Chapter 1The Lonely Road

Two girls walk down a long, dark road. They talk about their day and what has been going on lately. No one dares go down there, because no one ever comes back. They see things long forgotten and better left in the past. They are trapped in their own minds, for it's a place that only exists in one's mind. A place you can only imagine and go to through a machine.

Dominique had created this machine. She had always been creative, but couldn't build her inventions. However, her brother could put anything together if given the right parts and the right tools. So, for two years, late at night, Dominique and Post slaved over the machine. Finally, they finished it and were now testing it. To Dominique's surprise, it worked.

The two girls know this road very well. They walked up and down it all their lives. Ever since her mom had died, Melissa hadn't actually gone back. And that is why the road had become so dark and twisted the farther they walked. Dominique had created this in her mind so they could both go somewhere familiar. She knew Melissa missed the place but didn't have the nerve to go back so she had created this scene as she was still testing her machine. At least she had some good memories of walking this particular part of the road so it was easy to recreate.

Outside was her club. It was two stories high. The first floor hosted the bar, the band, and a dance floor. The second floor had another dance floor and a VIP area where you could hold your own private parties for a price. Beside that area was a closed-off room to the public. This is where her machines were. They weren't open to the public yet. Once everything was running smoothly and all the kinks were out she would open her virtual reality booths to the club. They would come at a price to use as they didn't have preset places or rides you could go on. Instead, they took you to a place your mind thought up and you could do whatever you could think of. If you wanted to go somewhere with someone else then you synced the second machine to yours. This required an algorithm and a key.

"Dominique, you shouldn't keep things to yourself all the time."

"What do you mean, Melissa?"

"I realize we're in a place created by the mind, but it still lets you keep secrets," Melissa said.

"It was designed to do that, so if two people were on at once they couldn't see everything in the other's mind."

"I know, I know, but by the look on your face, I can tell somethings wrong. Plus, you're just walking and you seem to be very distant."

"Perhaps..."

"Perhaps? Is that all you can say?" Melissa asked.

"Perhaps I don't want to talk about it. If I do decide to talk about it, you'll be the first to know."

"Don't tell me then. See if I care."

"I know you care and that you mean well Mel, but I really just don't want to talk about it."

"Would you at least tell me what it's about? Just a hint?" Melissa prodded.

"It's life. I'm just sick of it. I'm just tired of everything. Nothing is exciting anymore."

"Yeah, life is getting right dull. Guess all the excitement from two years ago is over and you moving on with your life has just been that. Moving on."

"Can we change the subject?" Dominique asked.

"Sure. So, have you had any more odd dreams lately?" Melissa asked Dominique.

"I'm always having them. The same ones over and over. I never get to see what happens next. I must say that I wish I could see the end. I don't know why I keep having them. Every time I have them, I see things like flashbacks. It's like I'm recalling memories, but they aren't from my life. It's me in the images, but they're from a past life judging from the way people are dressed, and the way they act. It seems like they only started after I started testing the machine. I mean, am I going crazy? Am I imagining something that I want to happen?" Dominique responded.

"You have always had an imagination. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe you are just dreaming up another book. I don't know why you don't write more books and try to sell them. You are so talented," Melissa said.

"You know I don't let anyone read my books. I don't know why I get so embarrassed by someone reading them but I do. You are the only person who has ever read them and probably ever will. I love to write but I just do it for me. I like to think up stories in my head and sometimes I just write them when the story seems like it would turn out to be interesting. But usually, the stories I think of aren't very long and all the action is up front. I can't put enough filler in them to make them into a book worth reading."

"I think you could if you tried. I mean, look at what you're doing here. I never would have thought of this, let alone brought it to life. But you did. And look at where we are. I know you did this for me. I want you to know that I appreciate it. I haven't seen the house in a long time. I wonder if it's still standing since no one has lived in it for over ten years. But I know I couldn't bring myself to go back and see it all run down and probably falling down."

"It might not be like that. You never know. But I can understand why you don't want to go back. It doesn't feel the same anymore. I miss the place and your mom and I think that's why I can't go back there either. At least this way you can relive the good times, you know?"

