My Half Girlfriend

Adrian, the only son of a billionaire Mr. Philips Brooks who was also a well known philanthropist just got admitted into Oxford University, he wasn't surprised at all because he knew he was going there after all unlike his two friends Jerry and Cherry Blossoms (the twins) who prayed and read like an admission into Oxford was a Matter of life and death. Funny enough he didn't care nor put so much into his books.

Adrian was a brilliant and a smart Guy of 18, he never dreamt of becoming a business man like his father. He saw himself becoming a lawyer minding his business when it's comes to his father's wealth.

"You don't have to run away from this Adrian, you are going take care of your father's business when the time comes ", Cherry always said.

He always wish his parents have more children being the only child really sucks. But he knew it's was impossible since it took the grace of God for him to be delivered. His parents were childless for 15years before he came along.

When he was twelve He usually pitied his mum as she was always holding house devotions for God to bless her with another child. His dad cared less becomes he felt Adrian was three in one and would successes him when the time comes.

These thoughts always got him mad he wanted a simple life just like his friends, to enjoy and live it to the fullest but nobody understands this not even his best friends, now Oxford was calling and he knew this was the only way out.

Mrs. Brooks woke up excited and she hurried to the kitchen. Usually she wakes up from her bed, take a shower and head straight to work, today was different Adrian was going to the university for the first time and he was going to stay away from home.

she lit the gas stove and wondered how she was going to control her self not to cry when he is leaving, she knew she was going to Miss him.

She didn't want him to go so far away but Adrian wanted to leave, he needed his freedom for the time being. She had to let go because she was afraid of losing her son.

The sound from the boiling water woke her from deep thoughts. She had to be quick she wouldn't want her son to miss his breakfast.

Adrian woke up from sleep, on the normal day it's take more than five screams from his cousin to wake him up but today was different. Nobody came to the room but he woke! He checked the time,

"Oh shit 7:24 am! Why will I sleep so much? he said".

He knew today was one of the most important day of his life. His freedom was all he was anticipating for all this years .

He walked straight to his bathroom and took a quick shower that lasted for five minutes, he was very eager to leave the house, he went down stairs for breakfast and he saw his mom setting the table, its was unlike her who leave for work before 7am!

Or was it because he was leaving?? Was she going to stop him?? Or...

"Sweetheart, come here and have your breakfast" said his mum she interrupted his thoughts.

"Mum you took a leave or some thing?" Adrian said with a look that showed that he was confused.

She looked up and saw her son who was going to be out of her sight soon.

She couldn't believe that Adrian was going to live that day.

"Come son, eat your breakfast quick before you miss your flight, I know you won't want that to happen" said his mum.

"Ok mum, he said taking a seat". Omelets and oats was for breakfast, since that was Adrian favorite his mum wanted him to feel happy before he leave. she remembered how they fought within this past days about him leaving, she didn't want that to happen again.

She knew her son was going to further his education but she wanted him by her side. All these years she waited and waited for a child to come but none showed up. After 15 years Adrian came along, her joy knew no boundaries, Adrian was indeed a perfect child all she could ever wished for, but she wanted to have other children after him.

"Mum am sorry I hurt you, I didn't mean those attitudes, I was afraid, you won't let me go", apologized Adrian. They had a fight when he was offered admission his mum tried her best to change his mind. He remembered the night she came to the room persuading him to choose a school close to home but her efforts was all in vain leading to their fights

"Sweetheart, I don't want to lose you am afraid".

Giving a deep sigh Adrian spoke "mum you don't need to worry , I will be fine moreover you can come visiting if your work allow you to". He knew she won't come, his parents were too busy to spend time with him, on his 9th birthday, he stayed up all night waiting for his parents who promised to show up. He woke up on the couch the next only to see his nanny standing in front of him with a letter saying his parents were out of town and will be back soon. He cried that night later he vowed to do things on his own without involving his parents.

"Okay sweetheart, finish your breakfast" His concluded

Adrian walked straight to his dad room to say good bye.When looked in to the room he saw his mum. "Looking for Mr. Brooks?" Asked his mum.

" Yes mum, where is dad? I thought he was going to say good bye before leaving, I also want us to talk before I leave".

"Am sorry sweetheart, there was an urgent meeting in the office this morning and he left".

"It was an important one I promise Mrs. Brooks" avoiding the questioning gaze of Adrian.

"Mum you should Know this isn't fair, any time we are supposed to talk or discuss something important he disappeared" he said angrily.

"Sweetheart you should know your dad won't neglect nor choose to leave without a good reason" said Mrs. Brooks with a grin.

"He is always doing this, am used to it I thought today was going to be different" said Adrian walking towards the door.

"You can talk it out with me sweetheart", Mrs. Brooks said she moved away from the bed and stood besides her son.

"Huh? You?"

Adrian knew she was the last person on his mind to discuss that with. She was caring, loving and over protective. He knew his mum will opposed the deal of him having his personal and private life . He doesn't want to go to their business world, not his mum she won't take it.

" Trust me sweetheart, you can confide in me" Mrs. brooks persuaded.

"Don't worry mum, am going to say goodbye to the rest" said Adrian leaving the room.
