Chapter 1Chapter 1 : Beyond The Void

The city was bustling, a cacophony of honking horns and murmured voices carried on the wind. Grey Whiteheart, a thirty-year-old introvert, sat quietly in the corner of his favorite café, his fingers tracing the rim of his coffee cup. He wasn't one for socializing. His life had always been a simple, predictable routine—a comfort in the chaos of the world outside. He kept to himself, lost in his thoughts, savoring the solitude. And for the most part, he was content with it.

But on that day, the universe had other plans.

The shrill screech of tires was the first sign that something was wrong. Grey's head snapped up from his phone, his heart immediately racing. He had learned over the years to tune out the noise of the world, but this sound—it was different. It was urgent.

He looked up just in time to see a car swerving violently toward the sidewalk, its tires screeching against the asphalt. His stomach churned. He didn't need to think twice. His body moved before his mind could even catch up.

A child—no older than seven—stood frozen at the corner, her eyes wide with terror as the car hurtled toward her.

Grey's heart pounded in his chest, but as the seconds stretched on, his brain fought against his instincts. Don't do it. Don't be stupid. His mind screamed at him to stay safe, to let someone else handle it. But his legs carried him forward before he could stop himself.

Without a moment's hesitation, he lunged, shoving the girl out of the car's path. She tumbled to the ground, safe—far enough to escape the speeding vehicle. But as he looked on, he realized it was too late for him. The impact came so fast, so violently, that there was no time to process it.

The car struck him full force, and everything went black.

A Dreamless Void

Grey awoke to an eerie stillness. There was no pain, no sound—just an overwhelming emptiness. He tried to move, but his body felt like it was made of stone. Panic surged through him, only to be replaced by an odd calmness, as though his very essence had been stripped of everything familiar.

He opened his mouth, but no words escaped. He was nothing. No body, no form—just thoughts drifting in a void.

Suddenly, a voice, neither male nor female, reverberated through the nothingness, resonating deep within him, filling the empty space like a melody too beautiful to comprehend.

"You have done something rare, Grey Whiteheart," the voice intoned, its words floating around him like a warm, soothing wind. "A selfless act, when the world needed it most. You saved a child, whose fate was tied to the survival of this world. Your actions have earned you great karma."

Grey's thoughts raced, but they felt distant, like the world he had known was a fading dream. The child—he had saved her. The fleeting memory seemed so far away, yet so vivid.

"Who… who are you?" Grey's voice came out weak, distant, but somehow it felt like it wasn't his voice at all.

"I am but an agent of fate," the voice replied, its tone filled with an ancient wisdom. "I guide the balance of worlds. Your wish will be granted in exchange for your sacrifice."

Grey's mind swirled in confusion. Sacrifice? He had been willing to save the child, but had it really cost him his life? A strange peace filled him, but his thoughts still clung to the memory of the life he had lost—the life that was now gone forever.

"I wish for supreme intelligence," he said, his voice firm, though uncertainty still lingered. "I want to understand everything. I want the knowledge to shape my future."

"Your wish is granted," the voice replied simply. "But know this, Grey Whiteheart, your journey is far from over. You will be sent to a new world—a world you've only dreamed of. A world where your intelligence will be your greatest asset."

Grey felt a warmth surround him, the void fading away as the voice's final words echoed in his mind.

"Welcome to the Marvel universe."

The Marvel Universe

The next thing Grey knew, the void had dissolved, and he was standing on solid ground. His surroundings were completely unfamiliar. A city unlike anything he had ever seen stretched out before him, towering buildings with sharp, angular designs that seemed to pulse with energy. The sky above buzzed with an electric hum, the faintest traces of something vast and powerful in the air.

His mind, overloaded with new information, began to process it all at a dizzying speed. Stark Industries… S.H.I.E.L.D… The Avengers… Names, faces, concepts—all flooding into his consciousness like a torrent of knowledge. Each one was a piece of a puzzle, and Grey's mind, now supremely enhanced, pieced them together effortlessly.

He staggered slightly, feeling a wave of disorientation wash over him. This wasn't his world. The familiar places, the people he had known, were gone. But his mind, sharper than ever before, began to formulate plans—plans for survival, for advancement, for power.