"That's true. So, do you think the machines are ready yet?"

"No, unfortunately. They are great for a short time, but for longer uses, no."

Stolen by the Rebel King

As a princess who could not wield magic, Princess Daphne’s only value to her kingdom was her arranged marriage. The task was simple, but when Daphne was kidnapped and brought to the cold mountains of Vramid, she realized that she was in over her head. She had heard of these cursed mountains before― rocky terrain, freezing temperatures, and the land was ruled by a man feared by many within the continent. King Atticus Heinvres, the blood-thirsty ruler of the North. Even though she had never met him before, tales were spread of King Atticus’s ruthlessness. Some said he was a monster, others claimed he was the devil himself, but whatever the story was, everyone knew of the man who had powers beyond anyone’s imagination. He could topple armies and crumble nations with just one wave of his hand, aided by what others rumored to be a cursed obsidian ring. No one outside of Vramid had ever met the fearsome king before. Not until Daphne. However, upon meeting the formidable man, Daphne found out that the king might not really be the monster others had claimed him to be. In fact, what was hidden under that obsidian shield could just be a diamond in the rough. ― [Excerpt] “Now… where should I put you both?” he asked casually, not expecting a reply. “It’s regretful that I only have one chandelier.” “Underneath my bed? No, no, too dirty. My dust bunnies don’t deserve this,” Atticus mused to himself. “The mantlepiece? How about the vanity table? I suppose if I lop off one of your heads I could mount it over… Wife, which head do you want to stare at while you do your hair?” “Atticus!” Daphne screamed. “I don’t want any heads! Let them go.” “Fair enough.” Atticus shrugged, and flicked his fingers. There were two identical cracks as both necks snapped at once. Daphne gasped, horrified. This man, her husband, had just killed two men with a flick of his finger, as though he was snuffing out candles. “I told you to let them go!” Daphne cried out. “Yes, I let them go,” Atticus said. Then, his eyes darkened. “To receive divine judgment from the heavens.” ― Discord Server: https://discord.gg/7HAMK2bRYU Spin-off/Prequel: The Hidden King's Stolen Wife (WIP)

Hades' Cursed Luna

In a world where Lycans and werewolves are sworn enemies, Eve Valmont is a werewolf cursed by a prophecy and framed. Betrayed by her own pack and imprisoned for years, her fate takes a darker twist when she is offered to the Lycan King, Hades Stavros—a ruler feared for his ruthless conquests and deadly prowess. Bound by an ancient prophecy and haunted by the ghosts of her past, Eve is now at the mercy of the one being she should hate and fear the most—The Hand of Death himself. Hades, a king carved from blood and his own soul's decay, determined to avenge his family's slaughter and rid his people of the werewolves. He believes Eve is the key to his victory. To him, she is nothing but weapon foretold by prophecy, a tool he will wield to destroy the opposing forces threatening his pack. Yet, he finds himself craving this powerful yet broken woman. Leaving him questioning if she is truly his weapon or the one destined to unravel his carefully laid plans. *** He stalked toward me, a predator closing in on its prey, his eyes dark and unreadable. "So, you laugh?" His voice was low, dangerously soft, making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I swallowed hard, suddenly aware of how difficult it had become to breathe. "Hades, I—" "But you only laugh at other men's jokes," he interrupted, his gaze piercing, devoid of any humor. "Not your husband's." The accusation in his tone was sharp, slicing through the air between us. A nervous chuckle escaped me. "You can't be serious... He’s your beta, for Goddess’ sake." In an instant, he closed the distance between us, so fast it left me breathless. His hands gripped my waist, pulling me flush against his body, the heat of him making my skin tingle. I gasped, but before I could say a word, his lips crashed onto mine, claiming my mouth with a force that sent shockwaves through me. The kiss was punishing, hungry—I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. When he finally pulled back, I was trembling, my chest heaving as I struggled to regain my breath. His eyes, dark and stormy, searched mine with a possessive intensity. "You can’t laugh at my jokes..." he whispered, his voice a dangerous rasp as his fingers trailed lower, sending a shiver down my spine, "but you’ll come with my fingers." I shivered, heat pooling low in my belly at his words, his touch. The world around us blurred, fading into nothing as his hand slipped lower, drawing a ragged gasp from my lips. The look in his eyes told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me, and there was no denying the primal connection between us in that moment. "I don’t need your laughter," he murmured against my skin, his breath hot on my neck. "I’ll have every other part of you instead." **** Dark fantasy romance Morally Grey ML Angst Suspense ENEMIES to lovers Smut (like sprinkles on your ice cream)

