The Beginning of the Operation

(Selene's Perspective)

I had been waiting outside of a large mansion in Asiorus, specifically outside of Beijing. I had joined in on the operation of the pirate and the spangled-man, it was boring so far but honestly, with Yao involved, I wasn't really questioning the validity of the threat we were about to face.

The night was silent with little to no noises from any wildlife. The wind was whipping the canopies of the trees as it whistled through the individual sprigs and leaves of the trees. Occasionally there was the sound of a car going past along the highway a mile away but other than that, nothing.

I had the daggers sheathed at my side as my clothes lightly crimpled from my crouching position. In my ear was a rather annoying piece of technology that allowed for distant communication. I found the method annoying and stupid, since I was a Godking now, but i followed in what they wanted to do. They were more experienced than me in such matters as most of my life had just been me killing people, torturing them and enjoying the little amounts of succour I received throughout time.

Minutes passed in boredom as I got closer to just trying to annihilate the entire buildings from its foundations to the bounds of its grounds. A small transmission through the earpiece then gave me the signal i needed to start advancing forwards. Surrounding me several small movements of underbrush and foliage told me of the location of several of the members of the Shield Task Force.

The Task Force itself was odd, consisting of a man called Coulson, a rather diminutive but fiery woman called Sky, a rather lethal woman called May and an Ebony man with massive muscles and a shotgun on his back. I called them odd because Sky wore bracelets made of metal that I could tell had something to do with powers of some sort. The ebony man, a nickname I had given him because his name was hard to pronounce, had some deep trauma from something. Coulson seemed to be way too calm and cool. And ultimately May was just way too cautious, it was strange and made me almost wince in anticipation of a betrayal.

To make matters worse, there was a man called strange that Yao had sent with me. He was adorned in a red cape, something not particularly stealthy, and had the obnoxious trait of constantly asking questions and speaking. The only reason he hadn't so far was because I placed a spell over his mouth using the small amounts of knowledge I had collected over time and this was sufficient for him to get lost in the minutia of the spell. Yes, the spell didn't last five seconds, he was just so darn interested in it that he shut up and began to look into it.

'Fucking wizards...'

We advanced forwards under cover of night as inside the house I heard several guards and armed personnel. I could hear the cocking of their weaponry as they lazily stared out into the environs. All of them were speaking Chinese or Cantonese and most spoke with a small accent, indicating a presence of African Mercenaries. I looked over at Coulson and waved to get his attention, he saw it instantly and started to watch my hands. I raised all ten of my fingers and made a small gun sign with my right hand, following it up with a circular motion. Basically I was saying ten armed dudes inside, patrolling. He nodded and started to softly talk into the comm system, using a sound dampener given to him by Fury.

Spangled-man and the Pirate were close by in a secure building about five minutes away, the building old and abandoned sitting within the nearby forest. This was important as supposedly Spangled-man was our backup in case things go wrong. I didn't know why I was among the first out and not put in reserve but I didn't care too much as I found playing spy and hunter a little exhilarating.

The team quickly disabled the mercenaries and guards vis Sky's power to make things vibrate. I found it a little interesting but ultimately shrugged it off as all she did was implode their hearts and I had many ways to do that to someone, let alone my wife. Sky was acting a little cocky as she was about to get stabbed from behind, so I easily flicked my finger and a shadow from nearby apparated into a tentacle and sliced the man in half, from top to bottom. She turned to see that and looked at me with an apologetic face. I simply shook my head and walked forwards.

The mansion itself was dead quiet and had no lights on except for an office light on the top floor. I was fairly certain that there was at least twenty people in the house, either guards or members of Hydra, i had no idea. I did the hand communication thing again and got Coulson to make the plan as I simply was just here for if shit went bad... You know fight evil with even greater evil, something along the lines of that.

Coulson started to split us into teams with the majority of the Shield agents taking the right wing of the building and the left over members taking the left. I was on the left with May and Coulson whilst Sky and Ebony dude took the right. Honestly I was getting over the sneakiness but decided to ultimately finish the charade. Coulson broke the glass as May leapt in afterwards, the sound dampener working for the glass as well. I followed them soon after as I felt the power in the house amplify and darken. It now felt as if some ancient being of immense strength had been residing here for a long time... The smell of honey and cinnamon in the air also gave me an unsettled feeling.

'Is this what I think it is?'

Just as soon as I asked myself that the room filled with a pungent odour. 'For fuck's sake.'
