EPISODE 71: What Glows?!*

Outside the arena, the two of us met. He was poleaxed. His face was still soggy with all the sweat from his previous Pokemon gym battle. He also seemed enervated. He greeted me with a broad beam and a little tease, "I saw you watching my match. You must be one of my fans."

"What? Of course not. I watched to learn." I clarified with a pout.

"Hehe, anyway, are you here for a day-off again? It seems to me you're not wearing your uniform."

"R-right. I was given an opportunity to explore the town once more after my success despite the organization itself escaping."

"Oh... um." His voice cooled as he scratched his nape. He continued his words, "I'm sorry for fighting with you yesterday."

I chortled lightly, saying, "It's fine."

'R-Really? Anyway, I was wondering if you can come with me. I've eavesdropped a few people and they said they were able to witness the ancient Mew." he showed his Pokedex to me, displaying the image of the said Pokemon.

"M-Mew? You want me to help you find Mew?"

"Yes. Catching it will surely make my team stronger. I heard there was a cave somewhere in the west of this town."

For a moment, I reckoned his words. I dreamed of meeting the ancient Mew, the ancestor of all Pokemon. It is said, Mew contains every single DNA found on every Pokemon that ever existed. It's also cute and adorable.

"Thank you for the details! I'm catching it first." I teased him, sticking out my tongue as I rushed to the west of the town. Behind, he chased me, saying, "Wait! Mew will be mine!"

I run, feet kissing the land. Perhaps a little while ago I would have balked at the idea of running so far and fast, now I relish the prospect.

Logan's feet pounded the tarmac with all the grace of a sack of wet concrete, the springing graceful steps of twenty miles earlier had long since disappeared. His rasping throat was as parched as a dead lizard in the desert sun. His head bobbed loosely from side to side with each footfall and his eyes felt heavy in their sockets.

We chased each other down the streets and into the cave. We ran, not thinking of what lies ahead to the point we lost count of our coordinates. Somewhere inside the cave in which the witnesses spotted the ancient Mew, me and Logan halted the race as we pondered on our surroundings. There was no visible light except for our torch.

"Look what you did?! Now we're lost!" Logan said, flustered.

"Hehe, I got excited, that's all." I utter back, embarrassed.

"It's fine. I guess we have no choice but to move onward and find the ancient Mew." Logan sighed and led the way. He walked in front and I walked behind, following his footsteps and watching the beam of light of his flashlight touch the soggy and wet rocks.

Then, I began to grow curious about the place so I decided to look it up on the internet. The downside, there was no signal so my Rotom-Phone was not of use. I tried using my Pokedex and to my surprise, it was labeled 000 which means, it has no name or whatsoever.

"Hey. Um, this place is not recorded in any map at all." I told Logan, worried about wherever he is trying to lead ourselves.

"Relax, I'm a professional coordinator." he looked back to me and boasted.

"Do you even know what a coordinator means?" I pouted and asked sarcastically.

"Um... a person who is good with coordinates, right?"

"Sigh, never mind. Just- oh wait." about to finish my words, I saw something glowing on the floor. It was red and it had this some sort of magnetic pull which lulls me closer.

"I wouldn't touch that if I were you. That belongs to a Sableye. They look like goblins but colored in violet."

"Yeah, I know what they are. Sableye gems are usually oblongs and this? It is shaped as a diamond in which it fits the size of my palm. I'm keeping it for now. You never know when this will be of assistance." I took the gem from the ground, gave it a little toss, and placed it inside my bag. Though the size is of my palm, it was unable to fit my pocket for some reason.

Removing the ruby caused a sudden shift. The whole ground began to move all of a sudden and it was quite shocking. A rock tooth fell from above and it headed right for me. I prickled, watching the stalactite descend towards me. By luck, Logan pushed me to the ground.

Upon hitting the ground, my mind snapped back to reality and my prickled spirit was no more. The quake suddenly stopped all of a sudden the gem in my bag began to emit some sort of radio waves. It lasted for about eight seconds then poof, it disappeared.

"Are you alright?" Logan asked, as he once more, extended his hand for me. My cheeks glowed in a slightly pink color as I extended his arm towards him. He pulled me up, and I accidentally stumbled to his shoulders.

"Oh um." immediately after noticing how close we were to each other, I ran far from him. It made him laugh as we continued our journey inside this cave. As for me, I tried to forget that I've ever stumbled on his shoulders. I was blushing in embarrassment.

Our long walk continued and we went deeper until we made the decision to halt all of this tiring process for a while. He was able to set up a small campfire as I sat on the rough stone edges, wiping my sweat away with a damp cloth. My mind was still bothered about the gem. It must be of great importance but I can't certainly say if that importance is for something good or something far worse than expected.

Somewhere inside the cave...

"Courtney, my radar was able to detect an outburst of energy sent by the ruby itself," Tabitha reported with a smirk. In front of him, Courtney led the way while holding a small torch.

"Then we must hurry. I head Team Aqua is had already found the Sapphire. Oh well, that is just an assumption." replied, Courtney.

Nice and slow romance, trying to slowly build it. No rush. No rush.

We're near the finale, one of the longest of this book so far. And of course, I'll be revealing the squadron sent by the Pokemon International Police too!