What can you say about yourself? We can say many things--good and bad--but we all want to be able to say things that will make us feel good about ourselves and our influence on others. If you want to be successful, if you want to be happy, if you want to be healthy, the way to cultivate that life is to know you are living a life that is meaningful. Here are a few things you should be able to say to let your life be your voice. 1. I followed my heart. Life is short and everyone has something that they are passionate about. Be able to say that you didn't let fear hold you back. The cost of not following your heart is spending the rest of your life wishing you had. 2. I believe in myself. Even if you fail, it doesn't mean you will continue to fail. Be able to say you believed in yourself and kept trying. Everything that is successful will begin with you believing in yourself. 3. I live by high standards. Never apologize for high standards; people who really want to be in your life will rise up to meet them. The quality of who you are is reflected in the standards you set for yourself; position yourself to live up to the rise of your own expectations. 4. I treat others the way I want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be spoken to; respect people as you wish to be respected. Your status, religion, race, political views, or culture don't matter--being a good person really is as simple as following the golden rule and treating others as you would like them to treat you. 5. I understand how precious time is. Be able to say that you didn't waste time. Remember that time is free but priceless, that you can't own it but you can spend it--wisely or unwisely. Treat time as a resource to be invested carefully. 6. I look for positivity in all things. Instead of thinking of all the things that can go wrong, become one of the people who look on how they go right. Your mind is powerful, and when you fill it with positivity your life naturally becomes positive. When you think positive thoughts, positive things will happen. 7. I trust my intuition. Don't let anyone talk you out of what you know to be true. Trust your inner voice and allow yourself to be led by your intuition. The more empowered you become, the stronger you become and the happier you become. Avoid going against your better judgment or getting talked into things that don't feel right. 8. I speak up. When you don't speak up for the things that matter to you, you are not being true to yourself. When you speak your mind, you stand with confidence and gain courage. 9. I am a tough person who has made it through tough times. The times when life is toughest are often the times that lead you to the most meaningful discoveries. When times are tough, dare to be tougher. Anyone can run away, but facing problems and working through them makes you strong. 10. I am good at letting people know they matter. No matter how busy you are, make time to let people know they matter. Be there for them, make plans with them, set aside time for relationships. 11. I am a responsible person. Don't be the person who blames others or makes excuses. One of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do what you know you should do even when you don't feel like doing it--and those daily decisions often involve taking responsibility for your own choices and actions. Remember that your actions do affect other people, so always be careful with what you say and do. 12. I am grateful. Gratitude will always make you happy. If you have a hard time finding something to be grateful for, look around you and watch how other people are struggling. Be grateful you have it better, then go out and help others. At the end of the day, it's not that happy people are thankful but that thankful people are happy. 13. I have forgiven those who have hurt me. Forgiveness takes great strength, but few things are more worth the effort. Life becomes easier and business becomes more manageable when you learn to forgive. The alternative is an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation that strips your energy and humanity. 14. I have no regrets. Be able to say you took chances, you told the truth, you wronged a right, you spent time with those you love, you followed your heart and lived your passion, you forgave and moved forward with fortitude. The worst form of regret is regret for the chances we didn't take. 15. I am making a difference. Don't tire of doing little things for others, because sometimes those little things occupy the biggest part of their heart. In life we cannot always do great things, but, as Mother Teresa said, we can always do small things with great love. At the end it is not only about making a living, it is about making a difference.
