Hello, everyone ! I hope
You're having a good day ! First I want to say that you can find the first 4 chapter of my crossover InFamous/the boys fanfic on my Patréon page (as well as advanced chapters and other stories). Check it out if you're interested ! And hopefully, in about a month, I'll start posting them here ! Also, though it's a slightly different subject, don't forget to review, comment and/or leave stones for this story ! Thanks !
Now, what can I talk to you about ? Let's talk about the IDW reboot of the TMNT. Personally, like many people, I grew with stories of dragon ball, Batman and the Justice League. And of course, the Ninja Turtles. So, yeah, I love them. With the IDW reboot however, I rediscovered them ! Their story is, I feel, more mature, more thought-out (or perhaps, it's just because I paid closer attention) and the characters aren't just black and white. Krang, especially, has become a complex character that I can't really hate, though I dislike the length he's willing to go to to accomplish his objectives. Personally, if you've got money and like the TMNT, I suggest giving the IDW collection a read.
Now, enjoy the chapter !
========
The first thing I do after getting home… Is to take a shower. After the fight and spending I don't know how long in that bed, I kind of reek. With a new fresh set of clothes and my robes in the laundry basket, I head for Cory's room, only to find she's not there. So, I go to my parents and from the expressions on their faces I know I'm not gonna like what they'll say…
« We just came back from the city… » My dad starts. « After the news of your big fight, we've waiting for a couple of hours… But when none of you came back, we decided to start searching for you. »
« They're not back… ? » I repeat and then almost smack myself in the forehead.
Of course, they're not ! Otherwise, they'd be all over me by now, after my parents had contacted them and interrupted their search.
« Fu-… » I stop myself from cursing upon seeing my mom's glare. Beware the tongue lashing, me ! I start to pace, trying to think about the battle and if I have any kind of clue as to who might have taken them. My first thought, of course, is Fury. As I realize that I have to go back, I sigh… Looks like our next meeting will be much earlier than I thought.
« Okay, then… » I say and go back to my room to retrieve another set of battle robes - the only other set, actually. My parents have followed me and seeing that I am getting back into my 'suit', mom demands :
« Where do you think you are going, Nathan Norrson ? »
« I need to go back to the park, since I don't know where I was held exactly. Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up on the portal and trace it back to where I came from… I need to have a talk with a bald pirate. » After a sigh, I add : « Another one… »
Once garbed in my battle robes, I head for the door only to have my mom bar the way. That's when I see the look in her eyes. It's not that she's mad, though she is… She actually worries over my well-being. I don't know how long I was out, whether it was a couple of hours or days. But it's clear she's not ready to have me leave right after I got back.
Thankfully, before things start to devolve into an argument, my dad interjects :
« Why don't we go with you, then ? I'm sure you won't say no to having back up, right ? »
I consider it. Like good and loving parents, they worry over my well-being. In return, I also do the same… However, I also have to take into consideration the fact that they're adults, and have probably seen their fair share of battles as well. What, with my dad having worked for the Ancient One and my mom being some kind of witch who had some point had adventures in space. They're both alive so that means they have experience and skills.
In the end, I nod before raising my index finger :
« Alright ! But you can't treat me like your son over there. That is… if we manage to open the portal back to there. I don't want people to figure out who we are through our connection. »
I can't believe how fast my mom's mood change after that : from concerned mother hen, she changes into an excited child on a sugar high. Squealing like a little girl, she rushes to her room and open the dresser before getting out their 'costume'. The one they used when Cory and I had been kidnapped.
A little while later, our little group head back out toward the park. Despite the people in the park, I'm surprised than none of them are paying attention to me. I mean, a couple of witch of wizard accompanying a alien-like octopus humanoid should draw attention, right ?
I guess I tilted my head 'cause my mom explains :
« It's just a little notice-me-not. A cantrip spell you should have learned by now. One you should use pretty much all the time if you want to hide what you're doing… »
Right, that spell ! I king of forgot about it to be honest.
« I know it, but… I mean, I hang out with these three, you know ? They don't know much about magic and they don't care much for it. Besides, we haven't been dealing with any mystical threats lately. Only the occasional super-villains… which seem to multiply in numbers these days. »
So, we reach the place where I exited the portal earlier without any people gawking at us, or rather me. A nice change of pace to be honest. That's another thing I don't like about my mutation : the stares I get. Humans are prone to dislike what looks different : some creatures are detested, as are people with physical deformities. So Alter-humans whose mutations altered their physical appearance ? No wonder some choose to hide in the sewers…
I dismiss those thoughts and start to work on trying to trace the portal… My father joins me, casting the spells much more quickly and with more effectiveness that I can at the moment. After a couple of seconds, I decide to just leave it to him.
« Okay, I've got it… » He says and then casts another spell. Soon after, a window opens in the air, one I recognize as not being a portal but a scrying spell. Mom recognizes the medical equipment and turns towards me in silence, a question plain on her face.
« Yeah… » I tell her with a sigh. « I was injured. Not sure of the extent of it but I did pass out and woke up there. »
The image on the window changes as if a camera is moving through the room and then passes right through the door. We see corridors with a couple of people walking, wearing some kind of uniform with an eagle on the side of their shoulders. My parents both recognize it :
« S.H.I.E.L.D. » They utter in unison.
