Natasha's Search

Natasha Romanoff POV…(Right after he saved people from the building fire)

As I was returning from a mission, I got a call from Fury asking me to head to Virginia for some recon and tracking. All I really wanted to do right now is take a nice hot bath and relax for a day or two. Since joining Shield a little over ten years ago, it has been nonstop with the missions. I mean, yeah, I do get to have a break occasionally, which is quite nice. Sometimes though, I want to spend a week at the spa and forget everything.

---

Anyways I am off to Virginia. Apparently, they found the enhanced that we found ten years ago, and he seemed to just up and disappear again. I got the documents sent to my phone and was reading through them.

'Let's see. The guy can fly; he is super strong and can fire lasers. He is around 6 feet, but judging by the age; he might have grown a bit more. He seems to be a good guy judging by how he saved all those people from that building fire a week ago. Also seems to be a lot of crime that was put down all over Richmond as well. I will visit the Orphanage we were at ten years ago first, double-check that the teams got everything. Then I will head over to Richmond and have a look around. Perhaps he left some clues on where he would be going next.

---

Arriving at the orphanage was like Déjà vu for Natasha. She could still see all the destruction that had occurred in her mind, but Shield had been able to fix everything as a thank you for any information that they gave. Shield was not given much at the time, but they still helped with repairs and even put in a playground for the kids outback. This is the reason why Natasha did not mind joining Shield. They were actually good guys. She always wanted to stop the killing and assassination, and not only was she able to, but she was also able to switch sides and fight a different fight that kept people safe. She knew her abilities would always be needed, and she did not mind that a bit. Thinking up till here, she finally stopped at the front door and knocked.

"Hello, yes, how may I help you?" an elderly lady answered the door, and upon seeing Natasha, she had asked her a question.

"Hello, my name is Natalie. I was hoping that you would give me a bit of information. You see, I had a nephew that I have been looking for forever since I found out about his existence. I believe he was sent to this Orphanage after his mother Irene gave birth to him. I was hoping that you would be able to help me find him. I believe a child should know that he has family out there, and they would love to have him around." Natasha said, and that seemed to convince the elderly lady because she let Natasha in. She led her to what looked like a living room and offered her a seat on the couch. (She made most of this up to get a look at the pictures and documents of the kids. She doesn't know the birthplace, nor does she know the mother.)

"I would love to help you dearly; do you know anything about the timing he would have been here. Perhaps, that would help narrow down the search a bit. You see, we do keep documentation on all the kids that come here, and even if or when they are adopted, we keep the files for a bit just in case the family was not a good fit. We also have a load of pictures that we usually take every three months to show to families wanting to adopt." The lady said to Natasha, who tried to look every bit at the grieving family member. She thought back to the timing of everything that had happened.

'We arrived here due to the incident in July of 1996. That would obviously be my ending point. Now in the documents, it stated he was around four foot to five feet tall. None of us could get a good read on him as he moved too fast. He also had long black hair, and if what the lady says is true, then I should be able to get a picture of him. Now with his height at that time, that should put him around eight to ten years old.' She though quickly

"I know he was here in 1996, but I do not know how old he was. Would you be able to let me look through photos that dated back to 1986, and if I happen to see someone that resembles my sister, I will let you know." Natasha asked in her sweet, get whatever she wants, voice

"I do not see why not, dear. Some of those documents were lost in the collapse that happened around ten years ago, that is when I started here. I will ask the head Lady and see if she will let me take you up to the attic, where all the old documents are stored. One second, deary." The lady said, then left the room. Around 5 minutes later, she returned and told Natasha to follow her.

"You will have to search for it on your own as I have duties to attend to. I hope that is not an issue?" The lady asked.

"No problem at all, thank you very much," Natasha said. She was then led up to what she assumed was the attic. Up a flight of rickety wooden stairs, she came upon a room that held some cobwebs and a bunch of dust. It was quite a large area, and she was surprised when she saw the number of boxes stacked up along the walls.

'Well, let's get started.' she thought and start rummaging through the boxes labeled pictures. It took her nearly all day, but finally, sitting before her were pictures that she assumed were from that night. She looked at a baby with small tufts of black hair and striking blue eyes. The issue was that this boy was born in 1992, and that would make him four, possibly close to 5, when he left this place.

'That means a four-year-old was able to leap almost half a mile away from this place and cause that amount of destruction with his ability to fire lasers. No wonder we never found him. We were looking for an eight- to a ten-year-old five-foot kid. That would put him at what 14 or 15 currently, and no wonder he ran away. He saw men in suits and Barton and me walking towards him. How intimidating would that be for a little boy?' Natasha thought to herself as she turned all the pictures over and read all the names there. She was trying to narrow down the names through the years. She spent another 30 minutes on this until she came down to one name.

'Andy. No last name? It seemed all the other kids had last names written down. I wonder if he was just never given one. Let's ask around and see if anyone remembers this boy.' She thought she got up to find the lady she was talking with earlier. Finding her, she showed her the pictures she found.

"I am sorry I was not even working here at that time. However, the Head Lady Margarette was. Perhaps she can shed some light on the boy in the picture." She said she showed Natasha to an office with a lady who looked to be about 50 or 60 years old in it. She was sitting behind a desk, writing down some things in a notepad before turning to them and putting the pen down.

Hello, my name is Margarette, but you may call me Marge. I hear from Lady Susan that you were looking for a lost nephew. I am terribly sorry, dear. Now, what can I help you with?' Marge asked Natasha.

"Yes, thank you. I ran across these photos and was hoping you knew of the kid in the picture. He is the spitting image of my late sister." Natasha asked as she showed the pictures from him as a baby to the most recent, right before leaving.

"Ah, I remember this little lad. He grew extremely fast, and no matter how much he ate, he was always in great physical shape for a kid. We did not have much funding back then, so most kids looked a little scrawny, but not this fellow." Marge said as she pulled a photo out and turned it over. "Yes, Andy. His mother died at birth, and he still came out extremely healthy. He was the only baby that we housed here in a while, and the Head Lady at the time did not take a liking to him because of it. She was awfully hard on the boy up until they both seemed to disappear."

"Do you have any documentation on him that would help me in my search? I have been searching for months and was brought here at that time. Anything would be helpful." Natasha asked

"I am sorry, but everything on him vanished. His whole folder, not that there was much in it. We think it was damaged during the collapse ten years ago, but who knows." Marge said, and Natasha stood up.

"Well, thank you both for your time and hospitality. Would you mind if I take a more recent photo so I can have a clue about what he may look like?" Natasha asked, and Marge said yes. Natasha then turned around and left. Walking towards her car, she could only sigh at the lack of information she got. She called Fury and told him what she found.

"I am going to send you a picture of the boy that we ran across that night ten years ago. Would you be able to run a face scan and possibly age it by ten years? Yes. Thank you, and please send it to my phone. The kid we are looking for was four at the orphanage incident. No, sir, I am not kidding. That would have made him 14, possibly 15 when he rescued those people from the building. Yes, sir, I got it. I will head there now. Bye," Natasha hung up the phone and started her drive to Richmond.
