Chapter 1Chapter 1: The Plan

I rubbed my purple, bruised left cheek. I had gotten into fights before, but this one was serious. In other fights, I never actually threw a punch. It was more slapping than hitting. But Weston decided to change all that today. I tried to adjust comfortably into the steel chair, but it hurt... alot.

Guess I kinda forgot to introduce myself. The name is Toby Frost, and in 1 week's time I start my first year in High School. It seemed only a few days ago that I was still in the fifth grade. A mindless, clueless fifth grader who didn't know what the real world was. I've always tried to keep a smile on my face, but this last year really hit me hard. I've gotten into more fights than I could could count on my hands. I try not to get caught up in too much drama, but I love hearing people's opinions. Which this year, I did not expect for people to drag me into their drama. Everyone loves me, but they never seemed to ask if I liked them.

I have two brothers, both of which are younger. My parents don't really care what I do. Half the time they don't even know I'm there. My friends (if you can even call them that) follow me wherever I go, and I follow them. Which all of it is surprising, since I am not a huge fan of crowds and people. But today was different.

I was hanging out with my friends when we ran into Weston and his small gang. Weston reminded me of a lynx: narrow, golden-colored eyes, points ears. What ruined his scary look though was the rat's ass of a mullet he had. I sure did wish he was as strong as a rat though. At the sight of him, my friends ditched me, riding away to the gas station without me. My bike's chain was stuck, so I chucked the bike at them and sprinted away as fast as I could, but they eventually caught up.

Two of them took me by the legs, while one held me by my arms. I shook as hard as I could, but I couldn't break their grasp.

"You look like you need a cut, Frost," Weston violently said. He pulled out a pocket knife about 5 inches long. My eyes widened with fear. For some reason, the dude holding my right leg down lowered his grasp. I didn't hesitate for a second.

First, I lifted up my right leg and kicked him hard in the gut and Weston's buddy doubled over. Weston turned to see what happened, and I took that chance to fling my leg hard upward. Straight into his balls. He didn't react or flinch at all. Instead, he put his pocket knife away, turned to his friends and said, "Why don't we all feed our friend here." Weston looked me dead in the eye and said, "Make sure he's stuffed." His friends all let go of me and I took the chance to run, but that didn't last long either. One of Weston's buddies grabbed my shoulder, but I used my elbow to connect with his nose. He cried out in agony. The second guy though landed a blow right to my cheek. I nearly passed out from how hard he punched, but I managed to keep standing. We were in an alleyway by now, and they all started to surround me.

The last thing I remember before they knocked me out was them chanting, "I think its time to eat."

I came home that day with a sprained ankle and multiple cuts and bruises. My friends didn't think to come and see if I was alright. My parents didn't ask if I was alright. I don't think they even noticed. I went straight up to my room on the second floor, collapsed on the bed and thought deeply about last year. I didn't care about the pain. I've had it worse. I thought about the, "voting for president" incident. I thought more on about drama of this-person-was-in-a-relationship-with-this-person scenarios, where people would try to get me to take their side and not the side of truth.

They tried and put me on one of their sides, pulling me like a game of tug-o-war. If I made a wrong move, they mocked me. They mocked my opinions. If I made a wrong move and they didn't get their way, they never spoke to me again. I don't understand why people are like that. I don't understand why are emotions are constantly being mixed up, our self-esteem and hope for the future shaken like a bottle of soda. And eventually, that Soda cap is going to explode off the bottle if you keep shaking it.

Which brings me to the plan: starting from the first day of school, I will determine if I start a school shooting in 100 days time. The fate of the people will be decided by this period of time, and if they can pass my judgement, I will let them live. I have an entire list of students, their names written with my ink of fate. In a journal, I will record the happenings of each and every day. Will they all make it? I doubt it, but we will see.
