an extra zap in his step as Wallace has a glint in his eyes wanting to see Brendans new Pokemon and him battling. With Wallaces connections he was able to watch the Pokemon Battle Brendan had with Flannery.
