[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
The Land of Sound.
...
...
"You said a Sharingan...?" Naruto turned to the man after hearing this information.
"Yes... The Mizukage was a kind person, but there was a change in recent years, with him wanting to purge the Village Hidden in the Mist of Kekkei Genkai bloodlines, along with the bloody programs he implemented for our young ones during their graduations. An example of this is how one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, Zabuza, deserted after going through a test where he had to eliminate all his peers to assume his position..." Ao spoke, finding Light's reaction strange when he mentioned the Sharingan.
"..." Naruto remained silent as he listened. All Sharingan users should be in Konoha... So this meant it could be that masked man or perhaps even Itachi, though he doubted it would be the latter. Itachi didn't seem like the type to put a Kage of a foreign village under a genjutsu.
"Could it be him..." Akame asked Naruto. Meanwhile, Ao raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, seeming to think they might know the one behind the Mizukage.
"Probably, within the limits of what I know about this world..." Naruto said. After all, there was also a chance it could be someone else. He was not omnipresent to know everything about this world and its mysteries yet; he was still on his journey for that.
His gaze returned to the Kiri ninjas and their leader with an eyepatch. "Give me the scroll with her data. I want to look at it." Naruto finally spoke. If he could destroy that masked man with this, he would, but within his moral principles.
"Here." Ao said as he tossed the official mission scroll to Light, who caught and opened it.
"I'm not going to abduct him as you almost want here... but I will locate him and talk to him. If he accepts the conditions of the scroll, I will escort him to the Land of Water, to your rebel camp." Naruto said. He could talk to this Jinchuuriki, and if he wanted to return, considering he had fled the country due to the regime, Naruto wouldn't condemn someone like that. After all, Kimimaro was an example of a person who wouldn't return to the current Land of Water.
"We appreciate you accepting it." Ao said, although he expected Light to accept the mission for the money they had offered. He knew Light's history and his group naturally declined such things unless they were dealing with criminals.
"Alright, we'll go after him. We'll get in touch as soon as we find him and after a conversation." Naruto said and turned back to his group, giving his back to the Kiri rebels.
Naruto passed by Akame and Kimimaro, who followed him immediately. They then departed while the Kiri group also left.
"Shall we look for him immediately?" Akame asked since Naruto had accepted, and they were heading back to the Village of Hot Springs.
"I want to talk to the village leader before we leave." Naruto said and continued, passing through the wall and the ninjas who did nothing but let him pass.
The leader was once again in his office, waiting to hear news of the negotiation his new and dangerous tenant was having with Kiri, when his window opened, and the same person entered, making him raise his head while frowning at the blond masked man.
"Hello." Naruto said.
"What can I do for you now, Light..." The man said, narrowing his eyes while he and the ANBU in the room frowned. It had already been difficult to calm the population after they were found unconscious throughout the village, and now Light was back.
"I'm just informing you that I am leaving, so we won't see each other again, or so I hope. Anyway, the information about us that you put in the bingo book was very good, but it seems they didn't include what happened in this village. It looks like those people didn't quite believe what you reported..." Light said calmly while the man seemed grim, thinking Light would attack him for this the next moment.
There was the money from Konoha for Danzo's death, which Naruto had yet to receive, but he didn't expect this village to be his intermediary. So he was ending their relationship at this moment until something in the future might unite them again, either as enemies or allies.
"You can't blame me for that, after all, that's how the world works. If it wasn't me, someone else would have sent the information." He spoke firmly, not believing his actions were wrong.
"I'm not blaming you for that, but I find it funny anyway. Goodbye, but remember, the next time we become enemies, I will kill you." Naruto said and jumped out of the window again while the man sighed, watching Naruto move south of the village after meeting up with Akame and Kimimaro on one of the rooftops.
It didn't take long for them to pass through the village walls again and head south. "Where are we going?" Kimimaro asked.
"We're going to where the last Kiri ninjas lost the trail of the Jinchuuriki, which is in the Land of Tea. We'll continue today until the former land of the Uzumakis, rest there for one night, and continue to the country the next day," Naruto said, and they nodded.
In the next few hours, they passed through the entire southern forest and some villages and towns of the country, including some where they had previously worked on missions for the old guild.
As soon as they reached the sea, they continued while leaving the country, with Kimimaro and Akame walking on the water and Naruto using Geppo in the air. They continued until they saw the country as the day was ending, arriving at the ancient civilization of the Uzumaki clan once again.
