Chapter 1 - I must've been desperate

[MC POV]

"Walking my way downtown, walking fast. I don't want to be late for my date..."

I still can't believe that I'm got myself a date with a girl! It's like a dream come true. After all these years I finally got a chance to go on a date with a girl!

I've got terrible luck when it comes to girls since my birth. Every time I try to flirt with a lady someone will appear and cuck block me, It annoys me so much. And if it's not cuck blocking, it would be straight-up rejection. 

I remember that day when I confessed to a girl that I took a fancy when I was still in the academy. Although she is not a great beauty, she has a good temperament which attractive me the most, I don't need a beautiful bitch lover. I took the initiative and approached her, we spent some quality time together being friends and I already sent obvious signals that I've liked her, after that I confessed my feelings.

"I'm sorry, I can't reciprocate your feelings because I already liked some else but we could still be friends y' know?"

While smiling, like bro how can you smiling peacefully while rejecting someone? And you expect me to be friends with you? I'm not even sure whether she was intentionally doing it or not.

Anyway, back to the present, I have arrived in the meeting place. The only thing left to do is wait for my date to arrive.

"Hehehe"

Wait, Stop laughing creepily. Go away my other awkward self! I don't want to mess this up now. Oh, is that her in the distance? But why is she with someone else? Is that her friend? A cousin? It's also a man to boot, what's up with this? I walked towards them.

"Hey Chao Xing"

"Oh? Hi Shen Zhang, How may I help you?" Chao Xing replied.

"Oh- uh... Have you forgotten about our date today? And who's this guy with you?"

"Hahaha" Chao Xing laughed like a bitch.

"Surely you jest... I don't remember setting up a date with a commoner, even I have standards you know. I don't date commoners such as your lowly self." Chao Xing exclaimed. Such bullshit acting, I'm impressed.

Bitch, you literally asked for a date with me yesterday and you still have the audacity to call me a commoner whilst being one yourself. And let me guess, this guy is her rich ugly boyfriend that took a fancy on her. Seeing how arrogant she has become to have the nerve to insult me then this guy must be one of those

And how stupid she is to actually believe this guy's shitty sugar-coated words?

I also can't believe I actually was waiting eagerly for a date with this thot, truly an eye-opener for me.

"Oh, this is my boyfriend, he's the son of a Rank 2 Alchemist and you're not qualified to know his name so don't bother asking," Chao Xing stated.

Yeah, yeah. Don't know and don't fucking care. Is a Rank 2 Alchemist really that impressive? I can literally see countless Rank 2 alchemist in this area right now and none of them are being arrogant about it and what's more, is that... HE'S JUST THE SON OF THE RANK 2 ALCHEMIST!!!!

There's literally nothing you could possibly boast of in that position, people these days, shameless and thick-headed.

Might as well get out of here, there's no use trying to get pissed of something so insignificant and stupid.

"Hah! Look at him leaving, he must've been scared shitless, what a spineless loser!" Chao Xing's boyfriend said.

"Sweetheart, don't mind him, let's just go on with our date. Bothering with wastes like him only waste our precious time," Chao Xing said.

"Yeah, wastes like you."

And I also can't believe I'm wasting my precious time with self-entitled retards. Father was right, stupidity is contagious. Stupid of me to easily trust people.

"WHAT DID YOU SAY TO MY GIRL YOU FUCKING PEASANT?! I DARE YOU TO SAY IT TO HER FACE AND IN FRONT OF ME AGAIN!" Chao Xing's boyfriend shouted.

"YEAH I DO DARE BITCH!"

"Y-YOU! HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT TO ME?! I'LL KILL YOU!" Chao Xing shouted.

"Yeah right, bet you can't even kill a chicken much less me hahaha, all bark no bite."

Shit, last time I saw Chao Xing kill something it was a fucking mosquito.

"Come on Chao Xing, don't waste your time on that trash, he's just jealous of us," Chao Xing's boyfriend stated.

Oh my god... She's not even worth my jealousy, what is she? A Goddess? Perhaps the goddess of bitches.

For me to easily like her, I must've been spiked with a drug or something...

If she didn't even ask me for a date then I wouldn't even be here. Although I'm impressed that she immediately gave in to a guy with only a little bit more wealth than me and what's more is that he's even uglier than me, not to be bragging but I really look ten times better than this living incarnation of an abomination... Tsk-

---*Couple of minutes later*---

"Father, I'm home!"

"Oh welcome back son! how was your date?"

Shen Zhang's father asked upon seeing the teenage boy.

"Nothing new, the bitch immediately switched over to a guy with a bit more wealth than me."

"Hah.... it's not your fault, don't worry too

much, maybe someone would be gay for you or something." Shen Zhang's father jokingly said.

"Excuse me?!"

"Hahaha," Shen Zhang's father laughed. "I'm just kidding son, just don't give up and maybe you'll get a wife or two."

"Father, don't worry, I'm not giving up anytime soon. I might be an average looking guy but I'm confident in my perseverance hahaha."

"Good, Now get ready for dinner." Shen Zhang's father told him.

"Alright father."

I'm sorry for deceiving you father... the truth is that... i only have an average face, I've just been concealing my talent because I'm afraid that I'll bring trouble to you if i expose my true talent in front of public eyes. 

Humans were born as greedy and envious creatures, They would do anything for wealth and power. They also don't want anyone else be above them as it will apparently affect their pathetic pride greatly especially a commoner being as strong as them, the so called 'Nobles' tsk... The strong always prays on the weak. 

And even if you have a godly talent, it would be of no use if you're a dead man. Of course, I'm also not cultivating every day or else I would've reached 2nd Qi Refining stage right now, but in order to not raise any suspicion about my talent to the public with my rapid advancements, I chose to hold back myself and go with the 'average talent' acting.

My cultivation speed would really break the laws of the heavens if I kept cultivating as I would keep achieving breakthroughs in a short time span.

But doing that will only invite death upon my doorstep, as having a high cultivation realm is indeed important, but if you don't have any Cultivation techniques to defend yourself then you're most likely just courting death. 

High Cultivation realm but no Cultivation Techniques is a very bad idea because if someone finds out that you haven't practiced any particular Cultivation techniques despite having a high cultivation then there would be countless cultivators who are more than willing to kill you.

But a cultivator with a high cultivation realm that haven't practiced any cultivation techniques would be unrealistic and very unlikely to happen so it will most likely not occur, but it never hurts to be careful.

I'm just kidding, the real reason is because they could target my father easily if I were to advance too quick and become a threat to the big families, then they would send someone to abduct my father in order to control me as they wish. I don't want to endanger anyone close to me, so I'm just trying to take it slow so I won't attract troublesome attention in my way.

Right now my cultivation level is at the 4th Stage of Qi Gathering the same as an average teenager's cultivation with an average talent despite reaching that level in 2 days.

As much as I want to advance quickly I have to take it slow, baby steps if you must, One step at a time.

Although I have a heaven-defying talent, I have the worst luck when it comes to girls.

Of course, I wouldn't resort to prostitutes, even 'average' cultivators like me have some standards.

"Alright son, dinner is ready."

"Alright, father."

"After you're done with eating go to sleep, our local sect's examination will begin tomorrow and you don't want to miss it."