Grey stood still for a moment, taking it all in. His heart raced, a mix of excitement and fear bubbling up inside him. He had always admired this world from afar—its heroes, its villains, its endless conflicts. But now, he was here, and his intelligence would be the key to everything.

But was it enough? Could he truly survive in a world filled with beings of unimaginable power? Could he carve out a place for himself, or would he become a mere pawn in a game far greater than himself?

The answers to these questions lay ahead. And as Grey began to take his first steps in this strange new reality, he couldn't help but wonder: what role would he play in the ever-shifting balance of heroes and villains in this world? And how would his supreme intelligence shape the fate of the Marvel universe?

Pokemon Alternate Universe Adventures

A man from an Earth gets the choice to start over in any Universe and chooses an Alternate Pokemon Universe. Let us see if his journey to the top is succesful and the impact he will have on his new world. Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc. I just use their sandbox for the plot of my MC and my OCs. This will be a "slow" paced story, in fact it's "super slow paced", so please don't expect the MC to directly start his journey in 20 chapters or so, actually multiply that by like 15. A lot is going to happen before that happens. The first 10-20 chapters or so are information heavy, depending on what kind of reader you are. I try to keep my chapter length between 2000 and 3000 words per chapter. My release rate is 4 chapter/week for now. I have a patre*n for those that want to support me with access to some advance chapters as a thank you. patre*n.com/Azrail93 This is an alternate pokemon universe so there will be differences to the games, manga and anime. So if something in the story is different it is most likely on purpose. The original sources are seen as suggestions not laws. Differences can be: Type variants, evolution conditions, strength mechanics, world building and more. If I am at some point asking for reader input I will do so but otherwise I will ignore most suggestions. So please don't spam things like catch this pokemon or do that next. I have my plot planned and external input will be considered when asked for. If I see a suggestion that I believe fit my plot flow I will use it and will credit the commentor. Comments on spelling and grammar mistakes are welcome. I will try to correct said mistakes with time. Constructive criticism will be read and considered. Insult and hate comments will be ignored or deleted depending on severity. Readers naturally can comment their dislike but one worders will be ignored. If the reason for the dislike is explained I will read it. Like previously mentioned pure insults and hate comments will be ignored or deleted. The same is true for simple hate reviews or insulting ones. Reviews complaining about something I warned about, such as the slow pace, will be deleted as well.

Naruto: The Outsider's Resolve

[A Naruto Fan Fiction] Make the best of what you have, they said... But what I am supposed to do when the best I have are red-eyed freaks, a child who's supposed to be the jailor of the most dangerous being in the world, a snake bastard with serious boundary issues, and a whole world of super soldiers with licences to murder. And you know the best part? None of them like me so much... Oh shut it, old man! Take that Will of Fire and shove it up your— Yeah, this second swing at life isn't panning out... --------------------------------------------------------------- What to expect: - Gradual strength progression. Meaningful growth. The MC is a normal guy dumped into the Narutoverse, starts out weak and has to work and struggle for everything he gains. - "Slow" paced. My writing style is a zoomed-in look camera that follows the protagonist. It might seem slow, but I ensure something is always happening to progress the plot forward. - Gritty and often bloody fights and actions scenes with a focus on taijutsu—you'll see individual combat, team fights, and large-scale battle. - A different take on the Narutoverse. The world is full of superhuman mercenaries with liscenes-to-kill—that along with the protagonist's struggles paint the world in a much darker light. - Additions and expansion to the "chakra" power system. I consider myself a conservative when it comes to adapting the power system—and aim to retain the original feel while highlighting the best parts. - The Outsider's Resolve version of Narutoverse uses the [Naruto Manga] as the base—with additions from anime, books, and even Boruto (though very less likely). --------------------------------------------------------------- DISCORD SERVER: https://discord.gg/w5dJ82SfMr --------------------------------------------------------------- PATREON LINK: https://www.patreon.com/fictiononlyreader --------------------------------------------------------------- DECLARATION: This story is also present on: FFN, Ao3, SpaceBattles, SufficientVelocity, and ScribbleHub RoyalRoad [to be verified] --------------------------------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: I don't own any character other than my OCs.
