Before his alarm was set to go off, George's eyes snapped open. The pre-dawn darkness still cloaked his bedroom, but his enhanced senses were already alert, picking up on the subtle sounds of the world awakening outside. He lay still for a moment, listening to the first chirps of early birds and the distant rumble of a garbage truck making its rounds.
With a soft groan, he stood up and swung his legs over the side of the bed. The cool floor beneath his feet sent a small shiver through him, a reminder of how much more sensitive his body had become since his transformation.
George made his way to the bathroom, flicking on the light and wincing slightly at the sudden brightness. He ran a hand through his tousled hair, noting how it seemed more vibrant than before.
The shower beckoned, and George stepped under the spray, adjusting the temperature. The hot water cascaded over his skin, and he closed his eyes, letting it wash away the lingering cobwebs of sleep.
