Lucille choked. Indeed, she shouldn't have stood him up on such short notice.
After a moment of pondering, she tentatively asked, "How about... After I'm back, shall I treat you to a meal?"
"Just one meal?" Joseph gave a half-mocking smile, clearly dissatisfied with the compensation plan.
Annoyed, Lucille asked, "Two meals, fine?"
"Of course not."