"Prepare the food while we rest to leave the next day," Naruto instructed as they set up camp shortly after.
They stayed on the edge of the country as night fell, hiding the campfire behind four walls in a building.
"What happened to this place...?" Akame asked after seeing the entire city destroyed. In Konoha, they didn't talk about what happened in this country. Even the Uzumakis were not treated as a great clan of the past, not even as old and valuable allies of Konoha in the first wars, nor that the wife of the First Hokage was an Uzumaki. They had removed all this from Konoha's history during the Third Hokage's time.
"This is the clan my mother was born into. She used to tell me and my sister what her life was like in this place when she was just a child before going to Konoha at the age of seven or eight..." Naruto began, gaining Akame's attention.
"The first time I came here, I met Kimimaro..." Naruto said, while she was surprised, not knowing this, and Kimimaro nodded in confirmation.
"It was by chance, but it was a great outcome." Naruto said with a small smile, after all, he met someone he could trust. "But before coming here, I felt everything this place carries, and it's not a very good thing. I can feel the pain of these people. My mother always said that this clan was very lively, with their high chakra capacity and affinity with the water element, and their knowledge of fuuinjutsu. They were a prosperous country and a strong ally of Konoha. At the time I came here, I didn't understand how a powerful clan ended in disaster. So I went after it..." Naruto spoke, looking at the fire. None of them wore masks since it was just them.
"The same elders who had condemned the Uchiha clan in our village also indirectly condemned the Uzumaki clan, although I suspect they must also be behind its destruction," he said with some anger. Those old men from Konoha were a much bigger cancer than they seemed.
"Fearing the power of the Uzumakis in the first wars and with the greed to gain their sealing abilities and knowledge, four entire nations united in an attack to eliminate them, and Konoha, who should have been their ally, denied help to them at the last moment, leaving the Uzumakis at the mercy of their destruction..." Naruto spoke.
"..." Silence fell over Akame and Kimimaro upon hearing this. They were used to all kinds of atrocities, but something always managed to surprise them.
"It was here that I began to decide that this world should have justice, some moral check on all the atrocities and wars that happen in this place," Naruto said.
"I will help you with that," Akame said, supporting Naruto.
"You can count on me, Naruto. I also want that dream, a fairer world, where what happened to all our clans doesn't happen to others..."
"Yes." Naruto nodded with satisfaction. Three people from different clans were there, united under the light of an ideal, but they all had something in common—they all had their clans fall victim to an atrocity.
"That's why I'm abandoning my father's name, Namikaze..." Naruto continued. "I want to be known to the world as Naruto Uzumaki, as soon as I no longer use my codename Light, in honor of the people who died unjustly here. I want the world to never forget the clan that the great nations destroyed." Naruto spoke with a firm tone.
"..." Akame and Kimimaro remained silent upon hearing this, simply nodding in agreement with Naruto's wish. It wasn't that he hated his father's name or anything like that; he just wanted to represent all the souls that still seemed restless in that place. Naruto could still feel the cries for mercy and help in that location with his Haki.
The day finally dawned after they rested and prepared by packing everything up. "Let's go..." Naruto said, and they moved forward, heading south of the country before proceeding to the Land of Tea, which was south of the Land of Fire.
Everything seemed peaceful until the end of the country, as they traversed the last part of the Uzumaki clan's territory. Naruto noticed something as he looked to the side.
"Is something wrong, Naruto?" Akame called from the ground, noticing Naruto's strange behavior.
"It's fine... it's just that I sensed something, but I want to check it out later, maybe after the mission." Naruto said, still looking in that direction. His Haki scanned the area, and he found a secret hideout within the ruins containing numerous bones of people who had died decades ago, probably from starvation in that space. But what caught Naruto's attention were the scrolls in the area next to that chamber. It appeared to be a vault, and inside it was something even more surreal, but he wouldn't have time to see it as they continued towards the sea with his companions.
They entered the southern country, the Land of Noodles, known for its culinary delights. 'My mother and sisters would love to visit this place...' Naruto thought as he passed by the local sentinels, heading south until they crossed the country on the same day without engaging with any major cities, and entered the sea again, heading south. After a few more hours, before nightfall, they finally arrived in the Land of Tea.
